Free Agent Class of 2009
Nice breakdown by Chad Ford of the top free agents available or potentially available this summer. An interesting name I hadn't considered: Trevor Ariza. Great defender, with range. Outlaw and/or Marty would probably have to go to make room for him.
In a companion piece available on espn insider, Ford says the Blazers will have $8 million in cap room, asssuming they renounce their rights to Channing.
That's AFTER accounting for the reduction in the cap this year. That was my point in the earlier fanpost about salary - the Blazers will be $8 million under the reduced cap, giving them the ability to take advantage of teams that are $6 million or so over the cap (but weren't planning to be, and can't afford to be) due to the reduced figure.
Obviously, if the Blazers go that route (using the cap space to facilitate a trade with a team looking to get under the cap), the list of free agents really doesn't matter.

Didn't realize another link to this was just published.
My bad.
Q: Is Greg favoring his knee?
Frye: He favors dunking on your head, that's what he favors.

It's all good.
Want more aggressiveness? Try less Baylesslessness.

Do you want me to delete mine or are you gonna' wipe yours?
If you wipe yours, definitely copy and paste your stuff over into mine. If you want me to wipe mine, I’ll paste my junk over here.

I want David Lee
When Przy gets old we will have Oden, LA, and Lee to share the 4 and 5 spots. Like maybe 36 minutes for LA, 30 for Lee and 30 for Oden… just my opinion… I am not always right. Might not be the best situation right away though.

I agree with a need for a future 4-5
However I like Varejao, he is going to be cheaper and I like his ability to split time at the 5 better.
I could be wrong too.
There won't be clean officiating in the NBA until David Stern is forcibly removed by the US Congress in 2013 for fixing games.

I'd rather have a backup 4/5 who can play defense
Lee doesn’t really try on defense, though he is a rebounding monster.
I want a Reggie Evans type— will always rebound every basketball there is to rebound, will play tough-nosed defense, and won’t cause a stink if he isn’t getting touches and/or big minutes. David Lee wants to start, and make 10 million a year (he has said so publically). That, combined with his lack of defense, make him the wrong choice to me.
Obviously David Lee is better than a Reggie Evans type, but we need a role player for our backup spots, not another starter.
(Unless a starting quality role player is okay being a back up, ala Przybilla. David Lee isn’t like that though).

+1
That’s the biggest hole on the team right now, after seeing Bayless I believe he will develop into a viable starting PG when the time comes for Blake to be replaced as the starter.
An admission: After the OKC game, I said some things. Stupid things. Things about Nate not knowing how to coach GO. It was only then I realized that I was in danger of becoming that which I most loathe - an uninformed, knee jerk fan who reacts to wins with wild delusions of championships and losses with trade and firing fodder. I will not be that fan. From this point on I will support the Blazers, the coaches and front office wholeheartedly, offering praise and criticism appropriate to the matter at hand. I will never again be "that guy".
