Eating Crow

I have to eat a little crow!  I have been very frustrated with many things Nate has been doing with this team since he arrived.  My main issues have been substitution patterns and game time decision making.  I think it is fair to say Nate has turned me around!  He has cut his rotation down eliminating Channing/Ike and now he keeps either Aldridge or Roy on the floor at all times.  This is huge for many reasons mostly because it keeps a proven offensive weapon on the floor at all times.  Thanks Nate.  He has also allowed Oden time when he stays out of foul trouble.  There are still times I think you let him play with the fouls, but regardless when Oden is free of fouls he is getting near 40 mins and his production is way up.  This has given us many more opportunities to score in the paint and forced penetrating guards to think twice prior to attacking the middle.  Game time decisions seem less important when you are winning by double digits but I even saw Bayless go for a 2 for 1 against Utah!  I have always liked Nate's character and "Sarge" mentality and now I can say I like his rotations. Hopefully Nate can continue to improve just like our team. Yay for progress!  Go Nate.  Go Portland!

I don't know how you got Nate's ear, Natural.

He’s obviously been listening to you and wisely decided to change his coaching ideas as a result of your admonitions. Let me be the FIRST among Blazer fans to thank you.

Uh it's clearly my posts that are stearing him toward better coaching

Nate has been doing a much better job of coaching the last few games.

I like a lot of things Nate stands for. I even like his half court offensive system but I hate the way he doesn’t always see what’s going on on the court and the way he doesn’t trust Sergio enough. Most of all I hate that we don’t run more. Sergio could be one of the best fast break point men in the league if Nate would let him free to attack. Last three games Sergio has been running and we’ve been winning.

I have to agree

with Blazersaurus. He only listened to about half of what I said :)

I always "roll my eyes" when I see a coaching thread

because I suspect 99% of the posts are made by folks who have never even coached on the grade school level.

I like The Natural’ ala Mode’s thread because he sounds like someone who has actually coached. Is this true Natural?

I'd like a scoop of vanilla ice cream with that.

My wife prepared flank steak for us the other night

that was the equal of any cut of meat I have been fortunate enough to taste in my entire life.

I’m talkin’ ’bout flank steak!

I will take some of the credit for the expertise with which I mesquite-barbecued the meat… okay, I didn’t burn it.

She got the recipe from one of those TV chefs. You know, the annoying one.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
