Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

SF options/Martell timetable?

Now that we know that:

Vince

RJ

Wallace

Salmons

Mike Miller

Will not be suiting up in the scarlet and black, does anyone know what Martell's status is?

The team could use his offense to take the load off of BRoy in the coming weeks.  Roy needs the help and the team desperately needs someone to step up.

Wallace would have been the perfect fit for now, but his presence could have caused problems down the road due to the $20M the franchise has invested in Martell.

Outlaw's deficiencies are becoming all the more noticeable as the season progresses and the Blazers need more offense from the SF spot.

I don't expect him to come back at all

I’ve heard March is his time table, but I say take the year to rehab it and come back next year ready to play.

Rudy's 3rd Rule: When not shooting on offense, you should be communicating, passing, and running. Also, yell "Foul!" repeatedly. Why? How can officials summon help if you yell "Good D!" or "Our opponents are superior!"?

I second BM77.

He’s still in the boot, so I figure he’s got a long ways to go before he’s suited up. I’d rather he take his time than rush back. But if he’s out of the boot next week, I’d like him back at least in the backup role this season. I just figure that is highly unlikely.

20 million?

I may have not heard (i do try to follow closely) but i thought Martells contract ends this year. Did we give him an extention? I do think he is done for the year but thats just my opine.

he got an extension

4 years, 20 million roughly

Rule #1 of nitpicking is to get it right.

Thanks Douglast,

I was not aware of that, honestly i feel better knowing we have him for a few years. I thought his contract was up and we were gonna let him walk after this year. Ya K.P. knows best.

According to the Quick chat

he should have been out of the boot now but isn’t… link

Maybe he just really likes the boot now.

Maybe now he can use it to jump really high and crush goombas. The one question is this: Is the boot big and green, and does he constantly hop up and down while he is wearing it?

Quick said today that he thinks Marty will play this year.

He would've smoothed out a lot of stuff

until Rudy learned the playbook. Now, it looks like we gotta get big help from Rudy and Travis where Marty would be. I don’t like the sound of that, but oh well. Don’t even get me going on Greg’s latest problem and what that means in terms of LMA and Fry manning the middle. Oi Vey.

Frye looked good in his few minutes last night

In The Descent of Man, Charles Darwin uses the phrase "survival of the fittest" only twice. He uses the word "love," by contrast, over ninety times. Darwin never wrote about "selfish genes." For Darwin, the main force behind human evolution is survival of the most compassionate, not survival of the fittest. Human evolution is driven by moral sensitivity, or love.

He could be good

with enough minutes but I’m not sure he can get enough to firm up.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
