2/19 Junk Drawer - Blazersedge Taboo - Nothing new, I just changed the poll

Dave and Ben should be busy chasing down trade rumors so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to discuss one of Blazer’s Edge’s taboos, specifically the taboo subject of banning. I fully understand why both of them do not discuss the details with us. Ben jokes a little about deleting bad comments and the most churlish trolls, but like Dave, he for the most part keeps it under wraps.

I for one love banning and I always get a kick out of it when someone gets banned. I know tominhawaii used to bait people on the verge of melting down into cussing, in hopes that it got them banned. Heck, he even wrote inflammatory things on Blog a Bull just to lure ornery Blazers fans out for Matt to ban. Matt at Blog a Bull is bantastic.

I also feel that Dave and Ben are pretty diplomatic when it comes to banning. They seem to give fair warning and even let some folks stick around that if put to a vote, others here would have banned a long time ago. I often wonder how some folks manage to stick around for as long as they do. I know if I had administrative rights to Blazers Edge, that I would ban a handful of people just because I disagree with them. I would also ban anyone who typed "first" after a post for a week, just to teach them a lesson.

Another thing that fascinates me are the posters who seem to disappear in the night. I wonder if TheGreatDane17 was banned or simply spilled soda on his laptop. It is thoughts like those that keep me awake in the afternoon.

So, what do you think about banning?

Is there anyone that was banned that you wish could come back?

Is there anyone here that you wish was banned? (Maybe you shouldn’t answer that unless you want them to cuss at you and get banned.)

Have you ever been banned from one of the other blogs?

Star-divide

{Update} I'm testing something out her so I made a new poll.  That last one was pretty lame.  I was experimenting on how many choices you could make and I think it is endless.

Why is the Blazers site so lame?

I’ve tried twice to buy tickets to the March 4th game and the webpage won’t let me. Yesterday it crashed and today it tells me that my Blazer’s webpage address does not match my credit card address. I have verified both and they do match. I tried to change the format of my apartment number on the Blazer’s website and I have to call a 503 number to get it done.

and what isn’t.

I didn’t vote in your poll becuase there is no 0 option…..

If I were administrator of any given blog, it would be an uncomfortable place…and I know that. probably not very many readers….probably just a gathering of trolls that were otherwise banned everywhere else…..

but I’d have a hard time banning anyone….

but giving them a full fledged butt reamin for all to see….

yeah, I’d do that….. :)

fortunately for me(not so much for you) dave’s a man of god and has a weeee bit more honor than I….

otherwise I might STILL be banned. :(

Re: being banned

I figure nothing I say, within reason, can ever get me banned knowing TominHawaii wrote some pretty borderline stuff that was acceptable. So he was my proverbial re-drawn line in the sand I dare to cross.

I’ve made some comments that haven’t been deemed entirely charming, in fact, Dave recently referred to one of my posts that raised an eyebrow as “mean-spirited”, but that alone cant be sufficient reason to get banned.

Blazers Edge is Lame!

Actually Blazer’s Edge is cool. It’s others I have issues with. I read about half the trade stuff and tried not to complain too much. I had to deal with trade stuff popping up in almost every thread, and I had to suffer through about a dozen posts a day about pointless trades. I might have gotten a little petulant every now and again and for the most part stuck to my guns of not wanting a trade.

Fans got their trade, even though it we won’t see the effect of it on the court this season, I’m sure it will lead to the Blazers getting better. Folks just need to accept the fact that KP chose to agree with me and a few others and stop bashing him. Some fans are complaining about not making the playoffs and the Blazers have only played one game since the all star game.

Some fans need to suck it up. KP did not do what they wanted done and they need to get over it. They cannot complain about the Blazers not making the playoffs until the Blazers are mathematically eliminated, fans have no right to complain until then.

It is time to go back to talking about the Blazers, Blazer’s games, and the playoffs. Oh, and American Idol.

If anyone remembers sportstalk.com

thats the site that Chad Ford had before selling it to espn, anyways they did not ban people but they would put a pole up on the front page and let the fans vote and comment about some of the more boisterous bloggers. Some of the poles they had would just downright embarrass the offender(accused offender)some of the poles would chase the accused violator off the site entirely. The very least the pole would do is validate a posters standing on the site, or let them know they had no credibility about what they were ranting about in general.

really id say winning 50 percent more then losing

is consistent enough for me, but my math is fuzzy. I haven’t worried about getting to the playoffs in a month or two. obviously playing Frye as our backup C is a bad situation to be in

If its only 2 more games, we’ll survive though.

Bayless is not better than Sergio right now. He just isn’t. Bayless has a lot more upside, but Sergio does the things we need from our backup PG (ie passing) better right now.

I wonder if...

…all the speculation about the trade deadline was part of the problem? There were a lot of names being bandied about and I’m sure it made it difficult for some players to concentrate. Let’s hope this is the case and the Blazers come out tonight with a fire in their belly.

And for all the Channing hate, he did have a good stretch last year when Joel was out – maybe he can repeat this…

by DonkeyShins on Feb 20, 2009 9:47 AM PST up reply actions

I would have chucked Sergio overboard now that he has value, and trusted in god on rex for the 15 minutes a game that Blake isn't playing...

But the big problem isn’t PG. Rex will not die if he doesn’t play. The problem is that Marty is gone for the year, in all likelihood, and there isn’t enough firepower; and the team is STILL short a backup 4 that can ruck, which is unchanged for 18 months or more now…

Why is Channing Frye still here? Anybody??? Anybody???
