Kobe Stopper available...

Mr Rueben Patterson.  Lets cut this guy we have coming from the Kings and sign a guy who can play some D, stop Kobe and can take a punch from Zach.  His coming out of unintentional retirement will Kobe nightmares. He won't be able to sleep for seeing a court full of Ruebens on the court, pressing him, behind him, in front of him, beside him, laughing at him.  A giant Rueben, stepping on him!  The Western Conference Championship is ours!

Really?

It’s interesting that both Kobe and Rueben were both accused of rape. I’m not sure he fits our culture.

LOL on the culture front

Understatement of the year. I wonder how all the Nic fans, especially the 90% of 18-25 year old women in Portland who think they are the future Mrs. Batum (cough, blazerfan1, cough) would feel about Mr. Innocent learning how to be a player on and off the court from Rube :)

An admission: After the OKC game, I said some things. Stupid things. Things about Nate not knowing how to coach GO. It was only then I realized that I was in danger of becoming that which I most loathe - an uninformed, knee jerk fan who reacts to wins with wild delusions of championships and losses with trade and firing fodder. I will not be that fan. From this point on I will support the Blazers, the coaches and front office wholeheartedly, offering praise and criticism appropriate to the matter at hand. I will never again be "that guy".

Truth be told,..

Ruben Patterson was great. Part of me really wouldn’t mind having him back. I’d much rather have a baggage free alternative, but Ruben hustled like nobody else. He was a crowd diving, fastbreak dunking, on-the-floor scrapping kind of guy, and it’s hard not to like him for it.

Nah, phoo! Ruben was awful

He was like Nocioni— never stays on his man, always running around like an idiot, looking like he was playing defense but really screwing everything up. The random steal and block (like Nocioni) makes it look like it was intentional.

Plus he was a HUGE ballhog on offense, and while he can score pretty well on the block he had hands of stone and messed up more easy fastbreaks than anyone in history. If he got the ball, he was not passing it. And, he couldn’t shoot to save his life.

Very, very, very dumb player. He had a career year in Milwaukee 2 seasons ago and no one wanted to touch him. It wasn’t all the rapey type stuff… he doesn’t follow gameplans on either side of the ball and I wouldn’t be surprised if he just didn’t know how. In all seriousness, I think he is mentally retarded (not joking).

I don’t want our SF to be mentally retarded.

This was a reply to Sabonis4ever

He is the phoo I speak of, not the poster of this fanpost.

I'm from Cincinnati, and watched him a lot in college

I still have no idea how he had an NBA career over Melvin Levitt.
Everything you say is dead on.

RUBEN WAS GREAT

I would take Ruben again! If he screwed up then he is gone.

not to be nitpicky but...

I think the word that fits is not ‘ironic’ but, rather, ‘sarcastic’

unless someone is serious.. in which case we might need to plan an intervention or something…

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
