Nike Hoop Summit Roster Released: Team USA is Loaded
The Nike Hoop Summit is a high school all star game played between team USA and a world team. It's slated for April 11 at 7PM in the Rose Garden.
Nic Batum played for the world team 2 years ago; Alexis Ajinca played for the world team the last 2 years. Here's my recap of last year's Hoop Summit.
Anyway, the big news today is that USA Basketball has announced Team USA's roster. And it is loaded.
- DeMarcus Cousins (LeFlore H.S. / Mobile, Ala.),
- Leslie McDonald (Briarcrest H.S. / Memphis, Tenn.)
- Mason Plumlee (Christ School / Arden, N.C.)
- Avery Bradley (Findlay Prep / Henderson, Nev.);
- Derrick Favors (South Atlanta H.S. / Atlanta, Ga.);
- Abdul Gaddy (Bellarmine Prep / Tacoma, Wash.);
- Xavier Henry (Putnam City H.S. / Oklahoma City, Okla.);
- John Henson (Sickles H.S. / Tampa, Fla.);
- Mike Moser (Grant H.S. / Portland, Ore.);
- John Wall (Word of God Academy / Raleigh, N.C.).

Moser eh
Kinda surprises me that they picked him, but that is cool that Oregon got someone in there. OR/WA both have players, but California doesn’t. Don’t count on that ever happening again.
no way man
Moser is the real deal. I’ve gotten to see him play a few times, that kid is talented.

Oh no doubt
But this is a pretty elite group. Doesn’t ESPN only have him in the 50s or something in terms of recruit rankings? I haven’t checked in a while so this could have changed. Either way, a nice honor for him.
we need to draft DeMarcus
so we can team him with LaMarcus.
I have no idea who he is or how he plays, I just think that looks cool.
Rule #1 of nitpicking is to get it right.
I wish ill will on Gaddy
and his noncommit to UA.
It was "mascot night" at the Rose Garden, which apparently translates to a dozen inflatable versions of various NBA mascots being chased around the arena by Portland's "Blaze", which is some breed of rapist dog. -PostingandToasting

I enjoyed the Olympics when they used non-NBA players
They should either ban NBA players or make an age limit of 25 and younger. Much more exciting…the age limit is probably better since foreign players turn pro at a younger age.
Well, I could be wrong, but I believe diversity is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.
How long 'til Memphis finds the funds to bring in DeMarcus Cousins, Lance Stephenson, and John Wall?
John Calipari’s dribble-drive motion offense would be killer with a “Fab Four” of Cousins, Stephenson, Xavier Henry, and Wall — as well as Shawn Taggart returning at center — even though a recruiting glass that’s that insanely talented would, uh, raise a few eyebrows.
Oh, I've got no idea. Besides, it's all just conjecture on my part.
Either way, though, it wouldn’t surprise me to someday learn that Memphis has financially subsidized guys such as Tyreke Evans, Derrick Rose, et al.
Nic was amazing in that game two years ago (with some help from Petteri)

Against the likes of Beasley, B-Rex, Rose, Mayo, Love, Singler. They lost, but oh boy did he look good out there.

Yep, Koponen was great in that game as well.
Totally held his own against Mayo, Rose and Bayless that day!

Wow, we are talking high school basketball here now.
Anyone did a mock draft for NBA 2012?
thats nothing new, we’ve been doing it for almost a year now.

Anyword on why
Sidney wasn’t picked?
and it will be really cool to see John Wall.

i dont know how their selection process works. they don’t always get all the big names. sidney has a rep for character issues. that might turn off usa bball. that’s just speculation. more likely there are scheduling conflicts or he might not be able to get out of school.. it’s a commitment as they come to portland early and run practices for a few days to a week prior to the game.

that makes sense
that is pretty cool that the game is played in Portland, definitely makes it more likely for the talent out this way, to get a chance to shine on a big stage.

Renardo Sidney screams USC to me. I hate Southern California, too, particularly Tim Floyd.
Sidney will reportedly make his decision this weekend, though, so we’ll find out for sure then.
looking forward to it
went last year with my father. theres a higher intensity to this game than most all star games, and it seems like the best indicator of whos next.
OOOO THAT WAS NASTAY! wheels
ABDUL!!!
He’s amazing. i go to school with him and he literally carried us durng the regular season. His brother’s tough too.
What up, Moser
