Oden "Update" (with poll)
A Ticker article on Yahoo Sports indicates Greg Oden has a chipped patella in his left knee. He had an MRI and is back in Indiana as previously planned.
If I remember correctly, he had microfracture surgery last year on his other knee.
Anyone have any thoughts? On a macroscopic level, I think a lot of the early NBA buzz has died down because of these injuries and his inconsistent (though sometimes spectacular) play. On the microscopic level (for us Portland folks), I think Greg's injury doesn't look serious, although it might have a temporary effect on the next few games and, perhaps, with some trades in the works.

I misread
the poll choice. Clownzano is right for once. Wait until we get the official update right now all indications are this is a minor thing. Oden needs to wear kneepads like Bayless it’s as simple as that.

Clownzano?
I like Canzano. He’s usually right about all things blazer. What do people have against him?
I believe the nickname
derives from his polarizing nature. Because he markets himself as someone who boldly tells the truth supposedly no one wants him to tell, some may despise his approach as disingenuous and call him names (like me). Others may enjoy his stirring the pot on their ride back from work or while reading his columns.
I say he might be our next national radio talk show host after Colin once he gets better at handling topics.

Could be the way he's disconnected
from life like the rest of us. Still, he’s not a very good news reporter and he’s not a very enjoyable entertainer. He just seems focused on marrying his suspicions or opinions to a self-portrait he can live with. Maybe it’s the nature of exposing yourself publicly everyday that the journalist can’t help projecting a flattering self image all over their work. Next time you see him tell him from me his radio schtick boors and that it’s ok to let go of the frat house conditioning; it wears thin.
For me its the way he can't just talk about the facts
but insists on hyperbole and making mountains out of mole hills. One time he proceeded to call the entire city a bunch of hicks because the fans cheered at a pre-season game, yet at the same time said that he’s happy we’re all hicks. The guy is a moron. He insults people’s intelligence with his drivel.

This isn't even an "update"
This is exactly what Ben posted here: http://www.blazersedge.com/2009/2/13/758908/greg-oden-is-day-to-day
Oden underwent a precautionary MRI today, which revealed some swelling and a chip fracture of the patella.
This is just Yahoo being way behind. Tomorrow they’ll probably say he has a crack his patella.

That report is correct Rick. An MRI showed a cracked patella on Greg’s left (non microfractured) knee
Release your inner Kraken
But...
this is the first time YAHOO reported it.

Ya
That’s what makes it special!
Seriously, I think the added news here is that he had an MRI and, in fact, has a “chipped” (not a "cracked") patella, for all the difference that makes.
Neither has the important news, however—namely, how this affect Oden’s season in terms of limited productivity or missed games.

The important news..
is that Yahoo! made it news – what else are you looking for? 10 secrets to a thinner tummy?

Your anti-Oden rants are a bit old. And it is waaaaaaaaaay to early
for any type of “told you so” statements. Typical knee jerk responses from fans and media.
I'm a little confused by your tactics

A five year old can run into something and chip a bone in their knee.
And we all know that once they do, they never set foot on the playground again!
Come on. Basketball players always get injured, a chipped bone is not equivalent to a busted leg.

Repost: Greg's injury is scheduled to be re-evaluated on Tuesday according to the Oregonian
But if the small bone chip is found to be floating around, they will likely have to scope and flush the knee asap to prevent potential further damage. Nothing serious, but that could mean ca. another two weeks pause. Maybe one week if nothing is found since it could still be painful. Brace yourself for some more trolling in general forums like on ESPN about him being "injury prone" when they find something and (have to) announce it.

Please tell me what to do when someone requests a repost—delete or edit this one? Also, what about similar fanposts/shots—do they get combined?
Thanks for the help.

I put in "repost" because I already posted my comment in another fanpost, not to say something negative about this one
Can’t speak for Dave’s policy, but I wouldn’t delete fanposts or shots that already received comments. If there is new information, you can always edit it (and update date/time checkbox if it’s really substantial to bring it back on top of the fanposts). If it’s about breaking news and after you wrote yours you immediately see that someone else was quicker (or just sloppier and thus faster), only then maybe just put what you wanted to write as a comment in there and delete your post.

I seem
to remember a certain other young Western Conference center who suffered a very serious knee injury AGAIN. He’s not injury-prone, of course. Bill Simmons is right, Oden’s genetics is to blame for him landing on Bynum’s foot and now bumping knees with Maggette.
Some of this stuff is laughable.
Bynum should retire now, while he can still walk!
