Junk Drawer Friday, February 13 (SPOOKY)

It's not actually spooky. I live on the 13th floor of my apartment tower.

I didn't see a junk drawer yet, probably cause everyone is busy asking Dave questions in his late night open thread. Mad Props Dave!

but this is much more pressing and not even really basketball related.

it involves me buying a new pair of shoes. And what better place to get opinions than here.

so do i get these awesome Retro Jordan 1s: Sole to Sole (Tribe Called Quest - Tribute) better pictures here

Air-jordan-1-strap-tribe-called-quest-1_medium

or these equally awesome Jordan3 Air Force 1 fusions?

Jordan-force-iii-black-university-blue_medium

i don't have the same in depth pics for the second.

Man reason for the question is that my local Sneakershop here in Vancouver (LiveStock) is holding them for me till tomorrow at noon.

4 hours after my tax return comes through. and tax return means new kicks.

**Edit to make this more Junk Drawer conversation friendly and not a lame ploy to help me blow my tax return on shoes.**

So in honor of tax return season -- AKA new shoes season -- what are your favourite pair of shoes you've ever owned? I have to go with an old red and black pair of Nikes i found in the bargain bin when I was ten; Just old enough to wear adults shoes and they were super cheap cause no one wears size 3 or whatever they were.

But i got one signed by Brian Grant when he visited my primary school (he lived in West Linn at the time). still have it somewhere. sadly lost the other one.

Never owned a pair of Jordan's or any basketball shoes for that matter

I had a real nice pair of split toe Marko Bruni’s that I really liked.

Air Jordan VII FTW!

I also like the B’Loyal

Also, who here bought Reebok pumps after this? I know I did…

I always go to http://www.pickyourshoes.com at work and dream about sporting all the rad retro kicks that I used to beg my mom to buy me back in the day.

I wear the same thing to every game...no variations

shirt, pants, socks, shoes, underwear….every freakin’ time!!! I think that is why we have such good home record

Seriously though, I have a lot of blazer gear. I rotate thru it for games. I always wear the “opening night” hat though and a Jacket my wife bought me

Phoenix Stan is blogging the All-Star hoopla. A fun quote (for Twiggs):

Biggest scrum, by far, was for Rudy. There are a TON of Spanish media here and they really didn’t seem to care much about Big Bro Gasol. Rudy is the star and w/ that little smile of his, you can see why.

I'm so nervous about this trade deadline.

Of course I want us to do it if it’s right. But my heart is aching for whoever is on the go.
I really like this team and I’m trying to remember we have to do whatever it takes to better our
team.

I smell sweet potatoes

Do you think my neighbors would eat sweet potatoes in the morning? Maybe it’s a sweet potatoes pancake or left overs. And for some reason, it’s making me hungry for ham.

They do peanut fries. It sucked and was lame. Unrec.

Saw that reviewed in the Oregonian this morning

Looks like a lot of hype. They’re planning to open 27 restaurants in Oregon. Pretty amazing — those kind of expansion plans during a recession?

by Corvid on Feb 13, 2009 5:21 PM PST up reply actions

It was very gimmicky

They would yell when people walked in, and they had peanuts all over the place. People were eating them and just tossing them on the ground. The burgers were a 3 out of 10 at best. I won’t ever go back.

There was a recent post about people bringing in Flasks to games.

I was given a Trail Blazer flask for christmas and I have brought it to the few games I’ve been to since, including most recently the Thunder game. However, I would never blatantly drink from it as there are so many kids who are in every section. I usually just buy an overpriced cranberry juice, and pour it into that.

I thought it was sad that someone in the very last section got kicked out over this, while some very loud mouthed and vocally over the top fans don’t even get a warning. The RG makes so much money on vending, maybe they should worry a little less about small infractions in the last row.

If they shaved and cut their hair

They wouldn’t really look all the similar.

Marc is full faced and round, while Pau looks like a vulture.

They look like Portlanders.

I actually agree with the message of ‘ODEN IS OUR GUY GET OVER IT’, which is easier since I think Oden will be more successful in the long run.

I am also a homer.

I feel....abandoned....and a sense of FEAR

like when you walk out to the mailbox in the middle of the night and you walk slowly and calmly there, but then you get the mail, close the thing, and then SPRINT back to the house, jump inside, and lock the door.

That is how I feel commenting in this thread. Like I’m going out to the virtual mailbox.
