And you gotta love how much B.S. gets talked about on Blazersedge. I’ve seen all the others and none matches the completely off topic discussions that go down here.

"I would never die for my beliefs because I might be wrong." -Bertrand Russell

by TheTinfoil on Feb 11, 2009 5:19 PM PST up reply actions

I am not Dave

But I’ll answer too…

I dunno.

Amare is CLEARLY better than LMA. Not even close, though I am very high on LMA and think he will be an allstar. Amare is a SUPERSTAR, however, and those beat allstars.

But, Amare’s attitude, selfish play, need for touches, and complete lack of post defense outside of highlight reel blocks are worrisome. Stuff like that can win in the regular season and completely derail your championship hopes in the playoffs. Plus, Amare has to become the co-focal point of our offense— but will he agree to being a co-star still? Does he think he is “more” than Roy?

It’s a question only those in the know can truly answer. Talent wise, stat wise, on paper wise, Amare is so far beyond LMA that it isn’t even a question (and Amare is young to boot). But, that isn’t why this is up for debate… we’re all worried about how much he wants to be a Blazer and win some games, and not focusing on stats and his next contract (like everyone has ALWAYS said about him since day one).

So when I say “I dunno”, I’m not saying “LMA is better than Amare”. Just, that Amare might not be a good player for us in the long run because of his attitude and selfishness. I also don’t see why it would change.

And only KP and other GMs who know Amare better can decide if that is something that would actually make us better, or derail our hopes for the future. Is LMA’s rather timid nature a plus for this team, since we want Roy and Oden to be the focal points?

I dunno.

I think this

is the balanced outlook on this trade. People who feel it’s LMA or Amare all the way aren’t really looking at the full picture. I think it’s a pretty nuanced thing and I’m glad that it’s not up to me or anyone (well almost anyone) who reads this site.

Great post Morty.

I watched some of the Lakers/Thunder game last night...

I was amazed at how fast this team can play. They were in it with the Lakers for about a quarter and a half, just trading buckets. They like to run, they like to shoot, they don’t use hardly any of the shot clock. Several of them were hot, hitting shots that the Lakers clearly didn’t think they could hit. When the Lakers just traded buckets with them, it was anyone’s game.

The way the Lakers pulled away was by going into Pau Gasol in the paint. They don’t really have anyone who can defend a good post scorer. And the Lakers made every posession count, working for good shots and collecting offensive rebounds. They don’t have great rebounders either.

I was noticing the passes

their passes are quick and come before the defender (or the receiver…) know it’s there. They don’t seem to have an offensive set that takes advantage of this. It was all one pass and shoot.

Three things I want
  1. a win tonight
  1. Oden to go off the deep end tonight with 20 + and 15+ with 3+ blocks
  1. A good trade before the trade deadline. It doesn’t have to be a blockbuster but that might be cool.
  1. Make the playoffs

Four these FOUR things I want…

This is how we do it.
Its friday night, and I feel all right
The party is here on the west side
So I reach for my 40 and I turn it up
Designated driver take the keys to my truck
Hit the shore cause Im faded
Honeys in the street say, monty, yo we made it!
It feels so good in my hood tonight
The summertime skirts and the guys in kani
All the gang bangers forgot about the drive-by
You gotta get your groove on, before you go get paid
So tip up your cup and throw your hands up
And let me hear the party say

1- Im kinda buzzed and its all because
(this is how we do it)
South central does it like nobody does
(this is how we do it)
To all my neighbors you got much flavor
(this is how we do it)
Lets flip the track, bring the old school back
(this is how we do it)

This is how we do it, all hands are in the air
And wave them from here to there
If youre an o.g. mack or a wanna-be player
You see the hoods been good to me
Ever since I was a lower-case g
But now Im a big g. the girls see I got the money
A hundred-dollar bills yall

If you were from where Im from then you would know
That I gotta get mine in a big black truck
You can get yours in a 64

Whatever it is, the partys underway
So tip up your cup and throw your hands up
And let me hear the party say
(repeat 1…)

Im kinda buzzed and its all because
(this is how we do it)
South central does it like nobody does
(this is how we do it)
Ynv, scc, all my homies
(this is how we do it)
Ill never come wack on an old school track

Rap:

Check it out!
Once upon a time in 94
Montell made no money and life sure was slow
All they said was 68 he stood
And people thought the music that he made was good
There lived a d.j. and paul was his name
He came up to monty, this is what he said
You and og are gonna make some cash
Sell a million records and well make in a dash

Life is hilarious.

No help from the Magic tonight

Denver went on the road and is gonna topple Orlando in the Magic Kingdom. Cleveland pooed on Phoenix 109-92, Toronto beat San Antonio (I can dream that that loss is gonna affect them, right?) 91-89, and Boston is beating New Orleans by four midway through the third quarter. Kings trail Houston 39-35 at the half, and Utah currently has a 34-31 advantage over the L*kers in Salt Lake. Here’s to hoping a stadium collapse causes the uberrare double forfeit.

They always talking about defending the pick and roll

but then when the job needs to get done, they cant or dont know how to do it. Just look lost on defense.

And Oden, once again, is a rookie, so non-stop fast break basketball is like fast-forwarding a song while he's trying to learn the lyrics.

S equal {applicants who have received speeding tickets}, A= {applicants who have caused accidents}, and D = {applicants who have been arrested for driving while intoxicated}.

Describe {applicants who have not both caused accidents and received speeding tickets but who have been arrested for drunk driving} in set notation.

I feel like if I get the first couple of these, the rest of them will be easy enough, but I can’t get the first couple. :(

ok

those who HAVE both caused accidents and received speeding tickets is the INTERSECTION of S and A.

those who HAVE NOT both caused accidents and recieved speeding tickets is not(intersection(S,A))

those who HAVE NOT both caused accidents and recieved speeding tickets but HAVE been arrested for drunk driving is the INTERSECTION of not(intersection(S,A)) and D

so, {applicants who have not both caused accidents and received speeding tickets but who have been arrested for drunk driving} in set notation.is:

intersection(not(intersection(S,A)),D)

wow, that’s probobly tough to understand. hope it helps a little. you have to take it piece by piece like that.

If the person streaming doesn’t have any words on their channel suggesting the Blazers and don’t post it to the directory on justin.tv, I wonder if Comcast looks on places like this blog?

Even if someone is watching this blog

There is now way they could shut the stream down that fast. I don’t think they directly link to your IP. Plus… thats alot of money and effort for comcast to put in to keep all 30 people in here from watching the game..

i remember a preseason blazer game that had a really crappy feed and it had more than a hundred viewers.

i wouldn’t be surprised if comcast had a direct contact at justin tv and is threatening to sue if they don’t close any channel that is pirating their broadcast. then they just monitor this or another forum (same feeds will show up on O-live prolly) and have em pulled one by one.

What separates Amare from Zach? Apart from the athleticism, they are basically the same except Zach is a much better rebounder. Amare does with athleticism and Zach does it with skill.

Westbrook should not be getting those boards

If someone got a darn defensive rebound, Westbrook would be looking horrible for not getting back on D.

The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.

Comments like this about him

were fairly common around here leading up to the draft. There was a lot of hype too, but a lot of headscratchingly bizarre comparisons and claims

only real complaint is the rebounding.

I give credit to the Thunder

They are no wimps like the Blazers. They are attacking the hoop relentlessly. The Blazers are shooting jumpers exclusively for no reason.

the nicks game was better so far.

Greg needs a double double and more blocks to beat that game. But this is a good game so far.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
