How much would you give up to get Butler

Tried a few things in Trade Machine and this seemed ot be the one it was most likely that the Wizards would agree to: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=3204~2754~454~3025~1705~851&teams=27~27~27~27~22~22

That's RLEC, Rudy, Sergio and Channing for Butler and Etan Thomas. In my opinion that's still a good trade for us (barely), assuming the team gave Martell a contract for a reason. Sucks to lose Rudy, but I have trouble seeing the Wizards take Outlaw and change (I'm figuring Bayless + maybe the rights to Koppenen).

This seemed like the best trade I could come up with that seemed believable. Hinrich + Deng would be fantastic, but seems questionable from Chicago's end of it.

Lame

We don’t need to trade our team for a player that cant even run his own team in the east. We have enough scorers we need defence,Butler has D but he would also demand the points

ALLLL Rudy Then!!!!!

Actually, Caron Butler is a pretty lazy defender.

A lot of the Washington Wizards’ problems this season has been caused by the poor defense of Antawn Jamison and Butler, who probably hate it that defensive anchor Brendan Haywood is stuck on the inactive list with an injury.

Butler would be a huge pick-up

Guy is stud and plays hard.

If RLEC, Travis, Frye, Sergio, 1st rounder would get it done, I’d happily do it.

Caron Butler is a Joy to Watch; trust me, you want him in your foxhole

I live in DC and Love the Wizards. Watching Caron Butler the past 4 seasons he has become probably my favorite player of all time. He NEVER takes plays, plays physical, intense, aggresive, unselfish basketball. He is not a “Superstar”, but he plays within himself and gets you 20 pts, 6 boards, 4 assists, and 2 steals per game all within the flow of the game. Trust me, I have watched him play 300 times in recent memory, and the Wizards struggles have NOTHING to do with Caron. He is an ideal 2nd Option, who would put the Blazers in contention right now. Last years playoff, Game 5, at Cleveland, Wiz down 3-1, lEbron looking to clinch, Caron Butler owned him in the 4th quarter and hit the game winning shot over lEbron.

The Wiz would agree to OP trade in a heartbeat.

just some clips of huge caron butler games in recent years.

The Blazers would have to be crazy not to find a combination of bench players and Raef to trade for him.

I'm not inclined to do any deal

with Rudy involved. He has a ton of potential, and to all those who would dismiss losing him as no big deal since we already have Roy, I hate to say it but given Roy has missed at least some time with injury every year he’s been in the league, it is a very important thing to have a quality backup so he doesn’t need to average 40+ mpg (plus, they can play together as 1-2 or 2-3). Butler is good, but not worth that price.

Jerryd Bayless = Marlo Stanfield
- Early stage Marlo at this point, but Bayless is the emotionless killer new to the game. He will take over, and there will be casualties – it’s just a matter of time.

eh

Rudy is going to be a lot better than Butler in a year or two.

Nothing. Don't like the guys game at all, it doesn't fit, and he isn't a winner.

Gerald Wallace is the guy Portland is going after, but he just got hurt pretty bad.

i believe the catch phrase is

Rudy leaves over my dead body.

in addition

i honestly feel all of our rookies are currently being treated by KP as untouchable, this means the list of untouchables is Roy, Rudy, Oden, LA, Batum, Bayless and more than likely Blake and Pryzy too (In addition there is no way Webster is going anywhere with that boot still on). So possible trade bait would be Outlaw, Shav, Sergio, Ike, RLC, and of course Frye. (In addition there is no way Webster is going anywhere with that boot still on).

Now out of that list of six players is there a trade that nets us Butler? I doubt it…

agree on all but Blake

assuming we are getting a starting PG back, he’s not untouchable at all. the rest I agree with.

Rule #1 of nitpicking is to get it right.

Why trade at all?

Every team looks for youth and cap space when they make a move. We have both already, and we’re winning, so why are so many so eager to make a trade? If we start losing then maybe, but until then we shouldn’t do anything.

Why so many are so eager to make a trade

Its a cunning and baffling disease many are powerless over… through no fault of their own….

Just to follow up on some of my original thinking

I love Rudy myself, he’s probably my favorite player on the team right now — but he’s also probably our most tradeable asset, and you tend to have to give up something you really like to get something better.

I think Butler would be a marked upgrade in a lot of ways is still plenty young, and knows how to work with other superstars. Also, I think Travis is undervalued right now because of a slight regression and a lack of playing time. Ultimately he can give us 90 percent if not more of what Rudy gives us now.

So long as KP made a good decision in re-signing Martell and either Bayless or Koppenen work out down the road, I don’t think we lose a whole lot.

Lineup goes from Aldridge/Frye, Batum/Outlaw, Roy/Fernandez, Blake/Rodriguez to Aldridge/Outlaw, Butler/Batum, Roy/Webster (or Bayless), Blake/Bayless (or eventually Koppenen). Seems like an improvement to me.

you are right about having to give up some thing in order to get something

right now that thing is RLC, not Rudy.
