Gameday Open Thread: Blazers vs. Pacers--Pre-Game and First Half
I'm guessing that this won't be one of the highest-traffic games of the year so we're trying out just two Gameday Threads today. This one will go through the pre-game and on into the first half. As always please keep on topic, be respectful of each other, welcome newcomers, and avoid posting illegal links or requests for same. Enjoy!

Times like these
require teams to have an offensive system that any player can execute, not just isolation plays and the hope of getting some fast break opportunities. Pryzbilla, Cunningham, Howard should be able to benefit from plays run for their position: they need to contribute some given number of points a game from plays run for them not just clean up points.
Nice
I want to see Joel get some isos.
Still on the Rex bandwagon.

Travis Outlaw, the Funnel Cake of the Blazers
I wonder if being home and recuperating isn’t a good thing for Nate. It gives him a chance to step back and take a long look at his offensive schemes and the players he has left to work with. He might have a eureka moment and shake it up a little. Maybe a blessing in disguise…
I should not sarcastically mock someone I don’t completely agree with.

You know, truly
They ought to be able to win many games, just the two of them. When you think about the supporting casts many other dynamic duos have had, we have no excuses. Think about the guys surrounding Stockton and Malone, Kobe & Shaq, Michael and Scotty, hell Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp. Even after all our injuries, the guys we have left are at least as good as what the aforementioned had for teammates, and every one of those pairs went deep year after year.
Man, no LP in HD tonight, and not even an alternate broadcasting team choice.
How are Indiana’s announcers? I can’t remember.
Quinn Buckner (who does some college basketball during march madness) is their color commentator I think
He’s a “meh.” Can’t remember anything about their play by play guy.
#52
Doesn't sound as bad as NO or Cleveland, so good enough.
As a bonus, Friday night’s game is nationally televised, so I don’t have to listen to their announcing team Friday night.
hmmm, its entirely possible I confused Buckner with Kellogg, or they might both work for the Pacers.
#52
quick check reveals that both Buckner and Kellogg work for them, they share the analyst duties apparently.
I kind of like Kellogg. Buckner is more “meh.” Not sure who it will be tonight.
#52
I am taking tonight old school, listening via radio. I think it will be good for me.

#52
yeah, I will miss the second quarter anyway.
But I have finals and I figure I’ll just do some previous exams with Wheels narrating the action. He can be depressing, but radio is nostalgic for me.

Keys to the game:
1) Score more points than the Pacers. History shows when you do this, you win approximately 100% of the time.
2) Put the basketball through our hoop. This usually translates into points.
3) Prevent the Pacers from putting the basketball through their hoop. Advanced statistical analysis proves this increases a team’s point total and one of the keys is to score more points than the Pacers.

I'm ok if refs continue forever
As long as they pass stringent mental and visual acuity tests and a physical fitness test yearly.
I’m not sure Dick would pass one.
It was a flawless plan before Oden went down.

You know
Its amazing how much better the offense runs with either Bayless or Miller in there, or both.

Wild thought.
Someone injure Blake in a manner that doesn’t hurt but will sideline him for just a week. Then Andre can play PG with Roy, things will work out happy-go-lucky, and Blake will live in the bench forevermore.
You are too optimistic.

That was a much better attempted play with just over 2 seconds left
Than the Blazers ran at the end of the 1st.
I love that play
toss it to one of your bigs up the court and have him pass it to one of your guards, who are sprinting up court. Pretty difficult to guard.

He's terrible. I'm actually not sure there's another team in the NBA he would start for.
Blake: 17 minutes, zero points, three assists, one steal
Bayless: 12 minutes, five points, two assists
Miller: 9 minutes, five points, two assists, three steals

look like GREAT defenders, hustlers, and point guards… in comparison…
Bayless isn’t creating much, but he’s also able to get to the basket with insane ease against this team.
get well soon, big guy.

He does that a lot
And he’s becoming smarter with his shot selection.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
Bulls fans have figured out that Rose decides before the drive if he wants to shoot or pass
I feel Bayless does that too, but his scoring percentages are actually better.
