Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Dear Blazers

Just a quick note to say that we, your fans, are right behind you.

Everything hurts right now, but Blazer fans have never been fair weather fans.  You're going to have to pull together as a team, dig deep, and work a lot harder.  Life is like that sometimes.

Everyone knows what kind of basketball players you guys are, but this is your chance to show them what kind of men you are, what you are made of down deep inside.  Most Blazer fans already know, but the rest of the world doesn't.  You get to show them.  It is in adversity that strength shines through, and this season just became a lot more about character than about talent.  The league and the city will see your quality now.

We don't care about wins right now.  All we care about is going out there as a team and fighting the best you can.  You'll win more than people think, and you'll help Greg keep his head up.  He deserves to have his team stand up for him now, his team and his fans.  But most of all, you will be able to stand proud knowing you've done all you can, and we'll be right behind you.

We're with you all the way.

Guess what?

We aren’t going to win a championship this year.

Deeper in the playoffs? Who cares right now? All I care about right now is pulling together and playing hard. What comes will come, as far as wins are concerned.

The worst part about this (winning a title wise)

And I think jksnake will agree, we now have to wait another year for the team to learn how to play with Greg. This was going to be that year. Take some losses and ugly play for the greater good of developing a three headed monster.

Yep pretty much what stings the most, besides Oden's own health that is

Not just a setback for Greg and the team, but specifically the chemistry between Roy, Aldridge, and Oden.

The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.

how can u not be about wins

this is professional sports, not little league. WINS MATTER! I don’t care how happy and loving everyone is, or how hard they try, if they cant win, something is wrong!

by GetOver on Dec 5, 2009 11:23 PM PST reply actions

are we going to win the title this year without greg?

uhh no

We should focus on getting to the playoffs but we should also try and work on getting the team working better together.

I wouldnt be too worried about getting DEEPER in the playoffs as it is.

by GreatOden'sRaven on Dec 5, 2009 11:28 PM PST up reply actions

so because were not gonna win a title

wins shouldnt matter?

why not just sit out the season then? i mean really, who cares right? were not gonna win a title. Why don’t we just have everyone gather round and eat cake and share there fondest moments.

i wasn’t, but i do disagree with you

by GetOver on Dec 6, 2009 1:17 AM PST up reply actions

Read it in context, friend

We’re not going to win as many games this year as we would have. It doesn’t matter. What matters is going out there and competing as hard as we can. That obviously means get as many wins as we can.

But no real Blazer fan really cares right now that we won’t win as many as we would have. All we really care about is Greg getting well and coming back good next year, and the team getting out and doing the best they can.

no i understand the letter

the last response, was more of a response to other responses (odd wording?)

such as

which to me basically says, because of our injuries we shouldnt expect anything from our team. of course i want greg and everyone else to get better, but i still expect us to compete even with these injuries

by GetOver on Dec 5, 2009 11:55 PM PST up reply actions

I don't know what to expect right now

So many injuries. Look, we’re one more significant injury from probably missing the playoffs. I don’t even know that we can make it even if there are no more injuries.

But I am not going to be down on this team if injuries keep us out of the playoffs, as long as we compete and do our best. Will you?

#52

by jscot on Dec 6, 2009 12:12 AM PST up reply actions

no but i think

people have already started to give up. Look at the rockets, they have been able to make do with what they have, and are competing with any team out there (including a w over the lakers) all im trying to say is it is way to early to be acting like this season is over and we have no chance.

by GetOver on Dec 6, 2009 1:20 AM PST up reply actions

This fan post wasn't about giving up

so if you think it is a problem, perhaps you should write one to discuss it.

This fanpost is about pulling together and finding strength in adversity, and our support for the team. I assume you agree with all of that, so all is good.

Love, Respect and Support to My Blazers.

One very positive thing in all of this is that even if Greg is out for an entire year
he will still only be 22 years old when he re-emerges back onto the court.
My greatest wish is that the organization and medical staff will research every possible option at their disposal, collectively and carefully determine which procedure would
most effectively alleviate the existing condition which is causing his injuries, and once that is determined move forward aggressively with that course of action.
It is my belief that Greg will attack the subsequent rehabilitation with a ferocity and focus that even he himself is unaware he possesses. Greg is a bona fide, battle tested and documented fighter. He will dig deeper than he ever has in his life. He wants this more than any one of us could possibly begin to fathom. Knowing that he was at the point where he was “thee” heir to the throne of most dominant he will fight hard to re-assume his rightful place, on the front line, as the leader and the anchor of this awesome Portland TrailBlazers Team.

And a note to those of you who have rescinded your support of Greg and the team. Well I guess that’s the other positive in this, all the fakes will get weeded out. All the true, loyal, lifelong, die hard, ride or die, win, lose or draw fans will stay down and stay supportive.
Go Blazers and Greg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just another bump in the road

I’ve stuck by this team through the “Jail-Blazer” era so this is nothing. four, five seasons from now we’ll all look back at this and laugh, as we become major contenders for a championship I really believe that their is something to gain from Saturdays tragic events. Its too early to tell what that is at this point. However, I truly believe that we will be a much stronger team when all this is said and done.

Greg, knowing what I know now I would still pick you over whoever in the draft. You are a talented big-man with an even bigger heart. All your hard work will not go unrewarded. Don’t ever loose faith and don’t ever forget that the true fans of this team and this city will always give that unconditional love and support.

Godspeed!!!

Would have been bad enough had this been the only injury but c’mon…this ain’t right.

Also sucks for us fans, but that seems selfish right now.

Wins matter

We all love our teams. We all want to see them win. Everything comes with wins. When our team learns to play together (like the Rockets; and don’t tell me we’re not better than the Rockets) we will win. We have a top three SG on our team who can do a D-Wade and put the team on his back and carry us into the playoffs. We just need those other guys to rally behind him and wedge our way into the playoffs and maybe to the second round.

by Bertram on Dec 6, 2009 11:10 AM PST reply actions

do you mean our 3 will make one Wade?

Ok , but they won’t let us play with 7 guys…So lets just trade our top 3 for him (just kidding, but Wade is an exceptional player)….. also, we are not better than the Rockets….they proved to be better last year in the playoffs (and we had home court advantage)…Should we be better…Yup….but we haven’t proven otherwise yet…..
I think whats more important to this team right now is to prove they belong on the floor against other good teams…they have an opportunity to “gut check” and what better time to respond…the wins will become a product of good play and fundamental soundness….As a fan, all I would like to see is some inspiring play made out of hustle and desire…..Out of this, the players will begin to have fun, and therefore the fans will too…………..
Don’t ever forget the importance of Nate and KP in this setback….they will decide if this is temporary or not….You cannot continue to hope for the future and hold onto this forever…some weaknesses have been exposed this year and Injuries are part of the game…..Oden has to be labeled as injury prone, because he is…A tag that seems to hang heavier with big men….In the NBA you have to have a flexible body….Greg’s is just not that flexible……yup, we all feel bad for the guy and the team….but it is what it is…….

by WyEast on Dec 6, 2009 12:42 PM PST up reply actions

A winning season and a playoff berth would be gravy at this point.

All of the people who were calling for more development minutes for the young guys are going to get their wish.

It’s almost less stressful when your team is an underdog, kind of a no risk/high reward fan experience. That’s the closest thing to a positive spin that I could possibly muster, but that’s never been my strong point.

I just hope that none of the fans hate on GO for this like they do with Sam Bowie. Oden’s a great guy and I hope people will speak well of him whether or not he ever comes back and has a viable career. With all the guy does for mentor programs like Big Brother/Big Sister, I’d never say they drafted the wrong guy.

Keep your expectations low and you won't be disappointed.

by Benjamanic on Dec 6, 2009 5:24 PM PST reply actions

How about as fans we have a chance to show the rest of the NBA something?

I’m as tempted as anyone, but I hope we don’t see a mass exodus from the bandwagon. After some soul-searching I’ve decided to root harder than ever before. That is provided the reamining players give us something – anything – to root for.

Well expressed for me as well

I agree that wins are not the important issue this year. What I am looking for is individual and team growth. The next 6 weeks will likely determine Andre’s future with the Blazers and my hope is that he will integrate with the team and be part of it on and off the floor.

There is plenty of hope left in this season for me but it will be every game a rocky road until we mesh. Thanks for the on-target message jscot. We can maybe be less strident as fans over losses and be more looking for long-term. In fact perhaps we can grow as a fan team in appreciating each person’s perspectives and pulling together for the team.

Dear Blazers

I could get all weepy and say that I’ll remain a fan even when you mail it in like you did vs. the Knicks last night. I would like to amaze my friends by how loyal I am even when you don’t give effort and fold to horrible teams without so much as a peep. But there’s this problem of realism. The problem of only having a certain amount of free time and money and plethora of things to spend it on. So for now I’m going to take that free time and money and spend it on products that are entertanining and worthwhile. Half-ace efforts vs. the Knicks do not meet those standards.

Peace out BE, see you again when the team is legit.
