I would love for the Kings to make the playoffs

And we’ve been playing much better than last year, but I think we’re still a year away from playoffs.

Wow... its great to see roy in his last season form

I will throw my mouthpiece across the court if I disagree with you.

by SabasforThree on Dec 5, 2009 9:38 PM PST reply actions

Here’s what I want to see from the rest of this season.

Brandon Roy

Brandon Roy must continue to develop his game, given his astronomical shooting percentage off picks (I hope he has been shown the stats) he needs to become an excellent mover off the ball and utilise it. He must also expand his offensive game on the pick and roll, becoming an even better passer, specifically in finding the rolling pick setter, using lob passes, bounce passes and, if he’s feeling adventurous, one handed, off the bounce passes that ideally would catch a defender off guard. While I suggest his jump shot off picks are itilised more often, I do put in the disclaimer that I would like to see less iso jumpers. Less iso players in general.

Defensive commitment, whether instigated by Roy or the coach, is also an obvious need.

LaMarcus Aldridge

LaMarcus HAS to develop more of a post game now, our lack of interior firepower, even with Greg Oden available, is drastic. If LaMarcus has a solid, efficient post game, it can be used to counteract Pryzbilla’s complete ineffectiveness and provide the spacing sorely needed to allow the Blazer offense to work. I would also hope for work on putting the ball on the floor and driving to the hoop, keeping the defender more honest and hopefully raising his jumpshot percentage which he insists on shooting.

Again, coach or LaMarcus instigated defensive effort, including help defense work.

Jerryd Bayless

After Oden’s season ending injury both Blake and Andre Miller become increasingly unimportant. Blake, who is not yet too old, will be becoming too old in two years time when he will be 32 heading into the play-offs. Already a fairly ineffectual point guard, two years of aging will render him obsolete defensively and increasingly poorly offensively. Andre Miller is clearly going to be too old and too out of contract. Jerryd Bayless may have a future with the Blazers, more than the other two can say. He could become effective defensively and a decent shooter. That is all the Blazers need, plus, his tireless work ethic make him a low risk proposition.

I would start him right now and give him the minutes, why drag out the tiring and futureless Blake?

Andre Miller

I would like to see Andre continue playing if used correctly. If he can be used to effectively give the ball to cutters, pick setters and players coming off picks it could set a precedent and encourage good movement, something the Blazers need. He has something to teach.

Steve Blake

His minutes need to diminish, rapidly.

Martell Webster

Off the ball movement, off the ball movement, off the ball movement. Combine it with a consistent defensive work ethic and we have a decent 3 for the Blazers offensive system.

Joel Przybilla

Joel needs to improve his turnover percentage, it is not going to happen at this point in his career however it would still be nice.

Rudy Fernandez

Rudy is still a young player with potential. He needs to handle the ball more often to address that weakness and he needs to continue his current defensive improvement, working on footwork and spacing. He needs, rest, the back problem is worrying.

Nicolas Batum

Please come back

Travis Outlaw

He isn’t going to be here much longer, let it play out.

Dante Cunnigham

He has had an impressive start, if he continues to show the same effort, hustle and smarts along with that deadly jumper he can be an effective back up power forward.

Juwan Howard

Nothing is going to change here.

I’m sure there’s more, I’m trying to look at where to go next.

It's a tune-out fest.

Bayless on the floor at +12

better point differential during his minutes than any other player tonight. Nice to see him develop and be in the right place at the right time. Also, his mid-range jumper is looking much better.

That's how we come back from injuries especially what happened with Greg.

We scrap and fight and pull out a victory by the skin of our teeth. A win is never ugly.

I'm sad about Oden and all but

anyone think we might be better w/o him for the time being? Just revert back to last year’s Roy/Aldridge combo and dominate.

by thetsaiguy on Dec 5, 2009 9:43 PM PST reply actions

That's not dumb at all

this year it may make the team better, but the future is definitely with Oden

Bittersweet win.

Love to see the Blazers pull this game out after Oden’s injury.

Off-topic. If Blazersedge decided to ban anything related to John Canzano or Adrian Wojowhatever, I would be all for it.

It’ll be interesting how the Blazers will adjust to Oden and McMillan’s absence this coming week.

How sad can this season get?

Losing Batum then Outlaw both for 60% of the year and now Oden for the season. We still don’t know whats up with Rudy. At best we are a .500% team that might make the playoffs at the 7th or 8th seed.

Best win of the year considering the circumstances

I liked how we stepped up. But all in all rather minor in the whole scheme of things.

Oden, Batum and Outlaw are out. Nate is having surgery and Rudy might not be able to travel with his back problems. There will be a lot os space on the plane. Yo KP, can I hitch a ride?

Not really

Sure, a championship is pretty much out of the question, but we still have Roy and LA…even with a smaller supporting cast, still good enough to fight our way into the playoffs. Think about the team we beat tonight, and all the injuries to stars they’ve overcome to make it the last couple years. It’s terrible for the team, Greg, and fans, but hopefully some character-building can at least be accomplished. Get well Greg!

Yes oden is helping us this year alot BUT

last year oden was not a major factor in us getting to the playoffs, batum will be back outlaw might be back before the season is over, we have two bright rookies coming back soon… why are people thinking that we will not make it to the playoffs or just be a 7 or 8 seed??? the blazers are extremely strong still! Roy most likely will step up and we still can improve. Roy was saying how he wasnt getting shots because everyone was trying to get the ball to greg… well now roy will get his shot! we still have a ton of time in the season… we will be in the playoffs!

by je'mapple on Dec 5, 2009 10:07 PM PST reply actions

This injury will unite us.

The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of Greg Oden.

by fajunga on Dec 5, 2009 10:09 PM PST reply actions

What can we expect this team to do?

Pryz can’t handle the middle on his own, LMA is not at his best and we have Batum and Outlaw. It would be an achievement if we are able to end the season at .500%
We also still have Blake on our team. Of all the players to get injured, why couldn’t have been someone like Blake?

by VinnyB on Dec 5, 2009 10:09 PM PST reply actions

We just beat the rockets, our worst mismatch, under those circumstances.

by VinnyB on Dec 5, 2009 10:12 PM PST reply actions

I hope we run more

and get a rotation that works once Rudy gets back. Question is what do we do with the 5 spot? Joel needs a quality backup and Aldridge cannot fulfill that and remain effective. KP looked like I feel in that press conference. The black cloud better not get larger….can it?

It could

But it would involve #7 or #12 and I don’t even want to think that.
