Say we Trade miller-Who would help the team most?
This rumor is flying around. The one that sends miller packing. What trade for miller WOULD make the most sense for the blazers AND the other team. I see 2 BIG MAYBES - a trade for battier or a combo of miller and someone for caron butler. Any other ideas?

I can think of a couple
I’d say maybe Blake and Martell and some cash for Hinrich.
The bulls will save about 5 million and get an outside shooter on the wing. The Blazers get a defensive point guard who can shoot from the outside and has a way better handle than Blake
Would the Bulls take Miller and Webster and Blake for Hinrich and Tyrus? Who knows.
The Bulls would save the money from Blake’s expiring contract, Miller would come off the books a year earlier than Hinrich and at around 2 mil cheaper.
Or maybe the Blazers can work out a deal using Miller and Bayless for Hinrich.
Good luck to KP in figuring it all out.
One more thing. Go Blazers!!!

The team still needs the same thing we needed this summer.
A power forward. Bringing in Miller has been a bit of a disaster, not because of his play so much as how the move screwed up the games of a few other players, and the team chemistry. When everyone was crying about how we needed to add vets to this team, I said “no thanks”. The time for that was two years ago. Now we have a group of guys who are coming of age together, and if they can muster another playoff appearance this year, will be vets themselves. All we needed was a guy who could score in the post and back up LMA to have a very good well rounded team. A “bad fit” addition and a rash of injuries including one to the indispensable LMA, who does not have a back-up, and we are in turmoil. At this point the idea of bringing Joel Freeland over and letting the “cake bake” that I was for during the summer seems bloody brilliant, but I know that was too simple for those who thought we could turn Blake and Outlaw’s contracts and the bit of cap space into CP3. I wish the cap money had not existed, just so we could be watching the team play the way they are capable of now.
I actually like Andre Miller, just not for this team. As far as who we should trade him for, It seems like we let every mid-level PF get snatched up by other teams while we were trying to get Turkoglu.
I like Brandon Bass, but we let him get away, and because of the bad contract we forced Utah into, we can’t get Milsap now either. I’d like to have Scola, but like most of the players at that position, who I like, he is not a guy we have a very realistic shot at. Peja Stojakovic is a SF/PF who can do a lot of things well, and would fit the Blazers a lot better than Turkoglu would have, but again a guy we probably would have a tough time getting. Peja though could be worth it, since he could become the starting SF, and move to PF when LMA is out. I haven’t looked at salaries, so this is just an idea off the top of my head. To me, Scola is ideal for what the team needs, but probably too good to be a back up, and not quite able to play SF, while Peja is a guy who is a “tweener” who would give us a good player that we could use in a number of ways, even if he isn’t the ideal back-up PF. He would be better at PF than Outlaw, and an upgrade over our SFs, especially in light of the injuries.
the reason you want a few vets
is that if you have all the roster at around 24-28 years old, they’re going to want PT and shots to pad their stats for when they’re free agents. Nate can talk all he wants to about “sacrificing” but it’s easier to sell that to 30+ year old vets who have already gotten their big FA contracts and are trying to get a ring playing for the MLE
I agree a better reserve PF should be the goal, but from what we’re hearing the Blazers are looking for a 4-3 who can shoot, because that’s what they lost when Outlaw went down. Here are some names I put together last night on another thread:
…for another team to acquire Andre, KP would probably accept just a reserve SF-PF at this point. I suspect there are a few GMs out there who wouldn’t mind dumping a 7 mil long-term contract in return for Miller’s "only" 2 years guaranteed deal
Here’s a few names
Marvin Williams, signed through 2014
(Especially if Bibby were to get hurt, ATL could start Crawford at SF?)
Jason Maxiell, signed through 2013
(Prince is coming back, Stuckey and Miller at PG? This would be my preference)
Vladimir Radmanovic, similar deal to Miller, once played for Nate up in Seattlte
(this would make me puke, but you never know…Bad Vlad is a 4-3 who can shoot, I don’t know how soon he could be re-traded, though)
James Posey, signed through 2012
(CP3 would probably have to get hurt for this to happen, and I would not be happy)
Darko Milicic, expiring contract
(someone mentioned this on the sidebar, NY will not take on Miller’s 2010 salary)
Nick Collison, similar deal to MIller
(AK1984 would have kittens, but why does OKC need Miller?)
Andres Nocioni, signed through 2013
(Blech, Sac-town would do this in a heartbeat, even though they don’t need Andre)
Andrea Bargnani, signed through 2015
(yes it’s silly, but if Calderon were to get hurt and Toronto wanted to dump AB’s LTC…?)
Antawn Jamison, signed through 2012
(KP would have to throw in Outlaw or Webster’s salary, please don’t let KP be a AJ fan!)
There are some real stinkers in there, but desperate times could call for desperate measures. We can all dream of a Blake for Bass deal, or a Caron Butler coup…but when the dust settles don’t be surprised if we get stuck with someone similar to the names up above

If Nate wants a jump shooting PG then
we should go after Daniel Gibson. He’s much better than Blake from 3pt land this year and has developed a mid-range shot as well. He’s cheap so a swap with Blake might do it.

Rec'd for the logic
Not sure if Gibson is the answer. I haven’t really watched his game, but it appears we need a PG in the John Paxson, Steve Kerr, Derek Fisher vane more than we need a great playmaking PG.
I’ve been thinking lately that Eddie House would be perfect, but he’s not available. Don’t really know enough PGs like that to know who to suggest.
Trade him for that chair that guarded Yi Jianlian in his draft video
Start Andre Miller NOW to showcase him for a trade.

They say that you can find anything on the internet.
But I cannot find a pineapple shooting threes. It must be because they’re so rare. And someone (or something) with a rare three point shooting ability is exactly what we need. This is where you come in. Since you’re in Hawaii, you should become a scout for the Blazers and find this rare ability, so we can have OKC sign the pineapple with their cap space, and we can trade Miller for the pineapple. We’ll include cash considerations, because Paul Allen is rich (I’m not sure there’s any other reason). This all sounds brilliant in my mind. Therefore it must be a brilliant idea to everyone else as well.

2 trades
Trade Andre Miller for Hinrich straight up, Trade Blake for Bass. get the players we should have this off season.
Lineup –
PG Hinrich/ Bayless
SG Roy/ Rudy
SF Martell/ Roy
PF LA/ Dante
C Oden/ Pryz
"Stay Humble"
that would be awsome
not sure if either the Bulls or magic do those trades.

Miller for Bass
The rumor was that KP wanted another forward, and Bass isn’t getting any playing time in Orlando now that Rashard Lewis is back because Bass is also behind Ryan Anderson. With Jameer Nelson injured again, this makes sense for both teams.

I think the Blazers want a forward who could play some 3 as well as 4
Bass doesn’t really fit that category (but neither does Jason Maxiell, who is someone I would prefer.) Miller doesn’t seem like the kind of PG that the Magic would pursue (not a shooter) but maybe they’ll get desperate to add a “replacement” Nelson now that Rafer Alston is gone? Orlando would have to add another player to make the salaries match (Redick?)

Would they really have to?
That’s ok, too.

Can we get Miller to run the show
with a real Blazer starting lineup for a few games before we toss him overboard?
Just thinking that might be an idea to try out. Might as well. Just to see.
What do you guys think?
miller running
the show is going to leave b-roy doing his best martell/batum impression and no matter what he might say to the press he will be fuming (rightly so) . Miller is gone as soon as a willing trade partner is found.
By running the show
I mean being a point guard. I can’t see any reason why Brandon can’t try using a point guard for a few games. He may even like it. Why can’t Brandon do something when someone else has the ball? I’m thinking he may indeed start to play team basketball a little more, get Oden involved, get others involved and still get his own shots. His last few public statements give me hope.
I’m don’t think anyone would ask that he doesn’t get any iso plays. Fourth quarter Roy show is fine.
Just try utilizing Miller’s talent along with Roy’s and everyone else’s. I am not really convinced that that isn’t possible, especially since it really hasn’t been tested to any significant degree.
