This sucks!

My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

by OCBlazerFan1 on Dec 28, 2009 9:31 PM PST reply actions

They took it from 100% to about 40% though.

Off games are ok but lack of effort peeves me

Chad Ford on Oden, "He's definitely a defensive force... I don't think he'll ever put up the big numbers that Shaq did. But he could be the best big man defender in the league... frankly, having a 7 footer that can do that will produce more rings than a 6-11 small forward who can score 30 ppg. That was the thinking all along why GMs preferred Oden to Durant. KD is the sexier player and as an offensive player there is just no comparison. KD is great. Oden is aspiring to average. But defensively, Oden could be dominant. KD ... not so much."

Could have said it better myself. Thanks Mr. Ford!

The Blazers are a bunch of bums

nah just kidding, you knew this was a letdown game and there it was

Beat the Clippers and it's all good.

If the Blazers relax, they will lose like tonight.

Chris Kaman and Marcus Camby

Are suddenly very scary.

ugh, indeed

we might get absolutely obliterated on the glass. Hadn’t thought of that.

Kaman is an allstar contender.

Why?

Our rebounding wasn’t the problem tonight.

by Pooh Richardson on Dec 28, 2009 9:41 PM PST up reply actions

This is true.

The Blazers actually did a better job on the boards than the Sixers. The bigs just couldn’t stop layups or Brand.

hmmm

I just looked up the stats and the Clips are not nearly as good a rebounding team as I would have expected. LMA and Howard hitting the glass with those two is still scary.

So Camby’s knee is ok?

It's been said that Bayless can't run a team, can't shoot from outside, well we've found out that what he really can't do is lose a big game. -Mike Rice

by pxilpooshr on Dec 28, 2009 9:39 PM PST up reply actions

Our best chance of making sure he misses the game

Is to discuss trading for him as much as possible in the leadup.

The Blazers injury demon is a strong one….that should be all it takes

I can tell you already, Bayless is probably not going to have a good shooting game.

We need Blake to make 3’s in that game.

if i had a dollar for every time LMA made a somewhat strong move to the middle .... and then kicked it out meekly

i would’ve made about 3 or 4 dollars tonight and probably close to a hundred bucks so far this season

We are taking on Chris Kaman and Marcus Camby with who?

fair point.

Our best hope is their perimeter players taking dumb shots, which they do on a fairly consistent basis.

when you are hoping bayless’ midrange game will be on

Brandon and LA have the all-to-familiar

Good statistical games that didn’t really help the team much.

Hate those.

Yep

Bad team D, bad individual D. Our offense was actually okay…just missed shots. But that defense, yuck.

by Pooh Richardson on Dec 28, 2009 9:46 PM PST up reply actions

Problem with the Blazers is no reliable 2nd option.

LMA tends to disappear and a rotating group of player step up behind Roy. Tonight, Roy didn’t play well and no one else was able to score on the Sixers.

By big take home positive for the night

Is that Pendy looks like someone capable of being the backup banger/rebounder/tough guy we will need for the rest of this season and beyond.

Loved the Penderbender nickname too – hope that one sticks

He's a banger no doubt, but he's not much of a shot blocker,

and we really could have used a shot bloker tonight. This was one of those games where Pryz/Oden could have gone for 8+

Keep playing your hearts out!

Good game from Pendergraph tonight... not much else good to be said

BRoy put up decent numbers but missed some potentially clutch hoops, and Blake and Bayless were ineffectual.

Sixer bigs drank our milkshake all night long.

looking for some rational opinions, because i can't seem to find them elsewhere.

i’m having an argument @ OLive over the idea that Zbo is better than Aldridge this year, and that if you switched the two one-for-one, the Blazers with Zach would be better than Memphis with Aldridge.

Agree, or disagree?

by CleBlazer on Dec 28, 2009 10:07 PM PST reply actions

Stat-Bo is still Stat-Bo, so no.

Seriously? Despite what people think of LMA, he at least trys to play defense.

by Pooh Richardson on Dec 28, 2009 10:09 PM PST up reply actions

oddly enough

aldridge has a worse oppPER, and averages the same .5 blks that ZBo is.

DRtg

Aldridge: 104 (career best)
Randolph: 111 (1 shy of career worst)

I haven't seen many Memphis games this year

is Z-Bo still a blackhole when he recieves the ball?

Really, I watched nearly every Blazer game from 99 to present and that includes the mid oughts. I wouldn’t take Z-Bo back for a ham sandwich. I don’t care how good he’s been this year…it’s a mirage.

by Pooh Richardson on Dec 28, 2009 10:14 PM PST reply actions

he's a good player

but he’s given too large of a piece of the pie in the offense.

in 03 when he helped us take the mavs to seven, he was just being the garbage man around the hoop, gulping every board in sight. the problem was, we gave him the keys to the offense along with a max deal and expected him to be something that he isn’t.

i’m hoping we didn’t do the same with aldridge. ie…, terrific role player, but not a legit #2.

by CleBlazer on Dec 28, 2009 10:18 PM PST up reply actions

I always thought that if Randolph accepted his limitations he could be a tremendous player

I.e bang offensive boards, score garbage points, defensive rebound, play off the ball and not shoot over 10 feet. Yes he would still have defensive issues but he could have been a great role player. It’s when he started needing to be the focal point of the offense is when he started dragging the rest of the team down.

What an ugly 2nd half

Blazers just couldn’t get it going. The thing that spelled doom I saw was how tentative the guys were to take good shots – LMA, Martell, and Blake all passed up on open looks. Pendy was active, so that was a bright spot, but al and all it was an off night for just about everyone in red and black

Always supporting Greg Oden.

i was just over at o-live and i swear some of the least knowledgeable trolls just hang out waiting for a blazers loss so they can cry about nate/blake/any other player they don’t like. this place is breath of fresh, basketball oriented, intelligent air.
