This sucks.
Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.
With Joel's injury a few days ago, my expectations reached an all-time low for the season. For the past few days I have no longer been getting my hopes up for games. It's a lot different watching a game when you're not throwing things. With the teams we've been playing, I haven't really expected to win. In fact, I've expected to lose most of these games lately, so I guess it's a nice little surprise at the end when we actually win. But this is starting to get frustrating. I mean, with beating all these good teams at home AND on the road, my expectations are sure to go back up. If we keep winning, pretty soon I will no longer enjoy watching our team play again. Can someone please convince me that this is just a flash in the pan? Surely we can't keep winning these games in such convincing fashion, can we? Please say no. I don't think I could bare it otherwise.

just watching them and rooting for them whether they win or lose. my favorite year was the year when we won only 21. root for the team and the guys. all you fans who only root for them when we “might” be good and seem to know more about basketball then anyone drive me nuts. yet i can’t stay away from reading BE.

thirded
I remember watching all those games, and looking forward to them all the same. Back then it was about the little things, like putting together a good quarter, or having a great night from certain players. MB talked about this a few games ago, I think after Oden went down or something…

To be fair
this fanpost doesn’t make the author one of “those guys”.
I too have some nostalgia for that 21-win season. Weird, isn’t it? I’d sure rather be here because we’re a lot closer to where we’re going than we were. But life was simpler when all you had was the struggle. In a way it’s like we all got our big Blazer contracts and now the money has made us flush with expectations we didn’t have when we were scraping every last dime.

Thx.
Wasn’t sure if this comment needed responding. We all should be a little careful when tossing around the “all you fans” comments. I too was rooting during the 21-win season, and before. I’m posting with a hint of sarcasm here. Also trying to comment on the irony that the lights out basketball we’ve been playing lately might actually cause me to like watching the games less. I say that a little tongue-in-cheek, but there’s some truth there too.

I get it!..
…and agree with the notion that this resurgence could take away from enjoyment in some way.
Early in the season, with everybody (except Batum) healthy, and expectations so high there was not only more tension and pressure involved with watching the games but also a ton of micro-analysis here on BE. As much as the injuries have sucked for the season long chance for success they have also renewed the joy of just watching the guys play. Combine that with overwhelming amount of heart the Blazers have shown in the face of adversity and, for me, it’s provided the most enjoyable viewing of the season.
Thanks for the post bfan… You’re not “one of those guys” and I understand your point.
GO BLAZERS!!!
I totally agree with you
Being there for the team when they are down feels more real than when they are up.
But ive gotta think you are borderline crazy for liking the season where we won 21 more than last season.
But who cares!
Its a great day to be a Blazer!
Keep the faith.
It was a fun game to watch
I think it was the best game since game two of the playoffs last year
It's Brandon Roy's world and we're only renting space We don’t like him—we’re only on his side so he doesn’t dunk on us in front of our co-workers, wives, girlfriends, mistresses and children.

Patty is going to be available soon.
Then Rudy. Then Batum. No title this year, but they are likely to get better as the year rolls along. The depth is amazing.

so much sweeter
doesn’t it make these W’s so much sweeter though?! I looked around the rose garden tonight and felt a playoff urgency…on the court, in my section and on the streets. shout out to everyone who was a part of it

I honestly don't care if they win or lose at this point. The only thing I care about is that they continue to play this way.
Seriously, the Blazers are playing beautiful basketball right now. Hustling, moving, ganging up, running, closing out on shooters, rotating, boxing out, passing, cutting. They almost look like a college team. It is just awesome to watch. They are leaving it all out on the floor, playing every possession as if the game is on the line, because, honestly, it is. When you are this short-handed, every possession is too important to make mental errors. My hats off to these guys. They are flat out balling.

second that.
weird we seem to be a better team with so many injuries, neh?

Maybe we're better with so many injuries...
because the head coach has fewer choices to make? Roles are clearer, so is the amount of playing time. Coaching right now has got to be easier than it was at the beginning of the season. It will be interesting to see if we actually get better as the injured players come back, or if the team slips back into how it was playing early on when more bodies were available.
