Joel Przybilla: Officially Done for the Year

The Blazers have confirmed what we expected after his injury Tuesday night against the Mavericks: Joel Przybilla will not play again during the 2009-2010 season.

From the Blazers via text....

Joel Przybilla underwent successful surgery today to repair a ruptured right patella tendon.  He is out for the season. He is expected to be ready for training camp.

Przybilla's season ends with averages of 4.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 22.7 minutes played in 30 games.  Przybilla started 9 games this year after fellow center Greg Oden also went down with a knee injury.

Last season, Przybilla accomplished a personal goal by playing in all 82 games.

This is good news I think

After speculation that he might be done for a while, making it back in time for training camp is awesome. It is Joel after all. Of course, timetables are never for certain, but this is good news to me.

There is no doubt in my mind that he will opt in

And that we should resign him after next year.offer him an extension. He loves it here and once Oden develops into the player he showed us he could be this year Joel is going to be a key backup.

Joel, you're freaking amazing. We will miss you. Get better so you can keep kicking butt next season!

You can measure skill and talent with your eyes, but productivity is shown through statistics.

Get well soon Joel.

It always seems like his stats should be higher. It feels like he always gets more than 8 rebounds but I guess you can’t have hustle stats.

We'll miss you this season, but look forward to your return

Hang in there with the rehab. It’ll be difficult, but every day will be a little better. And, of course, you’re Joel Przybilla—as tuff as they come.

I was born in '52, and I believe in #52. Hang in there, GO.
You too, Przy: everyone knows you're the heart & soul of the Blazers.

i'm a rockets fan

but i just wanted to wish yall the best of luck the rest of this season. losing big men really sucks, i can tell you firsthand about that, and hopefully oden and przybilla can get healthy quickly.

Greg and Joel

Here’s to you rehabbing together and becoming lifelong buddies! Push each other and come back healthy.

Joel is our favorite player in my family

Come back strong and punch Chandler and Shaq in the mouth next year if they run their mouth.

52 + 88 = 140% better team.

Get well Joel. Hope that “ready for training camp” quote holds water.

I love Joel and I'm not afraid to say it

Sadly this probably cost him some scratch on top of everything else :/

Get better, big guy!

I’ll be proudly wearing my #10 replica jersey this year and expecting to see you going all red-ass in 2010-2011! Take care of that knee and get healthy.
