Gameday Open Thread: Blazers vs. Spurs--Pre-Game Edition

Another night, another tough opponent on the road.  The Spurs haven't had the level of success this year that they'd hoped but they're still a hard nut for the Blazers to crack.  How will the game go and what does Portland need to do in order to come out ahead?  Strategize right here until the game starts.

Update: Brandon Roy is out for tonight's game and listed as day-to-day with a left shoulder strain.

Roy "doubtful" - @blazerfreeman

Still scheduled to get an MRI tomorrow (because our training staff can’t get access to one all of Texas????)

by CleBlazer on Dec 23, 2009 4:33 PM PST reply actions

Roy is doubtful?

whats the update with his shoulder? i never saw anything except an MRI was supposed to be today

by Jolt21 on Dec 23, 2009 4:42 PM PST reply actions

What does Portland need to do?

Everyone needs to block out and board. Shooters need to fill it up. B-Roy needs to play…..:-)

What does Portland need to do?

Get Mr. Miyagi to do that hand rubbing thing to all the injured players.

Yes! Yes! In the face!

Pray that we shoot 50% to win. There’s your key to the game.

If the Blazers make their shots, they have a good chance to win. (but duh, thats pretty much true of basketball all the time.)

Could we send Tonya Harding to texas to “work” on the Spurs as they come out of their locker room?

by BornIn77 on Dec 23, 2009 4:55 PM PST reply actions

I hope we play hard and do well

If Roy is hurting and can play, he should play, but if he is injured, he should sit. Ya dig?

I can't watch live

Have fun all, cheer for us to play hard, don’t be too harsh when it is clear the injuries have made us too thin, and keep perspective.

SG- Rudy

We have the wave man,
We have the sky boxes,
We have the crazy row of people in the back spendin like 50$ on beer each game,

this is depressing.

also, i’d start Roy at PG and Rudy at the 2. Mils hasn’t earned a starting spot yet.

We will win, because of the Patrick Ewing rule.

But does the Patrick Ewing rule apply if half the team is already injured? Does the effect get larger as more people get injured? This might be the reason for our increasingly good wins of late…

When Mills comes back, when he is healthy, how affective do you think that he will be??

I have heard that like no one can stay in front of him and he has a great cross over

the question will be what he does with the ball once he gets to the rim

Roy being out means the Spurs won’t take this game seriously. They did the same thing against Indiana, and damn near lost. Portland is a better team than IND, therefore, Blazers win.

I hope Roy is OK, though… you guys really shouldn’t have to suffer any more.

The Spurs - now playing like sh*t again!

are we going to see dante soon? we better

or is nate keeping him on the bench so he doesnt get injured?

I think we only have one question to worry about.

When Jerryd scores 50 points tonight who do we start next game, Roy or Bayless? Very tough questions ahead indeed.
