Would love to see him go off tonight.
Can Marion slow him down? Or, will they play him with someone else?
He's not that good now
he’s above average, but he can’t stay in front of quick pgs so I’m sure we’ll see him on Roy a lot, but Roy should still get by him.

The Blazers better not sleep on JJ Barea. The guy is a streaky shooter and he can penetrate successfully.
Since he’s 5’11 ’Dre has to be looking to post him up every time he has the ball near the rim.
GO BLAZERS !
I remember the time he had some big 4th qtr rebs and they beat us
let’s not have to witness that again

Most minutes in the NBA for Roy
That stat is flawed. We’ve also played more games than any team in the NBA.
Mike Rice always uses total stats
it drives me nuts. It’s inaccurate but it also doesn’t tell you anything. How many minutes should I expect from Roy?

I'm not actually asking
so don’t answer. I was just using that as an example. When he says how many total rebounds someone has you end up with no idea what he’ll do in tonight’s game.

why?
why give up a potential valuable piece just to try and finish 8th in the West. No way. we aren’t going to get equal value on any trade right now, given our position of weakness in negotiations.
Now, if we are talking a trade that makes sense for us long term, then yeah I’m on board.
How did you guys win that?

I suppose Pendergraph will get his shot to play now.

Unless they go small, then it’s LMA/Martell/Roy/Blake/Miller until Rudy returns.

crazy to see LMA try to set a pick that Prez would normally do
He moved out of the way before contact
LMA has to do more of that
outmuscling Dirk for a rebound. He needs to be super tough if the blazers have any chance now.

Aldridge is absolutely going to have to grow a set
It was totally ok for LMA to be a eunuch until today.
Now he has to grow a big, hairy set. It is not ok for him to be the same player he’s been for so long. Not now.
Buck Williams for the hall of fame
Completely agree
we know he can do it but hasn’t consistently. Now he needs to do it more than 1 out of 3 games.

I'm not aware of such a season going back to the 80's.
The worst injuries to a team that I remember are the David Robinson and Michael Jordan season-enders.
Maybe if a teams plane went down, and that is the truth.
OMG I just jizzed in my France
It's hard to imagine it's the same injury as Greg
I doubt he’d leave the court without a stretcher.
It’s possibly a dislocation, but we don’t know if they did anything to it during the break.
Well here is the problem, it could be worse
If there is ligament damage.
OMG I just jizzed in my France
Of course. But we won't know that until at least the 3rd quarter, depending on the facilities
I have to imagine Cuban’s arena is well equipped, and they’d make everything available for Joel.
i say
we tank this, get john wall. and challenge for a ’ship next year

I don't support tanking
for one, I’m one of those people who thinks it disgraces the game. Plus, you’re not guaranteed of getting the pick, you could be like Miami missing Rose. And I really hate to be that guy and say it and I love Oden, but it’s not like that 1st pick is leading us to the playoffs right now.

well, by tanking i mean
playing the young guys plenty of minutes to figure out what they have talent-wise. not suggesting we don’t play hard or try to win games. But in my mind, talent evaluation is a legitimate strategy given the prospects of success at this point.

the downside of this lost season
- we are going to learn very little that we needed to learn about some of our players (but there is hope we can learn enough about Bayless and the rookies)
- we aren’t going to learn that we need to jettison our offense and put in a better one
- All underachieving will be chalked up to the injuries, and we will be right back next November where we were this past one, having learned or changed very little, if anything.

It’s the most money he will ever make in a year, so why leave that on the table

Last year...
PDX snuck six guys on the floor for one play against BOS. I’m not sure they even have that many now.
I think we should be allowed to have 6 guys on court for the rest of the season.
Come on NBA, it’ll just wear them out faster, allow us to do it.

And that’s a relative concept. “Gone for year, no long term injury” is good news at this point. Poor Joel.

every damn night.
I still think Jeffries is a good target.
Trade Outlaw for him and we’re not mortgaging our future.
Jefferies is a bad basketball player though
How much longer is his contract? We also don’t need another
perimeter player.
#52
Once Batum is back
Jeffries doesn’t see the court, and shouldn.t
If anything, we need interior defense, and not a overrated perimeter
defender with no offense.
I’m just saying, there isn’t much we can do that will help now. We shouldn’t
do anything rash. Moving Trout for he;p isn’t rash, but Jeffries is a SF/PF.
#52
We wouldn't have won a championship this year no matter what we did.
Lets play our guys that we have. Get them the experience and push they need to get better, and position ourselves to clean up on this league next year. Hopefully all these injuries cant happen twice.
news flash, Outlaw is in our future....

We just have no defense inside, at all now. None. Insane.

Kidd is no big rip, other than his Salary — which must be capitalized.
Dirk? Ummm, he’s a problem.

Dear Blazers,
Please just spend the rest of the season working on your games to prepare for a big season next year. We’ll still be rooting for ya.
GO & Joel out.. thats why I wanted to sign Collins.. even if he sucks offensively and defensively its still another 7 footer in the middle.
Yeah because you knew that we would lose both centers and pendergraph

They could drop Tolliver (pretty sure they can), then sign a player not far from the level of Collins
He’s really not bringing much from what I’ve heard.
Me as well
But I didn’t imagine BOTH would be out, and there is no big we can get who can replace Joel AND Oden.
And we shouldn’t try to just get a big, if we trade anyone worth more.

It's a lost season and then some right now.
I just want us to keep working hard, LMA and Roy to play smart and stay healthy, and if
we can learn that Bayless IS our starting PG of the future, then we can take
something positive away from the season.
And not to get too far ahead of myself, but a lottery pick never hurt nobody as well.

I agree on all counts
I want a ton of minutes for Bayless and a fast-breaking team. If we don’t get out and run at every single opportunity now, we will not win games, and I want to see what this team looks like bustin’ up and down the court — even at half strength.
