Would love to see him go off tonight.

Can Marion slow him down? Or, will they play him with someone else?

by lethaldose on Dec 22, 2009 5:37 PM PST up reply actions

He's not that good now

he’s above average, but he can’t stay in front of quick pgs so I’m sure we’ll see him on Roy a lot, but Roy should still get by him.

The Blazers better not sleep on JJ Barea. The guy is a streaky shooter and he can penetrate successfully.

Since he’s 5’11 ’Dre has to be looking to post him up every time he has the ball near the rim.

Most minutes in the NBA for Roy

That stat is flawed. We’ve also played more games than any team in the NBA.

Mike Rice always uses total stats

it drives me nuts. It’s inaccurate but it also doesn’t tell you anything. How many minutes should I expect from Roy?

I'm not actually asking

so don’t answer. I was just using that as an example. When he says how many total rebounds someone has you end up with no idea what he’ll do in tonight’s game.

why?

why give up a potential valuable piece just to try and finish 8th in the West. No way. we aren’t going to get equal value on any trade right now, given our position of weakness in negotiations.

Now, if we are talking a trade that makes sense for us long term, then yeah I’m on board.

the downside of this lost season

- we are going to learn very little that we needed to learn about some of our players (but there is hope we can learn enough about Bayless and the rookies)
- we aren’t going to learn that we need to jettison our offense and put in a better one
- All underachieving will be chalked up to the injuries, and we will be right back next November where we were this past one, having learned or changed very little, if anything.

Once Batum is back

Jeffries doesn’t see the court, and shouldn.t

If anything, we need interior defense, and not a overrated perimeter
defender with no offense.

do anything rash. Moving Trout for he;p isn’t rash, but Jeffries is a SF/PF.

It's a lost season and then some right now.

I just want us to keep working hard, LMA and Roy to play smart and stay healthy, and if
we can learn that Bayless IS our starting PG of the future, then we can take
something positive away from the season.

And not to get too far ahead of myself, but a lottery pick never hurt nobody as well.

I agree on all counts

I want a ton of minutes for Bayless and a fast-breaking team. If we don’t get out and run at every single opportunity now, we will not win games, and I want to see what this team looks like bustin’ up and down the court — even at half strength.

we saw the future of what we SHOULD do the rest of this year

RUN!!!! Only shot we have to rack up some wins. Play LMA a lot at center, go small, and have Miller and Bayless push the tempo with Martell and Blake as spot up shooters (and Rudy when he’s back). Steady doses of Roy and LMA after the initial rush up the court.
