NBA Offense
This is from a Celtic's blog, it is a great break down of a couple of offensive plays the C's run. I thought it was pretty interesting and others would like to see it, I got the link from Truehoop. Somehow when I watch the Blazers I don't see this same movement, I do see what Paul P. was doing in the second clip alot, (ie. standing at the 3 point line with his hands on his hips), but not the off the ball movement.

you know after I posted that, I watched it again
and it struck me, Rondo has no 3 point shot, Paul P. is much like B Roy in that his game thrives on him having the ball, (although he seems much more at ease shooting set shots than Roy does), and the C’s have 2 bigs who resemble LMA and Joel in their offensive games. So why is the Celtic’s offense so much better than the Blazers? Could it be Ray Allen? I don’t think so, as he is having a down year. Could it be that Rondo is just that good? Well he is very good, but he doesn’t control their offense like CP3 does for NO. In fact looking back at all the C’s games I have watched since they traded for KG and Allen, the C’s offense seems very much a product of their system more so than the parts.
The Blazers have the pure talent that the C’s have, (maybe not right now with all the injuries, but with everyone healthy they do) but even when they had all the talent available the offense still didn’t move well. And the reason for that we keep coming back to is coaching. Hopefully that can be changed with either a new assistant or two, because I like Nate as the head coach. But if he can’t get this team to play together on offense, and defense then someone else will have to be brought in.

Are you saying that
as the Blazer’s age the experience they gain will cause them to run better offensive sets?

How about
as the Blazer’s age, the experience they gain will cause them to run offensive sets better.
Maybe even a decent pick and roll occasionally
Portland could coast along with their superior talent and stay right with us. Now that Portland woke up, the hammer cometh down.

Reply to usmcr3049: Why do you like Nate as the head coach?! Do you like his "set"
substitution patterns? His pulling out the player just as they are finding a rhythm? Pulling LA when he has 2 fouls and sitting him for an entire quarter so when he returns he is cold? He has also done this to Miller. Do you like his indecisiveness with the starting line up? His bowing to a 25 yr old star player in keeping Blake in the starting lineup EVEN THOUGH HE SAID HE THE PLAYERS WOULD EARN THEIR STARTING ROLES? His continued insistence in playing Blake extensive minutes even when Blake is not playing well?
I really am curious to know why you like Nate as a head coach. I agree the offense and defense need coaching. This may be due to the assistants not being able to teach but there is much more to this story.
you know
I started to write out a response that listed all the things I like about coach Nate, and there are some intangables that I do like about Nate being the coach of this team. The problem was that I could not thing of anything that related to how this team has performed over his time here in portland that I liked. And while having intangables that are good, they don’t do much good without the tangeables to go with them. Nate needs to pick it up by the end of the year, this offense needs to be better, the defense needs to be much better, he is starting to let players play instead of using rigid rotations, which shows he might be able to adapt. But he needs alot of work to convince me that he is the coach of the future for the Blazers.
