Junk Drawer 12/20/09 - Rudolph, Santa and Reindeer Discrimination

The other day I recorded Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and The Flight Before Christmas, which was coming on after Rudolph, because it had Norm Macdonald as one of the voices. Yesterday, I watched all of The Flight Before Christmas and most of Rudolph, and both were disturbing.

The Flight Before Christmas is about a young reindeer named Niko who lives with his mother and a squirrel who also acts as Nico's surrogate father. Niko does not know who his real father is, just that his mother took a ride with one of Santa’s reindeer who had his own sleigh on Christmas day, and then months later she had Niko. She did not know Niko's father's name, just that he worked for Santa.

Nico runs away to find his father and when he finally gets to the North Pole, he finds Santa's reindeer then asks them all at a bar if any of them hooked up on Christmas day with a female reindeer, and they all laugh and say something like, "Who hasn’t?" Then they have Niko prove he can fly by jumping off a cliff, he can’t fly so they save him from his fall and tell Nico that none of them are his father.

Other stuff happens, and he ends up flying, and then I believe it is Blitzen who admits to Niko that he is the father, but he was too scared to admit it. I’m not sure what the lesson was there and in the end Niko goes home to his mom and squirrel surrogate dad. The comments on IMDB kind of mirror my dismay.

Rudolph, the Red-Nosted Reindeer is just as bad. One of my favorite parts is when they find out about Rudolph’s nose and Santa says to Rudolph's father, "Donner, you should be ashamed of yourself." I found a webpage that explains it better than I can, here are the money quotes:

‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ is a cleverly constructed, thinly veiled story of society’s intolerance towards minority groups and the isolation and depression that these groups experience along with the forgiveness that must muster in order to persevere.

He goes on to talk about forgiveness:

Similarly, just fifty years ago blacks had to endure separate-but-equal water fountains and had to enter through the rear entry of many hotels and restaurants. Years later when black athletes started to more heavily populate the NFL and NBA leagues they suddenly had access to a world that once and still to some degree reject them.

Basically the story of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is that if you are different, you have no use to society, until you can prove your worth. Right after watching Rudolph, I watched a show on the Ironman Triathlon and it touched me to see all the folks with disabilities proving that they belong.  Well, everyone but this one guy who was missing a hand an a leg, he couldn't finish the marathon, I'm not sure where he belongs.

A) The aggressiveness with which those two are going at each other is a bit disturbing. Is there some kind of endgame coming up with who will be the #1 carrier for the future (Sprint looks pretty dead, and T-Mobile has nice service but is just an also-ran)
B) The ad agency wants to insinuate that reindeers navigate with 3G maps? How do people who have no 3G network get their gifts, asked little Timmy.

Has there been anything official from the team that LMA is playing hurt?

If he’s banged up, they should say so. Otherwise we assume he is not playing hard, or doesn’t care. Perhaps I missed something. His performance the last 5-6 games has dropped like a rock.

Keep starting Miller.

Roy and LaMarcus are not listed on the injury report
Nicolas Batum (right shoulder), Rudy Fernandez (sciatic pain), Patrick Mills (right foot), Greg Oden (left knee) and Travis Outlaw (left foot) are out.

LaMarcus just has this dry section

LAST GAME: Recorded three points (1-6 FG), a rebound, an assist and three steals in 31 minutes … NOTEWORTHY: Second on team in points (16.0) and third in rebounds (7.6) … Team leader with eight double-doubles … Led team in scoring six times and rebounding nine times (inc. ties).

A lot of guys don't like talking about being hurt or playing sick

I can understand the stoic stuff — why point out weaknesses? LMA has been fighting the “soft” label for years, so I can see him wanting to play through pain without making a big deal of it.

He stunk it up last night and wasn’t great against Phoenix, but I’m not sure where you’re getting bad performances from the last 5-6 games.

Panathinaikos coach Zeljko Obradovic is lucky that he isn't in a league with David Stern as commissioner

http://www.talkbasket.net/news/obradovic-it-was-5-against-8-2855.html

“It is very difficult to say anything about the game, simply because there was no game. We were playing against 8 players from the first second. Refs were clearly against Panathinaikos. Absolutely different criteria for each side. I am saying this because we watched the 8 first minutes of the game in the locker rooms, reviewing the game play by play. I told that to the refs too.”

And there comes more. His fine would probably make Cuban weep.

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer is canonical for the American dogmatic.

It preaches that if you try hard enough, you can achieve greatness. All you have to do is believe in yourself. Which reminds me of that G. K. Chesterton wrote concerning self-confidence:

Once I remember walking with a prosperous publisher, who made a remark which I had often heard before; it is, indeed, almost a motto of the modern world. Yet I had heard it once too often, and I saw suddenly that there was nothing in it. The publisher said of somebody, “That man will get on; he believes in himself.”

And I remember that as I lifted my head to listen, my eye caught an omnibus on which was written “Hanwell.” I said to him, “Shall I tell you where the men are who believe most in themselves? For I can tell you. I know of men who believe in themselves more colossally than Napoleon or Caesar. I know where flames the fixed star of certainty and success. I can guide you to the thrones of the Super-men. The men who really believe in themselves are all in lunatic asylums.”

He said mildly that there were a good many men after all who believed in themselves and who were not in lunatic asylums.

“Yes, there are,” I retorted, “and you of all men ought to know them. That drunken poet from whom you would not take a dreary tragedy, he believed in himself. That elderly minister with an epic from whom you were hiding in a back room, he believed in himself. If you consulted your business experience instead of your ugly individualistic philosophy, you would know that believing in himself is one of the commonest signs of a rotter. Actors who can’t act believe in themselves; and debtors who won’t pay. It would be much truer to say that a man will certainly fail, because he believes in himself. Complete self-confidence is not merely a sin; complete self-confidence is a weakness. Believing utterly in one’s self is a hysterical and superstitious belief like believing in Joanna Southcote: the man who has it has `Hanwell’ written on his face as plain as it is written on that omnibus.”

And to all this my friend the publisher made this very deep and effective reply, “Well, if a man is not to believe in himself, in what is he to believe?”

After a long pause I replied, “I will go home and write a book in answer to that question.”

I don’t mind as much as I should, when someone doesn’t recycle because it is a pain in the butt, but I just went into the break room and there are two trash cans and three for cans and bottles and someone threw a bunch of cans in the trash. LAME! And at my desk, I got like 20 pages of a circuit design that some guy printed out to just show me one line. LAME!

My wife spends a good chunk of her time at work trying to teach kids with about 15% mental capacity

how to point to a sheet of pictures so they can communicate. I keep her telling she should let the poor kid enjoy a life of television and pampering and focus on the kids who will eventually have jobs, but these educators, they think what they’re doing is SOOOOOO important….

Regarding Christmas Movies and Minorities

I was watching the Family Stone last night (don’t ask me why). If you have ever watched this thing you will know that it is about this big white family at Christmas time and one of the sons brings his uptight new girlfriend and hilarity ensues (supposedly). Towards the end of pre-production, I think that the producers realized that there were no minorities in the movie. So they then tell casting that they need have a Gay guy, a Deaf guy, and a black guy…but there is only room in the budget for 2 more actors. So brilliantly (in their own minds) the create a son who is both Gay and Deaf with a black guy as the significant other. Problem solved!! At least this is how I visualized it happening ….I may be wrong

Ohhhh man. You will not be disappointed.

It is NOT a great movie, but it is the single most amazing experience I have ever had in the movies. I thought this is how people must have felt watching the 1933 King Kong, or Star Wars in 77. You have not seen 3D yet until you see this movie. It completely immerses you in a different world. Sometimes it seems like there are insects floating 6 inches in front of your face, and you can see dozens of planes of depth. It is simply incredible. The story will not blow you away, but the visuals will.

I still can't figure out what they saw in him

I still wonder if Nike had a say in that draft pick. He would have been there 10 spots later. I remember watching that draft and yelling at the TV when they announced the pick.

That moment was when I wondered if Portland could turn it around with the management in place.

by Timmay! on Dec 20, 2009 1:09 PM PST up reply actions

Nike = Adidas

I think that they wouldn’t have gotten to PA, he don’t need their cash, but may have gotten to Nash, who could use that pay off, and against all of his scouts cries slammed the table and said THIS IS MY PICK.

That last part is true, supposedly.

Yep, I've heard the same story.

I still watched the team, but stopped expecting a turnaround after that.

I’m surprised KP made it through the ranks of an organization that brought Nash in as GM. I think KP’s enjoyment of technology gave him an “in” with Allen.

His love of technology and stats, making the team fun with the trades and wheeling and dealing...

I don’t think PA is dumb, and not dumb with basketball either, but he went for a “safe” good ol’ boy pick with Nash and Patterson and when that didn’t work at all, he went with a New Wave pick before it was the norm.

Those years SUCKED.

Ok, I just muted all sounds in the house, and I hear the fan now. I just went and checked, and the fan is on and it is working. PHEW. I had turned up the cold, which was already at a too-cold level (I like my stuff cold) just to see if the motor would kick on. When it didn’t, I went uuuuuuuuuuuuuuurgh.

Yep. If we can somehow hang around the 8 spot during this rough patch

Then we’ll start getting healthy guys back and can make a push to be trendy upset pick in the playoffs.

We really need Brandon and LMA though. Brandon is slowly improving, LMA… well yeah.

#52

by Mortimer on Dec 20, 2009 1:48 PM PST up reply actions

I haven't decided if the achievement would be huge, or if it would say more about the teams below us

I mean, even without Oden, this team is a playoff contender. It’s just a matter of how quickly we get the missing guys back, and if LMA and Roy return to form.

It also depends on how the returning players feel. I’m not sure I should expect much from Outlaw and Batum this season, period.

by Timmay! on Dec 20, 2009 1:51 PM PST up reply actions

Without Oden, yeah...

…if we get similar production from Roy and LMA, and Rudy/Batum/Trout are doing decent; basically, if all else is there, we might be able to get past the lack of rebounding and defense and inside scoring Oden gives us, but after Oden is out, the margin of error gets real slim.

I think Batum's lateral quickness should be great, so D is good

But I expect little from his shooting, since I presume he’s not been able to work out the upper body as much.

We already have one SF who’s fairly quick, doing well on D, and can’t shoot. I don’t think Batum would do any worse than Martell right now, but I’m not sure a recovering-from-injury Batum will do any better, either.

I’m beginning to think expectations for Batum’s return are getting a bit high. It’s really possible he’ll struggle.

by Timmay! on Dec 20, 2009 1:58 PM PST up reply actions

I think Batum will be a perfect role playing point forward for us

His all-round game is what does it for me

Such a smart passer, a smart player on both ends— far beyond his age.

I think there is much of a chance he won’t be really good. Guys like him, athletic lanky marvels, usually don’t have the mental part of the game figured out. Batum is different because he really “gets” basketball.

by Mortimer on Dec 20, 2009 2:07 PM PST up reply actions

Yep, I figured.

People can disappoint for so many reasons. He does seem to really get the sport though.

Thinking back to guys with that body type and ability, who didn't work out...

The Seahawks are going to be gutted this offseason.

Botched snap on FG attempt, and he was smart enough to corral the ball and drop for the turnover on downs.

by Timmay! on Dec 20, 2009 1:43 PM PST reply actions

But in noticeably more minutes

Oden led in rebounding while not playing a lot of minutes. If you move to per-36, Oden takes a huge leap.

That’s not to underestimate the importance of LMA being able to stay on the court (though Oden’s heavier responsibility on D is related to it), but also just a reminder of how much more effective a similar-height Oden is at rebounding. Oden got inside, battled, and simply WANTED that ball after a miss.

Check your HD package for it.

It’s like golf coverage for NFL games.

Basically, on Sundays, the channel pops around to every NFL game when a team is in the red zone (within 20 yards of the end zone). They’ll rotate through every game and show you every major play, every touchdown, every turnover. And there are no commercials.

Even if your local team is blacked out or not being shown, you can see all the big moments on NFL RedZone.

And the announcer (just one guy who sits there from 10am to 4pm) is great.

i’ve been talking about the Jay-Z factor for quite a while. Plus, everything else makes too much sense: he’s close enough to NY for the media stuff. Plus, he could own that whole franchise; could do for the Nets what Jordan did for the Bulls. He’s got all the spotlight, all the extra stuff, plus a team with great talent so he’d win.

Roy owned the 4th.

Miller had a great 3rd. LA had a really good game. everyone played pretty well for the most part.

by DrivetheLane on Dec 20, 2009 7:42 PM PST up reply actions

wade whined A LOT. It was a back and forth game, neither team had a lead bigger than 10, we got down again late in the game

but our guys kept their heads and kept plugging away. Roy was 5 for 5 from 3 pt range. LaMarcus had a better game than against Orlando, and Joel had a few sweet blocks.

This has been a slow improvement over weeks now.

by Timmay! on Dec 20, 2009 7:49 PM PST up reply actions

I'm glad he's a Blazer.

I still don’t know if we’ll see last year’s Roy consistently this year, but he’s definitely rounding into form. He and LMA might need to address their summer routines to kick this slow starting habit.

#52

by jksnake99 on Dec 20, 2009 7:51 PM PST up reply actions

do you think Roy's weight loss

has anything to do with him not looking like the Roy of last year? I’ve wondered if this is the case just cause he doesn’t seem to go in the lane as much, like he doesn’t want the contact or something.

by DrivetheLane on Dec 20, 2009 7:52 PM PST up reply actions

I think he is back and has been since the Oden injury... which is good and bad...

08-09 numbers:

23ppg 5rpg 5apg 1spg 2TOpg 48%fg 38%3pt 82%ft

Since the Houston game:

27ppg 5rpg 5apg 1spt 3TOpg 48%fg 37%3pt 76%ft

Everything is pretty much identical, except his points are up, as are his turnovers. I think both can be directly attributed to him taking on more responsibility than he ever had to in 08-09. His fg attempts are up 4 per game over last year(since Oden went down). For me though, the biggest factor that won’t show up on any stats, is that he is once again taking over close games in the 4th. He willed the blazers to a win in tonights game, as well as the Houston game. I am happy to have him back…

yeah, Andre should have started immediately.

Andre forces the D to actually guard him. If the other team only has one good defensive guard, Andre can make the other team pay for it in a way that Blake just can’t.

#52

by jksnake99 on Dec 20, 2009 7:52 PM PST up reply actions

It's fascinating to see two playmakers in the back-court

When Roy got doubleteamed after a pick late in the game, the ball moved around to Miller, who could then work in comparatively open space since the defense was still recovering.

This also could work with Bayless. If used regularly, teams will have to make a choice when doubling Brandon on the perimeter: Go 1-1 and Brandon may beat you, doubleteam and Miller or Bayless can beat you before you recover.

by Timmay! on Dec 20, 2009 7:57 PM PST up reply actions

i like your point about Bayless.

he seems comfortable in the lane enough to the point that if he’d let Miller coach him up, he could maybe develop those same sorts of post moves that Miller uses. Which would be amazing. The more I watch Bayless the more I think he could be another Miller, but with a better shot.

by DrivetheLane on Dec 20, 2009 7:59 PM PST up reply actions

yes. me too.

he had a really nice pass to…i think LA….tonight. It didn’t get finished, but it was one of the best passes I’ve seen him make.

Me too.

It’s funny that a bunch of Blake’s three’s have come off Bayless passes.

by Nick Van Excellent on Dec 20, 2009 8:12 PM PST up reply actions

yeah i agree.

i still don’t think a trade will happen. but with what Bayless has shown, I think it makes Miller more important as a teacher. plus, what can we get for Blake? they aren’t trading for draft picks at this point.

they should have just opened it in May.

it would have lasted all summer that way. wouldn’t have to worry about bad weather hurting sales (like it apparently did back East). Better chance of repeat viewings from teenage boys. plus, it would still win all the technical Oscars. They must have really thought it would contend for best picture. it might get one of the noms now just because it’s a 10 picture category now, but it’s got no shot to win.

by DrivetheLane on Dec 20, 2009 9:13 PM PST up reply actions

Not every movie is The Dark Knight

For many movies, their shelf life is shorter in May, even blockbusters. They simply make big money fast then disappear. For every Up, Hangover or Star Trek there are three or four Transformer 2’s.

I think they just didn’t want to open against any other major movie, for fear it would be dwarfed (this movie required a big opening weekend). I’d guess they probably preferred to have opened a month ago (getting the full Thanksgiving to Christmas stretch) if it wasn’t for Twilight messing up the earnings curve.

When I was in high school, I was driving around with a friend of mine, on a really nice spring day. He said to me, “Hey, you ever notice that when the weather’s nice, people come out?”
To this day, I think it’s the dumbest thing anyone’s ever said to me.

I was blinded to that by sick alley-oops and facials

not to mention Greg crotchifyin’ suckas

by Tyler Durrden on Dec 20, 2009 9:34 PM PST up reply actions

you may have a point about not wanting to open against other big movies.

I think they did the late opening thing for Oscars. And no, not every movie is the Dark Knight, but that’s one of the best movies of recent memory. I just think this would have made more money in the summer. Fact is, it probably just isn’t a good enough movie, apart from the technical stuff, to do huge huge huge business. it’s not a repeat viewer.

by DrivetheLane on Dec 20, 2009 9:35 PM PST up reply actions

I think it may have been comparable to Watchmen in terms of Summer release

Heavily hyped, technically proficient and interesting to look at, people disagree on quality of storyline. Avatar (I can’t confirm this since I haven’t seen it) likely has the more mainstream accessible storyline.

Watchmen might have done better outside of Summer, with more hype to itself.

It works both ways though. Star Trek was moved from a Thanksgiving opening to a May opening, and it worked like gangbusters. A complete revival of a franchise.

The box office can be pretty fickle.

by Timmay! on Dec 20, 2009 9:39 PM PST up reply actions

i think you're right that Watchmen probably has a more accessible storyline.

the problem, though, is that I don’t think it’s a good idea to put story/plot/etc behind technical stuff in terms of how you make the movie. Watchmen had an advantage with a great storyline. that should have been much much better.

by DrivetheLane on Dec 20, 2009 9:45 PM PST up reply actions

It's probably a little disconcerting to the movie studio that Avatar didn't break the December record

That still belongs to I Am Legend two years ago. Avatar might have broken it if no storm rolled through.

I think they’re really interested in next week. Some people are calling this the Geek Titanic (somewhat ominous in some ways). But 12 years ago, Titanic actually made more money in its second weekend.

I’ll be curious if Avatar will even beat out Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel next weekend.

BTW the really impressive box office stat is The Blind Side. Wow. Sandra Bullock is simply becoming a bigger actress as she ages. That’s a rarity.

by Timmay! on Dec 20, 2009 9:49 PM PST up reply actions

Geek Titanic.....haha

the storm certainly doesn’t help. neither does the 3 hour run time. The second weekend will be pretty interesting. it’ll be Alvin I think. The Princess Frog? hmm….

by DrivetheLane on Dec 20, 2009 9:52 PM PST up reply actions

Princess and the Frog took a 50% drop

With a new kid’s release (Chipmunks), Princess/Frog is done, even though it may have a higher gross for a holiday weekend.

by Timmay! on Dec 20, 2009 9:56 PM PST up reply actions

that's true.

Alvin might have more of a chance than I think. I can’t remember how the last one did.

by DrivetheLane on Dec 20, 2009 9:59 PM PST up reply actions

It was a monster hit, to everyone's surprise.

$217 million in the US alone after a $45 opening weekend.

Sometimes a sequel to a surprise hit will bomb (hello Tomb Raider 2!). But it should do decent business since it’s opening at the right time with little competition.

This game was won because of Roy, pure and simple. To put it in perspective, both he and Dwyane Wade scored 28 on the evening. Wade took 31 shots to do so. Roy did it in 14.

Watching him go off is like watching some phenomenal event… like a star exploding or a volcano erupting. It’s almost unreal. Plus, he was loving it out there so much; it made me love watching games even more than before, even though they team struggled to adjust, because watching him get excited and having fun realizing that no one can actually stop him was priceless.

Maybe because he wasn't allowed to play when Oden was playing.

The team that was playing around Greg was a very stoic bunch except for Rudy.. and a little bit of Martell. Especially because he also didn’t have Travis for most of it, he also can give you some emotion.

But yeah. Bayless is way more emotional than even Rudy. He is so excited to be playing; it’s like when I get home and my dog is just so happy to see me that she rolls around and flops herself every which way. Bayless acts like a puppy, but I like the energy

Yes, because last year he was so down for parts of the season.

This is about the first time we’ve seen some ball movement that was comparable to the last 20 games of last year.

It would be very nice to see Oden and company playing together when the ball is moving like it was tonight. There will be a lot of dishes to Greg like Bayless gave LMA tonight. I think we’d probably have a completely different perception of how Roy & Oden play together if Oden could have been in a game like we saw tonight.
I actually felt like they were trying to move it against Orlando , but Orlando was just doing a good job of shutting it down.

Romance me with that Roy rainbow shot which took flight from way beyond the arc and sailed so high that before it came back down to earth sealing the victory, it kissed the rafters and said "You're mine baby."

by Blazer1342 on Dec 21, 2009 12:40 AM PST up reply actions

Greg has a nice touch and head for passing.

If we can just get him and keep him on the floor, he will be great. And Brandon should be able to learn how to play off of that and get a lot of easy perimeter and slashing looks. And Lamarcus should be able to learnto play off of that and use his athleticism and skill to kill on rebounds, fast breaks, and midrange J.

Most of the time offense sets can’t have guys out there thinking about what they want to do with the ball (I say most because I realize not every set will be perfect), or where there counterparts are located on the floor.

I was impressed with Orlando on several sets night before last. They would be swinging the ball and on the last pass of the swing when the pass began the guy receiving the pass wouldn’t even be in place when the pass started. But then boom, he would appear just at the right moment. They did this several times in the game. If you can run an offense like that you also have a better idea on defense what the other team is trying to do.
I’m starting to see why AK had hire Stan Van Gundy in his sig. (Or something like that)

I was just re-reading that post and thinking the same thing!

I want to believe that this group just needs time playing together to get to that level of offense, but Nate has not shown himself to be a great maximizer of talent on the offensive end. And other teams do incorporate new players much better than the Blazers have with Miller.

But yeah, that’s probably our biggest enemy right now, we just haven’t had the time together. And when we finally get some time logged, Greg goes down and we have to adjust again. At least some of the bad taste of this season is for the moment looking like we can still have some fun this year, and some good basketball.

The thing I like about Rudy is he’s always watching for when his guy takes his eyes off of him, and then he cuts. Plus he creates a lot of his own picks by rubbing his guy off.

I’m no coach but I’ve always thought we should throw in some sets where each and every player notices when his guy watches the ball and then cut immediately.
Some of those bad games we had recently the other team was cheating so bad it was ridiculous, but we just stood around. Man that looks bad when 3 guys are standing there. I realize some plays are drawn up that way to free up the middle. But when the other team is cheating the whole game like that you gotta try something else.

it's a bad, bad cycle

drop interest rates on homes to encourage people to buy and bolster the economy….people start buying homes they can’t afford….default on loans which costs banks which need to be bailed out and then the economy needs a boost so interest rates get lowered to make spending more attractive and so on

You won.

agreed

the fed has done a good job at fighting off inflation so far, but i don’t know how much longer they can keep it up, especially when they plan on keeping the rates low for awhile. i’m thinking of investing in gold despite the record prices as a hedge against inflation.

Poor Financial IQ

Wasteful Spending…Typical American irresponsibility that got us into this mess.

“My wife and I bought a home in July and got married in October, so we finally have the space to buy a new puppy. We decided Juno, a Welsh terrier ($1000), would be our one and only Christmas present to ourselves for the year. I lost my job the same week we got our house, and my wife commutes to work 1.5 hours away, so we’re both looking for jobs in Sacramento. But it’s been tough. If we weren’t getting a puppy, we probably wouldn’t be spending any money.” ~cnnmoney

I wonder if expirings might be worth it… but, even though Chalmers was benched, he had a very good rookie year and I just remembered it was punishment for being late to a practice.

So that, plus what happened during the rookie thingy the NBA does where he was smoking pot, likely means he has some maturity issues.

McDonald’s Chicken McNugget is 56% corn + 38 other things, but i think these are the new ones.
But perhaps the most alarming ingredient in a Chicken McNugget is tertiary butylhydroquinone, or TBHQ, an antioxidant derived from petroleum that is either sprayed directly on the nugget or the inside of the box it comes in to “help preserve freshness.” According to A Consumer’s Dictionary of Food Additives, TBHQ is a form of butane (i.e. lighter fluid) the FDA allows processors to use sparingly in our food: It can comprise no more than 0.02 percent of the oil in a nugget. Which is probably just as well, considering that ingesting a single gram of TBHQ can cause “nausea, vomiting, ringing in the ears, delirium, a sense of suffocation, and collapse.” Ingesting five grams of TBHQ can kill."

eeeewww it get worse
The 2004 documentary Super Size Me alleged that McNuggets were made from sick chickens unable to lay eggs, and that they included chemicals such as TBHQ (a preservative), Dimethylpolysiloxane (an anti-foaming agent), and other ingredents not used by a typical home cook. While, in 2005, these two ingredients are not listed by McDonalds USA as being in McNuggets, they are listed as ingredients of other McDonalds foods. McNuggets do contain genetically modified ingredients.

But he’s got a TON of steals.

39% from the field from a SF, 64% from the line. A lot of threes, though.

17 points, 5 boards, 4 assists, 2 steals

It would likely be more efficient if he wasn’t keyed in on by defenders so much.

yeah, I admit I expected him to be a lot better offensively.

I missed pretty badly there. Still time to pick it up, and I think he will, but its been much more of a struggle than I thought.

Landry is their MVP this year, by far.

I would be playing him more, but they do have a lot of good 4/5 options

in Scola, Landry, Hayes and Anderson. I would think Landry should be playing 30+ with Anderson playing less, but that’s just me.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
