They weren't missing by much
Think about it. If Bayless puts down that alley oop, we go up 2 and who knows.

That's where Miller would have helped
He’s the master at those.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
I think Miller was in the game for that one… Blak just happened to be the one that ended up with the ball… It’s not like there was a moment in which he could have passed to miller who then could have thrown the oop

he got both hands on it
if he couldn’t convert it, he should have come down with it.

It was 74-73 when Joel sat down
The magic went on a 13-3 run over the next four minutes, the blazers collected 2 rebounds during that time. Sitting Joel was the turning point of the game…

It really is like 3 years ago
Joel was always sat in the 4th quarter back then, and teams would score at will in the paint.
Joel was Sick tonight and visibly hacking up a lung most of the game… not saying 4 guards was the way to go, but Joel needed a break at some point in the 2nd half

Let's just cut Blake..I won't even ask for a trade anymore
The thoughts of cutting Blake so that our insane coach can’t play a ridiculous lineup of Blake-Miller-Bayless-Roy-LA against bunch of 6’8" guys and Dwight Howard is sickening, but if we’re not going to fire Nate, that’s the next best thing.
52 + 88 = 140% better team.
that lineup lasted exactly 2 possesions

I counted way more than 2 possessions in the last 6 minutes of the game...

No one, except #7, coudl hit jack tonight.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
No one could hit a shot
Web, La, Bayless didnt show up for tonight.
Bayless and Webby were both fine
Webby played good D, they just weren’t hitting shots, happens.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
webster has only played 5 games all year
On game day, I leave the turkey alone because it is some chemicals in that thing. Nate Mcmillian 11/26/09
huh?
that was his 28th regular season game of 09/10.
i think he means
only having played 5 games mentally, or where is shot was falling; where martell was focused and trying the entire game.
(call me mr. interpretor i guess)
:)
If Bayless can handle that alley oop
Who knows what happens?
Beat Miami.

DONT BE LIKE MILLER! You’re not him, you have different skills.

at Blake when he tries to do Miller….looks wierd and never effective

True.
If Cheeks can keep Miller from shooting threes, then Nate should be able to keep Miller from shooting threes.

Webster and Aldridge not having offense tonight killed us
With this short of rotation we have almost no margin for error on the offensive side
Webster was fine
LA, I don’t know what was going on there.
Webster was taking his shots, he just wasn’t making them.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
this is a regular occurence though
Webster’s shooting is abysmal.
And the Cowboys are winning too
Suck.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
That won't last
I should know…I’m an Eagles fan. Dallas in December FTL.
52 + 88 = 140% better team.
Miami is ours
Elizabeth had a partner and he had a rap from the cops, Him and Lenny Suckerpunch were just out Tooling around
Writing on the wall at halftime
Roy was basically keeping the Blazers afloat. When they showed the half-time stats with the Blazers only having 3 assists I knew that was a bad sign. Dwight Howard completely shut down the offensive game plan of the Blazers by roaming everywhere when Przybilla was in. Webster couldn’t buy a shot. LMA disappeared on offense and the boards. Bayless was neutralized by a shot blocker.
The Magic played horrible most of the game. Carter was absolutely atrocious. This game was winnable.
Webster is just not a good NBA rotation player. He’s much too inconsistent to be counted on similar to his alter ego on the Magic, Matt Barnes. LMA did just about what we can expect LMA to do in a grind it out physical game. Completely disappear on both sides of the court.
Roy looks like he is back on track. The Blazers just don’t have the talent to win these types of games.

yeah, Aldridge has to play at all-star level for us to beat good teams on the road.
and Bayless and Webster have to score.

Worst game by LaMarcus since about this time of the year 3 years ago (December 2006 - early January 2007)
When he was playing < 15 minutes behind veterans, not starting and playing more than 30.
I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt here.
I think he’s playing injured. Not that his style of play would much differ than tonight.
"I'm at the thingamajig talking the yakety-yak" - Kenny Smith
If he is injured (which he might be with his ankle), we can really kiss this season goodbye and focus on trading and playing youngsters
This season was done when Oden went down.
It’s about Bayless development and seeing what the rookies can offer.
"I'm at the thingamajig talking the yakety-yak" - Kenny Smith
Done as a title contending year yeah
But we can still go the playoffs and even win a series depending on the matchup.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
also depending on who is healthy when we get there… this season is about Learning for all the players not named Miller/Howard/Blake
by The Arkitect on Dec 19, 2009 6:47 PM PST up reply actions
If Miller is back next year, integrating him is still important.
If he’s being traded, it all becomes irrelevant of course.
integrating yes… i just meant he has plenty of experience playing through adversity and playing into the playoffs… the younger players do not

NBA Moblile Live is awesome.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
Keep fighting for a playoff spot
There is nothing to be gained with a poor lottery pick.
well, we could luck into a decent player again
in principle, though, there is nothing to be gained from another first round playoff exit/
so many problems
webster is sucking hard right now. blake is struggling. miller can’t shoot.
i’m willing to give LMA a pass this game. it was pretty embarassing but the blazers could’ve made more of an effort to involve him offensively.
the worst part of the game was the rotation in the fourth quarter. i can’t for the life of me understand why pryz sat out most of the fourth q. he was our defensive anchor, patrolling the paint and grabbing rebounds. LA can’t do that.
i know we were down and needed offense, but subbing PRYZ in for miller is probably a greater gain in defense than a loss in offense.
gross gross loss. miller and blake both make me want to weep
Howard was patrolling the lane and leaving Przybilla open
Part of the reason for the 7 team assists.
"I'm at the thingamajig talking the yakety-yak" - Kenny Smith
i understand that
but we were just getting killed defensively.. at least with pryz we could play better defense and slow the tempo of the game..
Well, once the Blazers started losing Nate went to offensive lineup.
It wasn’t like the Blazers defense with Przybilla was causing the Magic to miss shots. Honestly, the Magic missed a ton of open shots tonight and they just started to fall in the 4th quarter. The best chance for the Blazers to win was to outscore them in the 4th.
I don’t find much fault in Nate’s rotations. Howard and Dante isn’t going to cut it.
"I'm at the thingamajig talking the yakety-yak" - Kenny Smith
?
i understand the need for offense, but putting four “offensive-minded” players doesn’t make an offense…
that’s like putting steak ice cream and whiskey together. hey, they might be good on their own, but that doesn’t mean there’s synergy between the group..
At that point of the game, the Blazers had no good lineup to counter the Magic.
Nate went with a small lineup to get ball and player movement by spreading the court. That’s how the Blazers won last year in Orlando. LMA played center and forced Howard to guard him in the 4th quarter. Difference this year was LMA not making a difference on offense.

Websters shooting is sucking… but his defense and hustle are going well
by The Arkitect on Dec 19, 2009 6:52 PM PST up reply actions
4 guards?
The 3 guard lineup was unusual, but 4 guard lineup in the 4th quarter? when the team is cold? What about rebounding? where was Joel, or Dante, or Pedergraph? I guess when you can’t decide which guards to play, just play them all and hope their shots go in. What the …..?
Boy. Webster is taking any of the blame LMA isn't getting tonight
This loss was a team loss. Just look at the assist numbers to be sure.
You don't get assists when the spot up shooter bricks the shots. That is the whole story!
Webster 1 of 11. There is 5 assists if he makes them.
LMA 1 of 6. another couple
So, we more than double our assist numbers if those two can hit open shots. Not only that, if we can even shoot 35% from 3, we win the game.

Franchise record 7 assists - UG
Neither team deserved to win this game, it’s just that we deserved to win it less.
Ridiculous finish in Philly
Back and forth, Phllly ball tied with 7 left.

BRoy
At least BRoy played like his old self tonight. LMA is injured, and Webster, I don’t know. He is still a kid. He will get better.
Webster is playing exactly like Webster.
An inconsistent energy player.

Brandon made shots, nobody else did.
That’s about it. It wasn’t bad basketball but nobody could make anything.
Both teams couldn't hit jack all night
They hit slightly more shots, LMA sucked bad and we lost.
"Good evening Blazer fans, wherever you may be!"-Bill Schonely
we sucked them into playing our game
carter was off all night. broy was beasting. lasoftie was girlier than usual. broy got tired in the second half. no one else stepped up.
game.
The team didn't play well together but kept it close
Brandon had a big game and played well. LMA was completely invisible.
Martell shot horribly but played great D. Good D by Joel too.
The game was close. Blake missed an oop pass to Bayless for the lead with 5mins left or so, and Orlando just dominated from there with Joel on the bench. Portland couldn’t buy a bucket.
I would have been much more upset
if it were a Blazers win or a really, really close game,

Rockets deserve to pass the Blazers.
As bad as the injuries are for this team if they showed half the heart and hustle do the Rockets do every night they could still be a good 4, 5 or 6th seed.
You should care.
This is the last month we’ll be at the 8th seed or higher the rest of the year. Savor this.

We need:
1.) Oden back
2.) An offense
3.) To get rid of a PG
4.) A psychologist for Webster and Blake
5.) Someone to consistently help Roy in crunch time
unfortunately
The respective solutions are:
1. time
2. Bayless + time
3. time
4. time
5. Bayless + time
You can measure skill and talent with your eyes, but productivity is shown through statistics.

Brutally out-rebounded too.
I see Bayless was 3-13. Besides missing a bunch of shots, how did he look tonight?

by NoiseMekanik on Dec 19, 2009 7:07 PM PST up reply actions
Aggressive as always
A lot of the shooting was better than the boxscore says. Shots were rattling in and out. I’m not saying they didn’t shoot bad though.
4 guard lineup
How they gonna get rebounds with 4 guards shooting jumpers and no one crashing the boards. At least Martell crashes the boards even if he isn’t hitting shots.
He was energetic...
…but in addition to the 3-13, he was posted up a lot by Pietrus and even Anthony Johnson.
Joel, cunningham, pendergraph, howard
any could have played in 4th quarter. second chance points any one? easy putbacks?
Does anyone else think that KP should trade Bayless while his value is high?
It’s obvious now that teams have had a chance to scout two games worth of film that they know all his moves. His value will only go down from here. If we trade him now I bet we could get someone like DaJuan Blair as our back-up PF
He is a keeper when hitting from the outside

That was great defense by ATL (or poor game planning by VDN)
They didn’t manage to get a clean shot for a solid 20 seconds, even struggling to get the ball to the guys they wanted to have it.
ATL - BULLS TIED 4TH 18 SECONDS LEFT
Portland Trail Blazers - where injuries and people come together"
Just went over the stats
Miller had a good game tonight. he was believe it or not the second highest scoring player tonight. 16 points 33 minutes. He did have 4 turn overs though. I thought he played good tonight. Now the other players for the Blazers besides Roy’s game is just ugly. Web played 33 minutes and 2 points. Ugh. La 3 points playing 30 minutes.
Webster’s game is just so much up and down it is enough to drive a person crazy. One day he will get rebounds and do the little things it takes to win. The next he cant anything, he did have 7 rebounds though. Were just so short on people that if a few people on the team dont show up there is not a whole lot we can do to fix it.
I know a lot of people will pin this one on Nate however the players have to show up and play as well.
No
Travis no Rudy = games like this. It must really suck (for the team) to play well on the road against good teams only to run out of gas/firepower in the last minutes of games. Everyone needs to be just about perfect offensively to win games on the read.
Disagree.
The number one problem tonight was “NO GREG”.
