I think Miller was in the game for that one… Blak just happened to be the one that ended up with the ball… It’s not like there was a moment in which he could have passed to miller who then could have thrown the oop

It was 74-73 when Joel sat down

The magic went on a 13-3 run over the next four minutes, the blazers collected 2 rebounds during that time. Sitting Joel was the turning point of the game…

Let's just cut Blake..I won't even ask for a trade anymore

The thoughts of cutting Blake so that our insane coach can’t play a ridiculous lineup of Blake-Miller-Bayless-Roy-LA against bunch of 6’8" guys and Dwight Howard is sickening, but if we’re not going to fire Nate, that’s the next best thing.

Writing on the wall at halftime

Roy was basically keeping the Blazers afloat. When they showed the half-time stats with the Blazers only having 3 assists I knew that was a bad sign. Dwight Howard completely shut down the offensive game plan of the Blazers by roaming everywhere when Przybilla was in. Webster couldn’t buy a shot. LMA disappeared on offense and the boards. Bayless was neutralized by a shot blocker.

The Magic played horrible most of the game. Carter was absolutely atrocious. This game was winnable.

Webster is just not a good NBA rotation player. He’s much too inconsistent to be counted on similar to his alter ego on the Magic, Matt Barnes. LMA did just about what we can expect LMA to do in a grind it out physical game. Completely disappear on both sides of the court.

Roy looks like he is back on track. The Blazers just don’t have the talent to win these types of games.

by CleBlazer on Dec 19, 2009 6:49 PM PST up reply actions

so many problems

webster is sucking hard right now. blake is struggling. miller can’t shoot.

i’m willing to give LMA a pass this game. it was pretty embarassing but the blazers could’ve made more of an effort to involve him offensively.

the worst part of the game was the rotation in the fourth quarter. i can’t for the life of me understand why pryz sat out most of the fourth q. he was our defensive anchor, patrolling the paint and grabbing rebounds. LA can’t do that.

i know we were down and needed offense, but subbing PRYZ in for miller is probably a greater gain in defense than a loss in offense.

gross gross loss. miller and blake both make me want to weep

by wackybrak on Dec 19, 2009 6:48 PM PST reply actions

Howard was patrolling the lane and leaving Przybilla open

Part of the reason for the 7 team assists.

"I'm at the thingamajig talking the yakety-yak" - Kenny Smith

by blzrfan on Dec 19, 2009 6:49 PM PST up reply actions

i understand that

but we were just getting killed defensively.. at least with pryz we could play better defense and slow the tempo of the game..

by wackybrak on Dec 19, 2009 6:51 PM PST up reply actions

Well, once the Blazers started losing Nate went to offensive lineup.

It wasn’t like the Blazers defense with Przybilla was causing the Magic to miss shots. Honestly, the Magic missed a ton of open shots tonight and they just started to fall in the 4th quarter. The best chance for the Blazers to win was to outscore them in the 4th.

I don’t find much fault in Nate’s rotations. Howard and Dante isn’t going to cut it.

"I'm at the thingamajig talking the yakety-yak" - Kenny Smith

by blzrfan on Dec 19, 2009 6:53 PM PST up reply actions

?

i understand the need for offense, but putting four “offensive-minded” players doesn’t make an offense…

that’s like putting steak ice cream and whiskey together. hey, they might be good on their own, but that doesn’t mean there’s synergy between the group..

by wackybrak on Dec 19, 2009 6:55 PM PST up reply actions

At that point of the game, the Blazers had no good lineup to counter the Magic.

Nate went with a small lineup to get ball and player movement by spreading the court. That’s how the Blazers won last year in Orlando. LMA played center and forced Howard to guard him in the 4th quarter. Difference this year was LMA not making a difference on offense.

4 guards?

The 3 guard lineup was unusual, but 4 guard lineup in the 4th quarter? when the team is cold? What about rebounding? where was Joel, or Dante, or Pedergraph? I guess when you can’t decide which guards to play, just play them all and hope their shots go in. What the …..?

by davebball on Dec 19, 2009 6:49 PM PST reply actions

Boy. Webster is taking any of the blame LMA isn't getting tonight

This loss was a team loss. Just look at the assist numbers to be sure.

by Timmay! on Dec 19, 2009 6:49 PM PST reply actions

You don't get assists when the spot up shooter bricks the shots. That is the whole story!

Webster 1 of 11. There is 5 assists if he makes them.
LMA 1 of 6. another couple
So, we more than double our assist numbers if those two can hit open shots. Not only that, if we can even shoot 35% from 3, we win the game.

The team didn't play well together but kept it close

Brandon had a big game and played well. LMA was completely invisible.

Martell shot horribly but played great D. Good D by Joel too.

The game was close. Blake missed an oop pass to Bayless for the lead with 5mins left or so, and Orlando just dominated from there with Joel on the bench. Portland couldn’t buy a bucket.

Just went over the stats

Miller had a good game tonight. he was believe it or not the second highest scoring player tonight. 16 points 33 minutes. He did have 4 turn overs though. I thought he played good tonight. Now the other players for the Blazers besides Roy’s game is just ugly. Web played 33 minutes and 2 points. Ugh. La 3 points playing 30 minutes.

Webster’s game is just so much up and down it is enough to drive a person crazy. One day he will get rebounds and do the little things it takes to win. The next he cant anything, he did have 7 rebounds though. Were just so short on people that if a few people on the team dont show up there is not a whole lot we can do to fix it.

I know a lot of people will pin this one on Nate however the players have to show up and play as well.
