He's on hiatus
from what I understand. I’m hopefully that either he or maybe some rotating third guests will fill out the picture in the future. It’s hard to compensate so close to the holidays though. Watch in the new year.

Sorry Dave, Blazers shouldn't talk about contraction considering how close the team fairly recently was to relocation
Remember the last time you posted about that topic? I wouldn’t want to be the commissioner who takes a team away from fans moving it to another city much less shutting it down and redistributing its players in some distribution draft. Even though an argument can be made that some talent in the league is not great, and not all teams are created equal and have the same chance to ever come back up on top.
You especially can’t discuss this topic without becoming specific very soon. Owners and fans will want to know who it should be. Contract a team just because it’s not good at the moment and draws low attendance? The Nets? Could be top of the league again as early as a year or two with a top free agent addition, top draft pick, new owner, new arena. The Kings, who were great at the beginning of the decade and could make the playoffs again soon enough? The Grizzlies, because the owner might want to sell or move if he wasn’t bound by a long arena lease? Bobcats because the greatest player of all time isn’t that great as a front office executive? Blazers the next time they are not setting attendance records again? Or the Clippers as the butt of a lot of jokes around the league? They are profitable, and their fans certainly would be against that even though they wouldn’t even be without a team in their city.
It’s not a topic that is terribly high on the agenda of the owners, and they are the ones who would have to push in this direction. The fans won’t do it, and the commissioner won’t do it. Lets wait and see what a new collective bargaining agreement does to change the competitive landscape of the league before discussing contraction again.
Man
I had about 3 things I wanted to discuss but I got busy and it took me 5 hours to listen to it and I can’t remember any of it.
I know from the JD that one fellow thought you kids were nuts for saying that the point guard of the future might not be on the Blazers. I can see your point, but also think Bayless seems more suited for that role thank all of the junky point guards from the past.
Next one, can you do a breakdown of all the players, maybe not a grade, but maybe how they fit in the future?
Podcast
This is going to probably come across poorly (in writing), but I really enjoy the Podcast’s but I find Casey to dominate the conversation and ramble a lot at times (same when he interviews Quick).
I am more interested in what Quick or BE has to say rather than Casey rambling on for a minute plus…and then turning it over briefly to the other person without even asking a ?.
Love the podcasts and interviews (and appreciate that Casey is putting this together and offering his insight), but would hope that he can get to the point of what he wants to interject and give the other person some more air time.
Bayless in the rotation
I agree a breakdown of how players fit in the future.
Especially Bayless.
It seems he is used as SG (these past 2 games where Roy slides to SF and Blake is still PG or whatever he does)
It seems Nate will not put Bayless in as the PG, more he puts Bayless in a 3 guard line-up. While this can work against some teams, probably not the majority.
If Nate does not see Bayless as getting PG minutes, it seems Bayless is out when Trav, Nic & Rudy return the SG/SF minutes will be dominated by them and Webs. It seems the only place Bayless can get minutes in the future once this team is at full strength is at the PG. Unless something changes, it seems like Bayless is back to the bench or getting few minutes once Blazers return to full-strength as Nate still likes Blake more than Bayless and then there is the Miller dilema.
Another ? for the next podcast:
Chances of a PG trade?
If Bayless does show that he deserves time, the only place is PG when everyone is healthy. But who would get scrub minutes (miller- at $7 million per year, Blake- with an expiring contract).
With Patty coming back, it seems he can be PG #3, get 0-5 minutes a game (probably only in blowouts) and Blake or Miller traded for a Big (if possible).
Who would have more interest around the league?
Blake- expiring contract (seems with salary cap going down, teams are looking to get these type of contracts
Miller- good PG in the right system
Final next podcast ? in regard to Blake,
Where do you think the Blazer management is on re-signing Blake for the future?
It seems if he is not in their future plans, then PT should go to Bayless (as this year, due to injuries, is turning into a more developmental year)
If he is in there plans and they do not trade Miller, Bayless is on the outs.
Thanks!
