Tom Ziller on 'Jerryd Bayless and the liberation of combo guards'
Some interesting observations on traditional coaches (mis-)handling a new breed of in-between point and scoring guards.
"McMillan, I'd argue, doesn't believe in Bayless, but believes in what Bayless just did, and knows that right now, with the bench suffering from the losses of Oden (bumping Joel Przybilla to the starting unit), Travis Outlaw, Nicolas Batum and Rudy Fernandez, he as a coach and manager of playing time needs to keep believing in Bayless's work until twilight falls on the guard."

Miller - Roy - Webster - Aldridge - Przybilla. Is that so hard?
Ziller highlights what Bayless fans fear Nate will do...
Bayless will not be able to perform on last nights level in every game. He will miss shots, turn the ball over and have bad games. Roy shot 9 for 22 last night. Blake is shooting 37% for the season. Do you think Bayless will get away with that? I fear he will be on the bench again once Rudy and Batum returns…
My fear is that if Bayless misses shots, he won't have any reason to fist pump
Then he’ll put his head down and mope back on defense and stop attacking the basket.
I don’t think Nate minds Bayless’s style
Its his age not his style. Nate is ultra conservative and figured a vet would compliment the team better especially one that could run the show (thus giving Roy a break). Bayless’s style fits well in Nate’s offense so I’m sure he considered what Bayless could do with Roy. Remember Nate originally gave Jack the start until Jack played his way out of it. Bayless is like a more explosive Jack.
