Except when you put through Google translator a few times it comes out as:

That means there's a pretty good chance we'll have to watch the end of a 20 pt blowout

when they won’t switch to the start of the next game. They need to make it illegal to call a timeout in the last 2 minutes of those games.

Off to the races

"I could almost fall asleep when he's got the ball," Demopoulos said of Roy. "That's how comfortable I feel with him. He always comes through."

by lee3022 on Dec 17, 2009 6:54 PM PST reply actions

Anybody got any numers on Tolliver's contract?

he’s slotted between Howard and Cuningam in the realgm trade tracker, so that puts his salary somewhere between 457,588 and 825,497. Does that then reduce the Blazers 1,425,171 capspace?

AT also can’t be traded until March 17th (after the deadline)

I think Ben answered this on the announcement post

"I could almost fall asleep when he's got the ball," Demopoulos said of Roy. "That's how comfortable I feel with him. He always comes through."

by lee3022 on Dec 17, 2009 6:59 PM PST up reply actions

A rookie making the minimum ($457,588) plays for 69% of the season and his salary is pro-rated. The team pays him $315,736 and the league reimburses nothing to the team.
A veteran with 2 years of service making the minimum ($825,497) plays for 69% of the season and his salary is pro-rated. The team pays him $569,593 and the league reimburses nothing to the team.

"I could almost fall asleep when he's got the ball," Demopoulos said of Roy. "That's how comfortable I feel with him. He always comes through."

AT's not officially a rookie, or a veteran with 2 years service

so the truth could be “somewhere in the middle” of those numbers

KP to Tolliver, Richard, and Sims:

Now, our operation is small, but there’s a lot of potential for “aggressive” expansion. So, which one of you fine gentlemen would like to join our team? Oh, there’s only one spot open right now, so we’re gonna have… [throws ball between them] tryouts!

Miller - Roy - Webster - Aldridge - Przybilla. Is that so hard?

i don’t believe this affects their cap space and is treated separately. again, i am not 100 percent on this.

by Ben Golliver on Dec 17, 2009 7:34 PM PST up reply actions

3 things I want to see

Roy being aggressive all game long. We know he can score against them so I’d like to see him attack them like pgs we can’t stop attack us. LMA playing like he did in the 2nd half of the kings game. And Bayless getting trust and 4th quarter minutes.

Your confusing thesis has captured my attention. Tell me more.

by terryisntbald on Dec 17, 2009 7:04 PM PST reply actions

Yeah, I'm happy if whoever is out there is doing well.

And we play hard and as close to our abilities as we can.

by Mortimer on Dec 17, 2009 7:05 PM PST up reply actions

He was the best player in crunch time in the last game though

Nate said he will roll more with whatever lineup works on offense or defense. If Blake scores all over Steve Nash, he’ll be out there. If not, he might sit and Miller or Bayless plays. If Webby stops Richardson or Hill well, he plays.

Miller - Roy - Webster - Aldridge - Przybilla. Is that so hard?

by Norsktroll on Dec 17, 2009 7:07 PM PST up reply actions

Yep totally agreed that if Bayless is on, he should be playing in the crunch

I just don’t want him to get time simply because it’s expected, or for the experience. He can get plenty of experience playing the first three quarters.

by Timmay! on Dec 17, 2009 7:08 PM PST up reply actions

I want it because he played well last game

if Webster is stroking it for 3 quarters and Miller is destroying Nash I’m obviously ok with Bayless on the bench, but he seems to be figuring out how to play within the offense and off Roy. I want Nate to play whoever is playing best at the end, obviously. Except Roy and LMA nobody on the team has earned the right to automatically play in the 4th.

Your confusing thesis has captured my attention. Tell me more.

He’ll be guarded by Steve Nash or Goran Dragić, with Canning Frye patrolling the paint. He should feast.

or did Reggie just refer to Miller and Nash as “the two premier point guards in this league”?

All due respect to both (and ’Dre has the Blazers off to a very nice start tonight), but come on…

He still has time, but he's having trouble putting it together

He’s not as invisible as he used to be when missing shots.

Fantasy wise

He’s giving a lot more than last year!

Blake rarely fights through the pick

2nd or 3rd time right there that he has ended up guarding Frye as a result of switching on a PnR.

Hey look, they're evening out the foul calls before the half.

It would be easier to believe they didn’t do it, if it didn’t seem so obvious.

even with Webster miss and goofy pass

i like him in there for defense, rebounding and hustle
at least compared to Blake

No, I’m not talking about the Suns run. That I can handle.

Reggie Miller is the worst thing that has ever happened to TNT.

Now we get to hear Reggie opine on Oden.

I don't buy that travel

its of NO advantage, and when you let LeBron and the like waltz through the paint…it really makes no sense

It's really not hard to stop Channing Frye. You have to GUARD him.

Another typical Blazers '09-'10 half

- LMA and Roy with horrendous defense
- Roy underwhelming on offense
- LMA afraid of contact
- Blake leads the PGs in minutes for no apparent reason
- A center with 2 fouls plays limited minutes for no apparent reason

Blazers playing possum.

They are handicapping themselves then unleashing the full potential after All-Star break.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
