That means there's a pretty good chance we'll have to watch the end of a 20 pt blowout
when they won’t switch to the start of the next game. They need to make it illegal to call a timeout in the last 2 minutes of those games.

Off to the races
"I could almost fall asleep when he's got the ball," Demopoulos said of Roy. "That's how comfortable I feel with him. He always comes through."
Anybody got any numers on Tolliver's contract?
he’s slotted between Howard and Cuningam in the realgm trade tracker, so that puts his salary somewhere between 457,588 and 825,497. Does that then reduce the Blazers 1,425,171 capspace?
AT also can’t be traded until March 17th (after the deadline)
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
I think Ben answered this on the announcement post
"I could almost fall asleep when he's got the ball," Demopoulos said of Roy. "That's how comfortable I feel with him. He always comes through."
A rookie making the minimum ($457,588) plays for 69% of the season and his salary is pro-rated. The team pays him $315,736 and the league reimburses nothing to the team.
A veteran with 2 years of service making the minimum ($825,497) plays for 69% of the season and his salary is pro-rated. The team pays him $569,593 and the league reimburses nothing to the team.
"I could almost fall asleep when he's got the ball," Demopoulos said of Roy. "That's how comfortable I feel with him. He always comes through."
AT's not officially a rookie, or a veteran with 2 years service
so the truth could be “somewhere in the middle” of those numbers
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
this is from storyteller...
According to my calculations, $511,162 on a pro-rated minimum salary contract.

If he actually plays the season - or at least longer than January 10th?
Miller - Roy - Webster - Aldridge - Przybilla. Is that so hard?
Billy Ray Bates, part 2?
we can always hope
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
the way i understood it yesterday that’s what he gets regardless. is there info out there that says otherwise?
by Ben Golliver on Dec 17, 2009 7:33 PM PST up reply actions
I would assume it's an unguaranteed contract, and he gets paid day by day until January 10th when ALL contracts become fully guaranteed
Miller - Roy - Webster - Aldridge - Przybilla. Is that so hard?
that’s what i thought too and penn said something that was incredibly confusing and made it sound like that wasn’t the case. but i will double check it.

if that is the case and he gets cut on january 8, that would be brutal lol

KP to Tolliver, Richard, and Sims:
Now, our operation is small, but there’s a lot of potential for “aggressive” expansion. So, which one of you fine gentlemen would like to join our team? Oh, there’s only one spot open right now, so we’re gonna have… [throws ball between them] tryouts!
Miller - Roy - Webster - Aldridge - Przybilla. Is that so hard?
It's an awesome opportunity to get called up!
You get more looks, you get more cash…it’s all good

sounds about right
he hasn’t updated his website, yet.
I’m wondering if KP’s capspace is now down “around” 900k? (914,009 to be precise)
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
i don’t believe this affects their cap space and is treated separately. again, i am not 100 percent on this.

3 things I want to see
Roy being aggressive all game long. We know he can score against them so I’d like to see him attack them like pgs we can’t stop attack us. LMA playing like he did in the 2nd half of the kings game. And Bayless getting trust and 4th quarter minutes.
Your confusing thesis has captured my attention. Tell me more.
I'm ok if Bayless isn't getting crunch time minutes if Miller/Webs are playing well
I’d like him to play for the experience, but crunch time is earned.
Yeah, I'm happy if whoever is out there is doing well.
And we play hard and as close to our abilities as we can.
#52
He was the best player in crunch time in the last game though
Nate said he will roll more with whatever lineup works on offense or defense. If Blake scores all over Steve Nash, he’ll be out there. If not, he might sit and Miller or Bayless plays. If Webby stops Richardson or Hill well, he plays.
Miller - Roy - Webster - Aldridge - Przybilla. Is that so hard?
Yep totally agreed that if Bayless is on, he should be playing in the crunch
I just don’t want him to get time simply because it’s expected, or for the experience. He can get plenty of experience playing the first three quarters.
I want it because he played well last game
if Webster is stroking it for 3 quarters and Miller is destroying Nash I’m obviously ok with Bayless on the bench, but he seems to be figuring out how to play within the offense and off Roy. I want Nate to play whoever is playing best at the end, obviously. Except Roy and LMA nobody on the team has earned the right to automatically play in the 4th.
Your confusing thesis has captured my attention. Tell me more.

It's going to eventually stop being a coincidence that Portland loses leads when Blake enters the game.
If I recall correctly,
during that highly frustrating Celtics loss in Portland last December (featuring the vaunted 6-on-5 set late in the first half), Mike Rice informed us, “When in doubt, pass it to Blakey.”

But by putting him in it removes Roy from a guy who can’t do nothing and puts him on Hill because Martell would be guarding him.

Nate is blowing it again
He brings in Blake for Martell and suddenly we lose our lead and Grant Hill starts destroying us like he is lebron. Give me a break Nate, get a clue. Roy is a 2, and we need him to play it as much as possible. I think Nate must be secretly romantic with Steve.

dont agree
he passes out quite a bit and runs the screen and roll. He just rarely finds an open shooter, he normally hits the man who entered the ball.

I think he is STARTING to show he is worth it, and with how this season is…

DUDE ...
I about had a heart attack when dumbdumb said “Is that Roy?” hurt.
Ugh … God. don’t do that to me.
#52, #25, #88 ... hike!
Juwan Howard is totally useless, except for handing out fouls
Miller - Roy - Webster - Aldridge - Przybilla. Is that so hard?
Juwon got his money's worth on that foul on Amar'e...
"A bizarre and extremely rare hybrid Blazer/Laker fan, Timbo has always struggled to contain the Beast Within, like Dr. Jekyll, Bruce Banner, or Ted Kennedy." — Miled Animal
Juwan Howard nails Amare to prevent the fast break dunk
Then nonchalantly raises his hand like “in case you didn’t see it, that foul was on me”
said it before, gonna say it again
Watching Blake get into the paint is so zaching annoying, cause all he ever does is kick it out. He is so bad…

In the last five mins,
Marv Albert’s fill-in has managed to confuse Martell Webster for Anthony Tolliver and Andre Miller for Brandon Roy. Wonderful.

You should read the front page from time to time, though it also got some burn in the JD
Miller - Roy - Webster - Aldridge - Przybilla. Is that so hard?
Do you live in a cave???????????
haha—just kiddin
Keep starting Miller.

Anybody still believing in a Martell Webster breakout season?
Miller - Roy - Webster - Aldridge - Przybilla. Is that so hard?
He's an interesting case. It doesn't seem like it's gonna happen though.

He;s shown he's got ability
But sooooooooooooo inconsistent and spazzy.
I’ve liked his energetic defense best this year.
#52
He's got a great body and can move quicker now
He tries hard.
But, a Spazz of the 1st degree for now.
#52
He still has time, but he's having trouble putting it together
He’s not as invisible as he used to be when missing shots.
Missed an open look 3, which is what he is supposedly good at...

Why, is he playing NBA 2010?

Juwan knows how to pass in the paint...

that's his one remaining skill
but without Oden, it’s mostly wasted

Have the Blazers ever successfully defended a PnR
and NOT ended up getting switched and mismatched?
Blake rarely fights through the pick
2nd or 3rd time right there that he has ended up guarding Frye as a result of switching on a PnR.
Hey look, they're evening out the foul calls before the half.
It would be easier to believe they didn’t do it, if it didn’t seem so obvious.
even with Webster miss and goofy pass
i like him in there for defense, rebounding and hustle
at least compared to Blake
Somebody Make It Stop
No, I’m not talking about the Suns run. That I can handle.
Reggie Miller is the worst thing that has ever happened to TNT.
his sister is worse
on NBA TV also …. terrible
At least they limit her damage
To a handful of times per game.
Blake 3rd on the team in minutes played so far. Nate didn't really change anything when he took him out of the starting lineup.
He still plays more than Andre or Jerryd.

He snuck him in after like 4 minutes. It's a transparent attempt to get rid of the fan pressure while sticking to the binky....

that was funny
Most of our team is in expensive suits
Keep starting Miller.

LMA again fails to close out on Channing's 3. WHAT ELSE DO YOU THINK HE IS GOING TO DO.
pathetic.
#52
I don't buy that travel
its of NO advantage, and when you let LeBron and the like waltz through the paint…it really makes no sense
how come we got rid of frye..makin all those 3's

if somebody had a hand in his face
he doesn’t make those
It's really not hard to stop Channing Frye. You have to GUARD him.

Nate couldn't even figure out how to utilize Frye
coaching fail…
Channing is doing what he has always done. He hangs around the 3 point line and if nobody guards him, he makes it.

I wish Reggie was as honest.

I'm laughing so hard at the Portland coaching staff.
Such fail.

Przybilla got 2 PFs
Sits the rest of quarter.

The Blake and McMillan hatred is running strong again tonight
Travis Outlaw, the Funnel Cake of the Blazers
death and taxes

It's all the same phenomenon. Blake plays 113 minutes because Nate is stupid.

Glad he still has his "summer home" here....... We need him for color commentary in a few years...

Oden is certainly a special case though.
PHX’s anti-gravity stuff and cool new techniques seem to work to keep beaten up guys like Nash and Hill healthy.

it's the medical staff
we should trade Jay Jensen for one of their interns
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
Another typical Blazers '09-'10 half
- LMA and Roy with horrendous defense
- Roy underwhelming on offense
- LMA afraid of contact
- Blake leads the PGs in minutes for no apparent reason
- A center with 2 fouls plays limited minutes for no apparent reason

Blazers playing possum.
They are handicapping themselves then unleashing the full potential after All-Star break.

rope-a-dope
the 2nd quarter against the Kings was much more frustrating
unfortunately, we can’t expect the Suns to fold-up ike a cheap tent during the 4th quarter

did I just see
Rebecca give Channing a pat on the fanny?

predictions for 2nd half
5 min from Miller, 10 from Bayless, 0 from Cunningham and Webster, 15 from Howard, 20 from Blake
