Canzano on Oden's Kneecap, 12-12-09
I'm glad JC is asking the questions. http://www.oregonlive.com/sports/oregonian/john_canzano/index.ssf/2009/12/somethings_not_right_about_gre.html
Versus what's been said so far, I'm puzzled more by what's not being said. What exactly caused Greg's broken kneecap? It wasn't caused by contact with Brooks; it wasn't - per the surgeon - caused by a preexisting injury. Hmmm....we're told what it wasn't - so what was it, then?
What medically, physiologically, structurally is the reason Greg Oden's kneecap fractured?

Perhaps we should look into what is meteorologically wrong while we’re at it. I know my knee ache before it rains…
I should not sarcastically mock someone I don’t completely agree with.
I pray there is nothing technologically wrong with Greg's knees.
And if so, may the doctors install the latest advances.

Is no one asking the question, "What is ontologically wrong with Oden's knee?"
Where does the notion of “knee” come from? If I can conceive of the idea of a knee, it must be.
I'm going to come up with the best line here ever, something really clever.

I really hope that it had something to do with there being a hairline fracture from when he banged
knees with Maggette. I doubt it though, my gut says that it isn’t the case. It could also be that he jumped akwardly.
It’s just really bad when you hurt your knee jumping. That is such an essential for basketball. It’s like a surgeon losing his fingers.
Patella Dislocations are not quite as uncommon as you might think
You know that the problem with Greg is? That he is a freak of nature. People are not supposed to get 7 feet tall. Add to that playing basketball at the NBA level and you’ve potential problems.
Someone posted a list of recent Patella injuries, and I was surprised at how big the list is — including Andrew Bynum. Now, breaking it is a different issue, but I also think this can be chaulked up to Greg Oden being a freak of nature. His body just has different stresses than you or I.
While Greg Oden is an awesome player, I think we we need to have another player around for insurance — which will also mean playing him, Greg and Joel. While that does make for some problems, it does take time off of Oden’s knees until we see if he can have an injury free year. If he does, then we might be back in business again!
Dude
I’m glad JC is asking the questions.
If memory serves these questions were indeed asked… for several days… after the injury… by EVERYONE IN PORTLAND!!!! Just more regurgitated controversy in the Canzanoverse.

Isn't this the same guy who twittered "Pass the beer nuts"
in response to this injury?
Somehow, investigative zeal and compassion ring quite hollow.
Buck Williams for the hall of fame
That was my exact description
It looked like KP punched him in the kneecap, only his kneecap was that dense, NASA created foam they make pillows and bedtops out of…….
Witty Unpredictable Talent and Natural Game
I think it's a good question
and one that has been unanswered.
That was the first article I’d read of his in about a year. It of course had no substance but it asked a good question. It also read exactly like the mock articles that others write. Laughed… i cried… i groaned.
"Fernandez, to my eyes, is the Blazer who walks that walk most comfortably. A lot of Portland's fans (egged on, dare I say, by their local broadcasters) lament things like how Ron Artest or Yao Ming get to hit Brandon Roy's arms.
But I suspect Fernandez sees all that and thinks: We get to hit arms! Cool!"

Good juob Canzano.
I hope he keeps the story rolling! I applaud him for being discreet, humbled while trying to shed some light on the topic. It shows he has good intent on this topic.
The Blazers already own two top centers that have busted while in their care. This would make a 3rd. This organization may not survive in the same way, if history shows Greg could have been fixed instead of run into the ground time and time again— Doing the same things and expecting different results.
Whether or not Greg has gigantism; he will need some kind of therapy outside of what he is currently getting. As many have stated, he probably needs Postural Alignment Therapy. The guy who was on his show studied under the master of this therapy, Pete Egoscue. For those thinking the guest was a quack, Pete has over 24 clinics open world-wide. A couple best selling books and a radio show with over 12 million listeners—all who seem to get their best advice from him. Peter Jacobsen has stated that Pete “changed his life”. He has worked on clients ranging from Jack Nicklaus to Charles Barkley. Does an alternative therapy like this still seem like such quackery?
Greg is misaligned in his body. It creates a lot of pulling/stress in all his compensating joints. Either the cause or a manifestation of this problem is his unequaled sized legs. One is longer than the other. You can clearly see this when he walks. One side of his body dips to the ground as if he is walking off of a step. From there this has created a misalignment in all of his load bearing joints, his ankles, knees, hips and all the way up to his shoulders. You can see this in the way he stands; his right shoulder dips lower to the ground and he tilts his head to the left to compensate.

Pete Egoscue does not believe being one leg longer than the other actually happens, in a real, measurable sense. It is normally a condition that can be worked on and leaves once the body has returned to its normal symmetrical alignment. Dwight Howard is an example of a big man with very symmetrical alignment.
The guy is misaligned from head to toe. The Blazers need to be held accountable for their, our and Greg’s own good. Like the trend of today’s medical world, Greg needs the cause of his problems treated, not the symptoms. If we continue treating the symptom, he will get glued back together time and time again until they can no longer glue him back together. I would love nothing more than for the Blazers management to hunt down Pete Egoscue to spend a day or two studying Greg and letting him speak his word on what is going on and see if he can really offer a solution. We are at a fork in the road—what path are we going to take? What could hurt from looking for the best solutions available to Greg, in the world? Why am I asking, ‘what could it hurt?’ when that is exactly to me, what they need to be doing at this point.

"He needs to realize that he can't stop every shot, especially from a smaller and offensively potent player. Get your hands up, make him shoot it over you, but let him shoot every once in a while. They score a little but you stay in the game a lot. And when you stay in the game...smashy smashy!" Dave on Greg Oden
aparently we are not the only ones questioning it
Greg’s agents are going to be looking into it, and seeing if they can come up with something. I guess it only makes sense to do that, since not only Greg’s financial future in doubt, but so is his agents. Hopefully whatever comes from it help Greg stay strong and play for the Blazers for a long time.

This is a bright day!
These words have be encouraged!
“"Mike and I are going to do a thorough analysis of every aspect of Greg’s physiology," Duffy told SI.com Thursday. "That means there will be no stone unturned in terms of really understanding his body — the balance of his body, the symmetry of his body, the strength of his bones. Every aspect as relates to nutrition, DNA, muscle mass, everything we can study, we’re going to dig into at this point."
Duffy said he and Conley will seek out the best medical and training advice "around the world.""
WOW!
I have given this information about Egoscue to the Blazers staff, local media and finally a local liason to Oden’s management company. This was all over a year ago prior to the multiple multiple injuries. They don’t have to believe me or the exact people/therapy I have suggested. I am happy with the words, “around the world”, “no stone left un-turned”, etc. etc. This excites me to know because I truly believe we havn’t even seen what Greg can do with a more symmetrical body and frankly, neither have we! This is great news to me, great, great news!
More than likely bright days ahead folks! Go Blazers! Go G-O!
