I hope we dominate the THIRD quarter

Miller - Roy - Webster - Aldridge - Przybilla. Is that so hard?

if the FOURTH quarter doesn't go any better

I’m gonna need a fifth.

If I were Nate I woudl absolutely lite into this team

I am honestly angry. Its one thing to lose to a team that is close to your talent level. Its quite another to lose to one that sucks talent-wise but is playing harder.

Roy might be the best player on the floor.

I don’t think the Kings are outmatched from a talent perspective.

Agreed

I could even go so far as to entertain a Thompson > LMA argument. I think Thompson is a stud, not nearly the skill set on offense as LMA, but defense and rebounding win games

Always supporting Greg Oden.

by blazeraddict on Dec 15, 2009 8:21 PM PST up reply actions

As the rocket's entire team proves, that makes up for a lot

Thompson isn’t an unskilled caveman lumbering around out there, but LMA is definitely more skilled so if they matched effort he should come out on top. But that is one big if.

Your confusing thesis has captured my attention. Tell me more.

by terryisntbald on Dec 15, 2009 8:25 PM PST up reply actions

I commented on Thompson on being a comparative player to LMA last year.

He has the midrange jumper and is capable of finishing a tough layup in traffic. LMA has the edge of being a much taller and longer player.

You can only yell in the locker room so many times before players tune it out.

Adelman was famously reserved in the locker room, then one day, after a lackluster half in an important game, he loudly kicked over a metal trash can to the shock of the whole team. They dominated the second half.

It’s all about how often you use the temper. :) I wonder how often Nate does so.

by Timmay! on Dec 15, 2009 8:21 PM PST up reply actions

He doesn't seem to get angry often

This team needs SOMEONE to give them a spark.

I'd say they're pretty equal in talent and playing much harder

Roy may be better than anyone they have, but Evans exploits his matchup better, like most teams against the blazers. If they want to make the playoffs the blazers only hope is to work harder and they don’t seem to know how consistently.

Your confusing thesis has captured my attention. Tell me more.

They gave that lip service this summer

and here we are

Chad Ford on Oden, "He's definitely a defensive force... I don't think he'll ever put up the big numbers that Shaq did. But he could be the best big man defender in the league... frankly, having a 7 footer that can do that will produce more rings than a 6-11 small forward who can score 30 ppg. That was the thinking all along why GMs preferred Oden to Durant. KD is the sexier player and as an offensive player there is just no comparison. KD is great. Oden is aspiring to average. But defensively, Oden could be dominant. KD ... not so much."

Could have said it better myself. Thanks Mr. Ford!

I am more disappointed in the coaching staff than the injuries.

Injuries happen and can’t be prevented or predicted. Bad coaching? Not so much….

Start Miller.

by RenoBlazerFan on Dec 15, 2009 8:22 PM PST up reply actions

I’m disappointed at the coaching too but the players have to play. Nate should play Bayless more, everyone agrees with that, and the substituting is ridiculous at some points but the team has to step up. Roy and Aldridge are supposed to be our two best players and they are still both healthy so we still should be winning.

by ChrisG503 on Dec 15, 2009 8:26 PM PST up reply actions

True, but I think Nate's inane substitutions and 40-minute Blake games

have had an effect on team morale. I agree that LMA and Broy have been pretty dismal so far.

Full 10 easy

The Oden injury put me over the top, Couldn’t be more down. Our best hope for something useful coming out of this year is playing a young guy at pg more and hoping one of our 2nd round picks turns out to be a decent player. It sucks

Regardless of whether we win this game

How long do the lackluster performances need to continue before we get the first national story that involves the word “Nate” and the phrase “hot seat”?

One month? Or until we’re 5 games under .500? (Not that I didn’t say Nate gets fired, just that national media start noting his status)

by blzrfan on Dec 15, 2009 8:27 PM PST up reply actions

Injuries are giving him a lot of slack nationally

unless you watch the team a lot you’d just assume their bad play was because of the injuries. I think it’ll take them dropping below .500 for it to get really loud. The problem is that Nate’s biggest effect on the team when they were young was getting them to play hard and now they don’t.

not spectacular, but he’s in the rotation and contributing. That’s about as well as you can expect a rookie second rounder to do. Hard to fault KP for that.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
