Andre Miller, Portland: The Blazers may not want to move Miller, but long-term injuries to Nicolas Batum, Travis Outlaw and Rudy Fernandez have left Portland with a gaping hole at small forward. Miller's three-year contract is only guaranteed for another year and a half, making him a reasonable acquisition. A source says Portland has at least broached the subject of Miller with Houston, hoping to pull Shane Battier from the Rockets' grasp. Good luck with that.

I doubt we could get Battier for Miller.
Roy, Aldridge, Oden, Rudy, Batum, Outlaw, Webster, Bayless, Blake, Miller, Joel... Holy crap!
Weird to say that as in any other year I think it would be a doable deal
Miller doesn’t really fit in Houston anyway so don’t see this happening
Chad Ford on Oden, "He's definitely a defensive force... I don't think he'll ever put up the big numbers that Shaq did. But he could be the best big man defender in the league... frankly, having a 7 footer that can do that will produce more rings than a 6-11 small forward who can score 30 ppg. That was the thinking all along why GMs preferred Oden to Durant. KD is the sexier player and as an offensive player there is just no comparison. KD is great. Oden is aspiring to average. But defensively, Oden could be dominant. KD ... not so much."
Could have said it better myself. Thanks Mr. Ford!
Adelman isn't a stickler for a particular offense.
He tends to do what the players are good at. It would probably work pretty well. Better than here.

Was more thinking he wouldn't fit because Brooks and Lowry are adequately covering the point for them this year
I’m sure Adelman could more effectively utilise a pg with as much skill and experience as Miller than Mr. McMillan

I would like the deal though
No disrespect to Andre but Battier would add another shooter.

That would make me very happy. Sweeten the pot as needed.
Battier fits the culture to a T. Miller and Battier have had similar levels of accomplishment and are at the same stage of their careers. Only what Battier does fits our needs and the current system. Miller is still a big question mark. I wonder if this has any merit.
Battier would be a great fit here...
He brings:
- Great defense
- Solid 3-pt shooting (38.6% lifetime)
- The right attitude
- Maturity and Intelligence
I would love to see him as a Blazer, but I think it would take a lot more than Miller to get him.. What other assets are we willing to give up along with Miller?
Is it just me or...
would Battier be an ENORMOUS acquisition? For some reason, he always sticks out as an All-Star in my mind.
it's probably just you
he averages 8 points and shoots <40% from the field. ya, i know he’s a defensive specialist, but he won’t put us into contention all by himself.
i’d rather play batum 35+ mpg than give this guy any minutes.
That's a tough call.
Battier would be great to have even if Nic gets back. We’ll have two premier defenders but will be more stacked at SF. And doesn’t solve our PG situe.
Being a Blazer fan is not exactly healthy.
What are this season's stats on Battier?
I thought I read something somewhere (TrueHoop?) that suggested he’s declined this year. I like Battier, but we don’t need guys who are just beginning their drop-off.
Did something happen to Brooks or Lowry?
The last time I saw them play (Friday night, before last) the Rockets already had two pretty good penetrating PGs. Maybe if one of them were to go down…but I’d rather target Landry, Scola or Hayes…but Morey would probably convince KP that Anderson and Dorsey are the pick of the litter
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
In a heartbeat
I am shocked that there is any hesitation, and this is from a Miller fan. Battier is one of the best defensive players in the league, can knock down the three, high basketball IQ, and can play both the 3 and 4. Remember that Houston gave up Rudy Gay for Battier, I think that they would be looking for more than Miller. I am pretty sure it would take an additional first round pick, which I would be open to provided it is lotto protected.
