"With the first pick of the 2007 NBA draft, the Portland Trail Blazers select: Greg Oden from Ohio State University"

Lucky.

No drinks for me tonight. I’m the equivalent of the designated driver for the house occupants.

I've got the Bucks guys.

They just said that the Blazer’s game plan isn’t complicated (true), but is hard to stop (eh?). And that Aldridge is a brilliant post player. Though against the Bucks last year, he did really good down there.

Mine's going.

But you’ve got the International one. After watching ESPN’s 360 last night, I have to say that the NBA could use a MAJOR upgrade.

the big problem right now is that we are trying to feed it into LMA, but after they front him we have no way to make them pay. Thus Blake dribbles until something else happens.

by Norsktroll on Dec 12, 2009 6:09 PM PST up reply actions

Sometimes it's fun to have a weird opinion. :)

The comparison isn’t perfect, but he’s a somewhat undersized score-first point guard who likes the ball in his hands. Sure Damon couldn’t really dunk, but there are always differences in comparisons.

by Timmay! on Dec 12, 2009 6:11 PM PST up reply actions

I think the critical difference there is that Bayless is way bigger than Damon and attacks the rim instead of shooting jumpres.

#52

by Cablinasian on Dec 12, 2009 6:12 PM PST up reply actions

also, Bayless is undersized for a shooting guard, Damon is undersized for a point guard. Damon got burned on D because opposing guards could shoot over him so, so easily.

I have hope for Bayless… I sure hope he isn’t Damon.

Bogut is blocking illegally there. Offensive foul on him.. He's pushing backwards on LMA, using is body to create a screen by football-style blocking with his butt...

That was a clear foul, called the wrong way.

what's pissing me off

aside from the announcers, who will always piss me off.

Coach: Still plays 3 guard line-up. in fact, now they have the audacity to go 3 PG line up. Blake Miller Bayless. Are they just trying to get Bayless to look worse? Shouldn’t Blake be subbed out instead of webster/roy-especially when he’s playing so awful?

Aldridge: Still fading play after play. Still lacks killer instinct. You get good post position and instead of backing in, you back out of the key. What? Way to take the power out of PF. And for gods sake quit being all smiles out there and take care of business. don’t chuckle that you missed a dunk when you’re down 9. if you’re up 10 its a different story, but your not so dont.

Roy: Quit being so lazy out there. We know you like to emulate the best and are probably looking to SAS and others coasting in the regular season-you should realize you don’t have that luxury. Stop playing lazy off those P&R plays. No more waving off picks or making super slow or too early moves that mess up the whole play. you’re making the offense MORE clunky, that’s not what a max contract player does.

Now here's my complaint. Ilyasova shouldn't be in the NBA, she should be in the WNBA.

Ilyasova is a WOMEN’S name — the daughter or wife of a man named Ilyasov. A son should be named Ilyasov… It’s like a dude with the name Cynthia or something like that. REALLY weird……..

Dude is Steve Blake going to stop trying to be a hero. We want Martell or Roy to shoot the last shot.

It’s like he is so desperate for his teammates to give him a pat on the back he’ll do anything.

So he went out and purposefully refused to shoot, instead tried to get as many assists as he could to “prove” how unselfish he thought he was. Same thing.

First half thoughts

- Roy isn’t right. Not getting to the rim at all.
- Martell hitting 3s is great. He should never ever shoot a two pointer unless it is completely wide open. Off screens and off the dribble he is terrible.
- Blake hit a couple shots. That’s nice. The idea that he’s getting the most run of the 3 PGs is still absurd, but at least its less than it has been.
- Great job on the glass. Just 1 O-reb by Milwaukee.
- Howard should never be on Bogut ever.

Dean must never become our head coach. He’s just creating more insane ways to get Blake minutes.

Roy played well. He hit some tough shots. I am just saying he doesn't look right. He is not able to get to the rim at all.

The fact that he was still fairly effective is impressive, but its not the Roy who was 2nd team all NBA.

Roy may be hurting more then we know

an injury we aren’t aware of may explain his inability to perform at the level we expect. So he deserves credit for sucking it up and giving it his all anyways.

totally agree

it’s tiresome to see his inability to use the screen well this season. In fact he wasn’t really good in this last season either but he’s worse this year. He just almost never turns the corner or drive past the opposing big guy.

I mean, I am not asking to beat opposing SG all day long, but at least show some ability to beat a 7-footer or two occasionally. Is that really too much to ask?

Instead he constantly leaves him getting trapped or doubled from P&R play.

To me that’s one of the biggest PTB mysteries this season.

I did not hear Rice say "He can do that" even one time that half

I think he is getting self-conscious about it. He said “he can…. (pause)” then finished the sentence awkwardly without just saying “do that.” The thing is Rice, when we all see the guy “do that” we know “he can do that.”
