Time for Nate McMillan to Go Who Agrees??
I know its only three games in a row. But we have only beat teams we are suppose to beat.
Bye Nate tIme to go. Thanks for all you did.. Not hating on you but it's time to go..
I want to know if there is a mass of fans that believe nate has lost the team? We need a coach who 1.doesnt call plays from the bench 2.change the player rotaion weekly and 3.has respect from his stars
BROY Shut up and play
Lamarcus Stop playing soft
Oden Start dominating not playing
Catfish We need you! you too Batum

totally agree!
let’s blow this thing up now before we lose another game! It has been proven that nate is an incompetant fool, brandon is a shell of his former self, oden is a bust, and andre is poop, so is blake. and L.A. is poop too.
3rd down... chainsaw noise please.
by the way
I know this post wasn’t harping on the starters, it was harping on Nate. I can understand letting some steam off but are you seriously considering firing nate now and going with another coach at this stage of the franchise’s developement?
21-32-41-54. 12-8? Fire the coach? Really? A vulcan would not agree with you.

looking around at how many lottery teams stay lottery
I’m not sure easy is the word i’d use.
"Fernandez, to my eyes, is the Blazer who walks that walk most comfortably. A lot of Portland's fans (egged on, dare I say, by their local broadcasters) lament things like how Ron Artest or Yao Ming get to hit Brandon Roy's arms.
But I suspect Fernandez sees all that and thinks: We get to hit arms! Cool!"

Oden is far from a bust!
But I agree 100% that Nate should have been canned along time ago. He has definitely hindered the progress of this team.
Hey, we actually played better tonight
Nate’s isn’t going anywhere for a while, so deal with it.
The problem with the offense, imho, is that there are not enough seconds in the clock to feature LaMarcus, Greg, and Brandon. This is especially true because LMA and Oden play with there backs to the basket and towards each other … lots of clock eaten up on post, repost, kick out swing, post sequences. We played better tonight largely because LMA was injured, thus freeing up valuable shot clock seconds. A trade is the best solution to this problem, especially if Oden “hits the ski jump” on his nearly limitless potential soon.

We looked better because guys were actually playing with energy and scrappping for loose balls
However, the team was actually pretty pathetic in terms of trying to get any sort of offensive flow or create easy shots. Without the exceptionally high rate of offensive rebounding that the Blazers achieved tonight, they would have lost by more than 20. We would do better with the post, repost, kick-out, swing sequences than with what we ended up using against the Heat.

played better?
musta been watching diff games. I saw a team down by ten or more the entire game and who never mounted a serious threat.

I would rather have Jaff Van Gundy or Tom Thibodeau
The players aren’t listening to Nate and they don’t like his slow, boring style. How can a team that athletic not be run and gun? And we definitely need a trade. Let’s see what Pritchard can do. I hope he does something.

these fire nate posts are lame.
and irrelevant.
Nate has earned this whole season to screw up. Because he has an impeccable record in 4 seasons.
And because two main guys are injured.
That’s it.
So pipe down.

is there another coach you can think of that has improved their win total
by ten games in four consecutive seasons? That’s pretty impeccable.

i agree, but he won't until season end
my 2 issues for the evening:
1. first starter subbed for was only 1 other than Roy with a bucket. Roy had 8 or 10 at the time, Webster had 5, Cunningham made one foul shot. No other points. Why pull Web then? he was cold the rest of the night after that.
2. When Joel picked up his 3rd oden should have been put in. in fact he hopped up immediately, got to the scorers table and was pulled back by Nate. We had cut it to 2, pretty good considering how we started, we had momentum, then we go the last 3 minutes without a center and go into the locker room down 10. We had a shot at getting this thing tied up or maybe even taking a lead before half (maybe not have kept it all the way through to half, but it would have been a psychological boost) ony to get turned away.

I agree with your point completely.
but to fire nate is ridiculous right? please agree with me here.
3rd down... chainsaw noise please.
eh, ridiculous? not ridiculous
maybe more dramatic than ridiculous. I just have never liked his game management, even when we were making huge strides over the past 3 seasons. I always gave him the benefit of the doubt on that front because the team was so young. Now, with his style being one of the more obvious barriers to sustained success, my doubts are surfacing more readily.
I look at it this way, do you think his coaching will lead us to an eventual title? i don’t. so i am ready for him to go whenever pritchard is ready to make the move.
"Oh Yeah!" ~ Kool Aid Man
I think i need to side with you here
I don’t like his game management either. However, I’m still going to give him some slack despite my increasing grrr. he can show he’s right, he can adapt, or he can hang himself with it.

I wish I could agree with you here, but I'm just not convinced that the available alternatives are better.
Yes Nate makes me crazy but I just don’t like the alternatives yet.
Somebody needs to post a “This guy is way better and here is why” fanpost that really sells me on another coach.

Dennis Rodman?
joking here, but i bet he can get these guys playing, tougher, grittier, more scrappy ball
"Oh Yeah!" ~ Kool Aid Man
Who is out there that can coach the team?
I agree that Nate has to keep the rotation the same. But it’s hard with all the injuries. If the Blazers were healthy I think they wouldn’t have lost all 3 of these games. I know there’s chemistry issues but the team needs to get over that. I never thought I’d say Brandon Roy is holding the Blazers back but he is. Andre Miller is the best point guard Portland’s had in a while and Brandon prefers Steve Blake. I’m hoping the Blazers can figure it out. If they can’t then the last 4 years of bringing these guys would mean nothing. I don’t think Nate is the problem though I understand why people think he is. This team won 54 games last year with Nate as the coach. They potentially are better this season. The players just have a lot to figure out.

"This isn’t making staples, where you’re just making staples." - KP
If he seemed to know how to fix things I'd have more confidence
After every loss his only answer is that they need to work more. Why don’t we just hire a 80s exercise instructor if all we need is energy? He’s bad at managing rotations, so it really does seem like his best asset was getting them to play hard, but he can’t do that anymore. I think he was the perfect coach for the Baby Blazers, but now I just don’t see him being able to take them to the championship level where you have to outcoach and use strategy to get an advantage.

Who are the options for replacement?
Are there any good candidates out there who can take his job?

My general philosophy on firing coaches
You shouldn’t fire your coach unless you have someone you think is an improvement lined up. For example, if the Ducks’ basketball team could have gotten Gonzaga’s coach this summer I would have said fire Ernie Kent in a heartbeat, but when they unofficially offered they turned him down. You don’t want to be stuck looking for anything. However, if a coach has clearly lost the team then you have to make a move in the season, because anybody who has the team’s ear will be in improvement.
I still think Nate has a chance to get the team playing hard again so things could work this year. I do think in the offseason they should look for someone new. Nate was a good fit when the team was young, but I don’t think he can manage games enough to lead us to a title.

mchale
can teach aldridge to be a better post player and oden how to curse loudly enough to draw a foul on the other guy when the opposing player flings him across the paint (a rather impressive feat by oneal by the way, not sure i have ever seen a guy do that to oden before)…mchales use of f*ck and sh*t in the paint got more foul calls than him actually being fouled ever did as i recall…

I agree that Nate has done a very poor job so far this season
I know the record is ok, but the basketball itself has been awful. Nate has been outcoached by everyone this season except Vinnie Del Negro.
I also agree with these:
BROY Shut up and play
Lamarcus Stop playing soft

I'll say that again: Nate has been outcoached by everoyone this season except
VINNIE DEL NEGRO

The ideal starting lineup...
1 Spot – Jerryd Bayless
2 Spot – Jerryd Bayless
3 Spot – Brandon Roy
4 Spot – LaMarcus Aldridge
5 Spot – Greg Oden
BAROB!!!
Toss the season in the dumpster and get Bayless some playing time!

this is funny
I didnt read the rest of the comments, so I am not sure if someone has mentioned this but…
“BROY Shut up and play

You pointed out what was going wrong, but I dont see Nates name in there… Its the players not the coach.

My concern is...
Nate had time to “work” on the issues with the team after the Memphis and Utah debacles and they still came out flat and uninspired. I personally think Nate has lost this team (from a respect level) and it seems apparent to me.
Especially, when you throws out such gems as “we’ve got to figure it out” and “we need to play with scrappiness”.
One of your jobs as a coach is to motivate your players and Nate has proven (at least to me) that he is not up to the challenge.
Now, I’m not saying that he can’t learn to be a better coach, but all accounts that I’ve heard indicate he is as stubborn as they come and, with the relatively short life-span of coaches in this league and the uber-high expectations on this team, I think he will be the first victim…if they continue to play uninspired ball.
Only time will tell.
if he's lost the team
then the team should look around and realize they’re losing because of it.

Also
if they’re playing like they are to rebel against Nate… I’d want to get rid of every single player who was doing it. nate irks me, but that’s no reason to not want to win games. You play and be professional regardless and you follow the game plan.
