Dale Davis was supposed to be the answer

that guy who would be able to play Shaq straight up. For some unknown and utterly baffling rationale, the Whitsett led mind-trust lacked faith in Jermaine. It was sad too because Jermaine had shown he was not afraid to go nose to nose with Shaq deep in the key.

See that’s what happens when you trade away the future for the now.

"This isn’t making staples, where you’re just making staples." - KP

by tominhawaii on Dec 1, 2009 6:28 PM PST up reply actions

I doubt sitting on the bench caused back spasms

and the bask spasms weren’t a major problem. Jermaine got drafted in the same draft as (forgive me) kobe bryant and so there was added reason to cheer for Jermaine. He shoulda got more time and it was only after he got traded that his game truly emerged.

Dogs have Owners, Cats have Staff.

by bow4meow on Dec 1, 2009 6:33 PM PST up reply actions

I always forget draft stuff

Jermaine faked injuries when he was a Blazer because the two players in front of him was better. Maybe it was the influence of some other soft Blazers, but I think ended up injured for a lot of his career because of bahchi.

Jermaine didn;t fake anything

c’mon. If he was hurt he was hurt. It is true he had Sheed, Sabas and maybe Grant ahead of him… but still, the PTB shoulda shown some patience rather then trade him for utter failure DD. Whitsett rolled the dice… craps.

I think the Blazers...

…should get the inside game going and then let the tempo decide itself. We are so deep, so talented that we should be able to play multiple forms of basketball.

I also like what Chris Sheridan said yesterday. Obviously with LA out it won’t happen tonight but a starting lineup of Andre-Roy-Rudy-LA-Oden sounds good to me.

All of the grousing regarding lineups, who starts, and what style of ball we play needs to end. With the calibre of player we have 1-12 it shouldn’t matter who is on the court and when.

There is too much thinking and second guessing going on right now. If these guys just went out there and played some ball I believe we would quickly find our rhythm and start doling out some beatings.

A mini-climax in the Blazer's young season...

What will happen? Will they come out with renewed energy or will they fall flat on their collective face and spiral even further down the hole?

…and now I see that the “What happens if we lose our starting power forward…?” scenario playing out as well. (Aldridge is not playing tonight and is listed as day-to-day).

Is it just me, or are all the challenges\concerns brought up earlier manifesting at an alarming rate? This is apparently the year where this young Trailblazer team will “grow up” due to “adversity”. If they can make it through this year’s challenges then they will be primed for dynasty level play in the not-too-distant future.

Such an interesting story these Blazers have been (and continue to be). This is why I am a fan…

by OmoriumVerum on Dec 1, 2009 6:51 PM PST up reply actions

Dante and Jeff could turn out to be nice players

but the idea of backing up LMA with two rookies and a 36-37 year old is what concerned me, all summer

Oh, and the idea of Oulaw being Portland’s #1 backup at PF (after his underwhelming playoff series) was a wee bit troubling, as well

now, if you’ll excuse me…I have to go chase away all of these roster problems that have come home to roost

Come on, step up and be a man. Roy sad he was confused about his role, but he still plays. Even if he doesn’t know if he will get the ball, he still plays – even confused. If you’re confused about who to guard, will we even notice? Ask Nate who to guard, it’s probably the 2nd biggest guy out there.
