Another Pro-Andre Post
I just wanted to address this Andre Miller situation and everyone else who is buying into ESPN's theory (see box 7, scroll down) that we only signed Andre to turn our cap space into a trade-able asset.
That's just a darned shame. Sometimes you just don't know what you've got 'till it's gone. This guy could absolutely help lead our team deep into the playoffs this season. He's one of the best point guards in the league and if we, as a community and fans, can't have some patience and we try to run this guy out of town - shame on us. Also, if our organization and our star player can't figure out how to utilize this guy effectively then we have much bigger problems on our hands.
We've played five games. It can definitely be your opinion that Miller is not working out, but there's no way anyone can tell me five games into the regular season that it's true. Of all people John Canzano provides some food for thought here. And here's a comment I posted on another thread yesterday that might help the doubters reconsider (with photos provided by 92wastheyear).
This can work. It should work. And as fans of this team we should all be pulling for it to work, in my humble opinion. I love Steve Blake. Steve Blake is exactly who you want relieving your starting point guard in a clutch playoff situation. It's time to start Miller. It's time for us to let this team develop chemistry on the court and give them a reasonable amount of time to do so. It's time for us to have a little more faith in our team.
GO BLAZERS!

I completely agree
I’m also a Philly fan, so have probably watched a little more of Dre the past couple years than the average Blazers fan. He’s a very good player and could catalyze our team into something special… but for some reason there’s been this resistance right from his arrival among some PDX fans. I don’t get it.
Is it that people take Blake ‘under their wing’ because he’s the classic “nobody thought I could do it!” underdog?

Not that he's an underdog...
…more that he’s what we (and Brandon) are familiar with. If we want to take the next step we’re going to have to be able to deal with uncomfortable situations. Thanks for chiming in about what you know Andre is capable of. As a Sixers fan, hopefully people will take your insight to heart.

yeah, but...
What we’re most recently ‘familiar’ with re:Blazers is the Houston series, which I thought showed everyone that Blake is not a playoff-caliber starting PG.

risk taking
one casual definition of insanity is expecting that doing the same thing in the same way will produce different results. the blazers will only step up to the next level by taking some risks. KP took a risk by signing Miller. now it is up to Nate to use Miller (and Oden for that matter) in a way that exploits their strengths and makes the team better. Oh yeah, and Brandon may need to adjust a bit also.

I'm on the Bayless bandwagon.
Miller is mediocre so far. Maybe he’ll have a breakout game tonight against the Spurs, but so far he has not impressed with any aspect of his game. His outside shot is freaking pathetic. Looks like the Aflac duck trying to push a basketball up in the air with his wings. Not only that but he[s still out of shape. Flabby. I’ll give him time to improve, but right now I’m pulling for Bayless to steal the starting PG spot. Seems like Bayless would fit well alongside BRoy.

Miller vs. Bayless (as ridiculous as that sounds):
It’s easy to get on the Bayless bandwagon becasue he is still relatively unknown, he hasn’t played five games this season (rolling eyes). But Andre Miller is a know NBA factor. He has been for over 10 years. Do some research.

If there was just one "Pro Brandon" or "Pro Nate" post...
in all this sideline criticism it would be a much better place to be…
This is one of the three posts that made it clear to me that I no longer want to hang out here…
(last one) … GO BLAZERS!!!

I guess I haven't really felt the need to defend Brandon.
Although I am extremely pro-Nate. My comment regarding Nate and Brandon is more aimed at the naysayers who say Andre is a bust. Nate and Brandon are in trouble if they can’t figure out how to utilize Andre. I believe they can and will. Sorry you took this post so hard you jumped off the blogger bridge. Didn’t intend to change anyone’s life.

I doubt they
would just sign him to trade him. They got the best player they could and will find a way to make him fit into the system

This Blazer fan is VERY pro Andre
And I believe many others are as well. I think it is a Brandon Roy thing and a coach McMillan thing. McMillan needs to recognize Miller’s talent and start him and tell Brandon to suck it up if he’d like to WIN.

VERY pro patience.
My main reason for making this post was to make the statement that it’s to early to tell for sure one way or the other and we need to have patience as a fan base. Take it or leave it.

You late arrivals, don't trample all of us...
…who have been on the Dre bus since it pulled into town… But welcome aboard…
I’m really encouraged by Dre running the O AND the D, feeding Oden (who looked awesome last night) down low.. Wait until we get Rudy in there (sorry, instead of Steve) and start running the break…
