We’re five games in. And, no, Blake isn’t getting any better. But the Blazers also have seven and a half million bucks worth of expiring contracts to deal in Blake and Travis Outlaw(notes) (no, I’m not one of those guys who underrates Travis Outlaw), and teams will be looking to move all sorts of talent this year as they prepare for the summer. If not for going after big time free agents, then to just cut salary. It rhymes with “Perk Blimeblick.”
Sometimes his coach calls him “Purt.”
I believe I said this with the slight variation of “Blirk Minerick.”

Ya gotta love Dwyer
When all the world sees the obvious, you wonder if the two GM’s can set aside their issues (be it cheapness or over valuation) and get this deal done.

If the Bulls will part with Cap'n Perk
for Trout and Blake’s expiring contracts, then KP would have to be an absolute mother hen to turn that down (gathers his “chicks” under his wings—get it?)
but I suspect Chi-town will ask for Rudy, and that will be the hypothetical deal-breaker
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!

I love the idea of getting Conley
I also think that Bayless could turn out to be darn good for this team.
Even with all that, I would not hesitate to trade Blake, Outlaw and Bayless for Hinrich, or Outlaw/Bayless and Miller if they would prefer that.
I would give up on all my dreams of Conley and Oden reuniting, all the potential of Bayless just to get Hinrich. That is simply because his defense in addition to his deferential style of play would be a perfect fit for this team.
If we could have added Hinrich and Nick Collison over the summer without giving up more than Travis, Blake, Bayless and a couple of draft picks I would have been in heaven – and we wouldn’t be 2-3 or dealing with all these questions of fitting in and players being confused with their roles. No need to sign Miller, just draft a back up pg (Lawson, Collison or Beaubois would have been fine) and go into the season with two good players at every position and have a clearly defined hierarchy..
A balanced roster that is settled beats a talented one in disarray every time.
