Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Isn't Up To Speed On Jeremy Lin, 'Linning'

A Fast and Worthy Poll: Please Try It

This is in Honor of all this crap we've been hearing about puts' or putz' and "figuring it all out", benchings, startings and or losing to teams we shoulda beat. We have had a rough couple of games to be sure, and it will certainly be time to "wear our hearts on our sleeve." But if we play with heart or not, we still have to make some adjustments. Im not a coach, and I can see that. So, really quick here, will we come out with a new starting lineup vs the Heat or will we go back to a lineup we previously used? Or will it stay the same starters?

Personally, I would put Andre Miller into the starting lineup and put Blake into the second unit and see how that goes. We havent tried it yet and I think Miller deserves a chance to run the team. He has played slightly better than Blake overall, but Blake has shot a little better. Even so, Miller deserves a shot with the first unit, and Steve will play fine in our second unit, plus our second unit will then have a "starting" quality pg in Blake to make plays for them.

Please, let me know what you think. Whether you agree or disagree. Thanks. Go Blazers!

Uggh--I missed this in the Full Court Press

The Blazers’ defense got scorched over the weekend, allowing the Grizzlies and Jazz to shoot 57 percent from the field. In the 10 games Andre Miller has come off the bench, Portland’s defensive rating is 105.2, as opposed to 93.4 in the nine games he started.

Maybe Miller in the starting lineup isnt the answer!! Sheesh!!

That's immensely simple

But that doesn’t make it wise. Simplicity an accuracy are very different things.

Our best 5? So we should start Roy, Rudy, LA, Oden, and Przybilla?

This is one of those arguments that sounds immensely smart but is actually complete nonsense.

Not to say that I disagree with starting Andre, but this is not the reason to do so.

I voted the same

but not because I don’t think it should be MRWAO, I just think Nate will stick with BRWAO

My vocalized reaction to the Poll Results: "That's awesome!!"

Based on the fact that probably of BE visitors (excluding Nate) are either highly in favor of, or would strongly consider, a different lineup, and yet 78% (including me) assume that the lineup will stay the same. That’s some faith in Nate’s resilience.

I would like to get

an answer to this: Did people not read or hear what nate said about starting andre with roy and why? That their was a clash when the 2 are on the floor. Why would he start him when that would make roy play even worse?? But at this point nothing would surprise me.

The disconnect

is where you imply that Coach is necessarily right. Roy and Andre can and should have time to develop a system where they can play well together. Leaving your best option for point on the bench is clearly the wrong choice. Putting off the necessary period of development until later in the season, when the schedule gets harder and the game more physical, is a mistake.

right on

I think Nate does not like it, the players will roll with it.

If Nate tried last year's starting backcourt this year and its hasn't worked so far...

then why not give Miller a chance? Its JUST a chance…!! How hard can it be? Try him out.. if he doesn’t work then he doesn’t work but at least give the guy a chance!

The question asked if we would see a new line up

so I voted No. But if the question were re-phrased, “should we see a new line up” I would vote yes. I am amazed at how many people were calling for Blakes head in the off season and who now believe that he is the best point guard behind Steve Nash. We brought in Miller to start, he should start. I can not count how many times I have screamed at the TV while watching games “Put in Miller” or Blake can’t run the fast break, put in Miller.

So IMHO, start Miller or send him to another team for cap space. But for the love of Larry, don’t keep putting him on the bench or on the second unit. Of course Brandon is more comfortable with Blake, they have played together for a couple of years. But Dre is the best PG on the team and should be starting. Come on Nate, do some real championship coaching.

Just try it for 3 Games and see if it works - NATE!

ODEN
LMA
WEBBY
BROY
MILLER

I can’t be any more clear and concise than that.

I could be a bit more specific though...

5 – ODEN
4 – LMA
3 – WEBBY
2 – BROY
1 – MILLER

Without this he might try Miller at the 2 and Webby at the 1 and say “See! It doesn’t work!”

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
