Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

And why not Avery?

Avery Johnson is a very well respected, tactful, talented coach with a commanding presence and a System that in my humble opinion, would mesh perfectly with our roster. I believe we have the potential to be alot better than the Mavericks team Avery coached to the NBA Finals. One thing Avery would definitely do is get the absolute most out of this team as far as effort is concerned. Here are just a few of Avery's accomplishments (in a short period of time) 194 wins 70 losses, 735% win average, 05/06 NBA coach of the year, 1999/2000 NBA Champion, Western conference champion/ NBA Finalist as coach. Can one of you nate supporters please tell me what he has accomplished besides watching Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge improve the team every season? And even _that_ took Brandon going to nate and having to plead for the freedom to operate. And im serious about that, WHAT HAS NATE ACCOMPLISHED ON _ANY_ LEVEL?

It's like I've been saying, We've had success _despite_ nate, not _because_ of nate.

Sorry guys, Im the biggest Blazer supporter you will ever meet, I bleed Black & Red and Despise the fakers. I Loved us when we were 21-61 and I Love us now. But I cannot remain silent while nate single handedly kills the spirit of the whole team.

Go ahead and Bombard me now, I'm taking one for the team.

i thought saw too

but rumor has it he is more controlling then nate. I want to see someone that lets these guys play, and let dre and roy run the offensive. I heard Avery even called plays for Kidd

No one in the world can beat me at RBI baseball 3(nes).

Ouch! more controlling than nate!

I’m not sure, you could be right but i still think the end result would be much better.

hard to believe right?

I bet avery would not bench an ironman vet, who is has been willing to do whats asked even though it hasn’t made sense, without an explanation.

He did go with the young and inexperienced Devin Harris as Starting Point Guard, He goes with what works.

And his rotations are stable. (anybody remember the term “6th man”)? All we get is this “second unit” crap! Nobody can get into their rhythm. And nate? Nate couldn’t find the rhythm if he fell into it.

His Record says he is well qualified.

Can you make me understand why he is not. I’m willing to hear you out.

Avery inherited a good team

he also had a bonafide MVP candidate in Dirk. I love Brandon, but he is at least a few years away from MVP level.

Cloudy is Sergio. Makes other people look good, can’t score himself. -Cablinasian

Yeah and the Heat had a 3x NBA Champ/ Hof'er/ 12 time all star/ NBA MVP/ 3x Finals MVP and Wade

Who is also a future hall of famer, as is Riley, Payton and Mourning so what’s your point?

by blaze1 on Nov 30, 2009 12:51 AM PST reply actions

I consider the year the Heat won the championship one of the true flukes in recent memory. They probably wouldn’t have made it out of the first round in the West.

My opinions are facts.

And Dirk is a Bona Fide softie if you want the truth. David West proved that.

You’d be surprised how far heart can take you. Dirk had none. Is that Averys fault?

I'd take Byron Scott before I'd take Avery.

And i don’t want Scott either.

Patty Mills - PG of the future. Book it.

How long can you listen to Avery Johnson talk? Five minutes? Ten?

How long do you think the Blazer players could stand it?

exactly! I don't even care how good of a coach he is.

His voice makes me hate him.

...and that's a good thing

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
