Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Our old buddy Sergio had a career day in a nice win. I'm glad Sac is working out for him & hope it's the first of many nice box scores for the feisty PG.

If Miller wasn't on the Blazers, he'd probably have career days too

Nice for Sergio, after initially the Kings gave him less playing time than he got here

Hey, good for Serg!

I thought he’d do well with time, but he was just a little raw to play many minutes for this Blazer team. He’s in a good situation for his development down there in Sac-town; here’s hoping he continues to be great!

Sorry, I didn't click on that.

I just went over to the Kings blog—which is the only other one I belong to besides this one … and which I joined just to keep tabs on Sergio—and found the link above. Hope it’s accurate!

He had a TO the Boxscore doesn´t show.

He played a very good game, made his teammates better, kept the flow, made his shots and made it fun. I miss him. And I´m not a Marca guy ;)

More ammo against Nate's coaching approach

“For me, the important thing is when I get in he [Westphal] just lets me play.”

Funny thing is, most people tend to play better when it isn’t made abundantly clear that they will come out o the game the firs time they make a mistake.

Some words for Nate...

“That’s what happens when you have freedom to do your best and that’s what I asked when I came here,” Rodriguez said. “I feel very comfortable playing for coach.”

“When I get in the game I’m not scared to make things happen like I felt when I was in Portland.”

“That’s the most important thing when I play, coach lets me play and that’s all I ask,” Rodriguez said. “When I didn’t play a few games ago it was tough but I knew when I got in he would let me play.”

Rudy minutes FTW

refreshing

i always said it wasn’t nearly as much about the minutes, but the total lack of confidence Nate showed in him, over and over again. he’s had a tough year in Sac because Udrih is having an career-best, amazing season, but riding the pine clearly hasn’t destroyed his season. let’s hope he can keep it up.

Nate sucks at coaching point guards...

He just plugs em to the jumpshooter role regardless of their skills. Miller is suffering from the same problems…

RUDY > MJ

How can a coach have so little confidence in most guards, but

be so forgiving with a guard like Blake? The 3rd most minutes on the team have been given to Blake, who has played arguably worse than everybody not named Juwan Howard. Nate just makes no sense.

Based on my impressions and dim memories after watching all the games so far,

Blake has turned the ball over as much as anybody else (except, possibly, for Roy, who is looking like a regular butter-fingers out there this season), and more than a few of his turnovers have been lazy passes or truly ugly attempts to force the ball inside.

I’m not anti-Blake, by any means, but he is clearly off his game this year, and McMillan’s extreme patience with him is in stark contrast to the treatment given to certain other players.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
