Pritchard Will Do McMillian's Job For Him

Pritchard was a terrible coach, which in my mind, is one of the reasons that he refuses to question any coaching decisions. But we have come to a simple realization that Nate seems to have overlooked: Blake cannot play as many minutes as he has if we're going to win.

Blake isn't bad, and we won 54 games with him last year, but Miller needs to be able to take the reins if we're going to get past this funk. Players don't know how to deal with it right now.

Nate seems to be afraid to admit that, and so I believe we're fast approaching a point where Pritchard will have to make the tough choices that Nate is pretending isn't there: he's going to have to trade either Blake or Miller.

Unfortunately, it seems Nate is incapable of making this decision then sticking by it. Pritchard can't let half the season go by before McMillian get the cajones to do it, so It's my belief right now that KP will have to make that decision for him

When it happens, remember this: if KP is forced to make this happen, and he makes a bad trade, it was Nate who forced him into it by refusing to do his job as coach.

I think Nate is a great coach, and I certainly don't want to get rid of him. But this one thing is simply too difficult for Nate to wrap his mind around it seems.

How is Nate a Great coach?

What has he done to earn the title “Great”
Please let me know.

He does appear to have earned the respect

of a large number of people throughout the league. He was coach during multiple seasons where the team were considered “overachievers”. This is not the resume of a failure whatever your personal feelings toward him. Obviously it doesn’t automatically equate greatness either, but asserting that believing that is a ridiculous opinion is obtuse.

Here here!

Great coach, my bum! How does a good coach tell his team to just ‘figure it out’? Nate is the coach he needs to figure out how the team is going to incorparate Oden into the offense. Its not rocket science so why does Nate look so befuddled with this question?
Nate asked Pritchard for a veteran player and was o.k with Miller so how come he has no idea on how to use him? Nate has no cojones so he won’t be able to bench Blake(his security blanket), KP will have to trade one of them. I vote for Blake as he’s $hit. You want a better reason that it should be Blake that goes? Because if we trade Miller then Blake remains the starter, if that happens then we’d be stuck with Blake as the starter for as long as Nate remains our coach.

Agreed

That might have cost him his job right there. And it certainly pushed me over the fence.

Really!

Right after the Utah loss, I was ranting that I was tired of all the hand holding Nate was doing, and he should just tell the team, “Either figure it out and be winners or don’t, and we can get a lottery pick in the draft next year.” I know that sounds overly harsh and ridiculous to some, but this team needs to have the training wheels taken off. They are either big boys able to compete in this league, or they aren’t.

As fans, we can blame the coach all we want, but the team has to perform to win. They aren’t. A 31-2 run by Memphis!!!! A high school team could have played at a higher level. Utah’s 3rd string center destroyed us on the boards. Imagine if he had made more than 20% of his FT’s. Really? Greg, Joel, and LMA can’t out rebound the Pillsbury Dough Boy. They should be ashamed of themselves. Somebody step up. Somebody take charge and motivate this team. Based on his meandering interviews, it’s not going to be Brandon. Seriously, this is the guy who rips everyone a new one over a lazy practice but doesn’t get worked up over two absolutely abysmal games. Of course, Nate called him out. It’s about time!!!!! Brandon doesn’t get a pass because he is our superstar (that’s LeBron in Cleveland). He should be held to a higher standard. And the whining about Andre has got to stop. He is 10 times the player Blake could ever hope to be. Brandon should embrace Andre like Kobe embraced Pau Gasol. Andre makes the team better. Much better.

Figure it out. Adapt. Persevere. That’s what winners do.

go look up hinrich's stats right now

a bag of donuts would get us hinrich right now i’m not sure that would be a good deal for us.

The regular season is for getting to the playoffs and for learning to play together

Right now, we are doing both.

If McMillan is fired he will probably be the first time a coach has been fired when the team has a winning percentage over .600.

Relax. Wait until January to start getting worried.

It'll be too late to make a change

by then. We could be out of the Playoff race AND still have a team that is confused on the court.

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.
