If Dave is right... a Truehoop blog convo
Yesterday Dave was graciously giving ideas for the Truehoop wanted sign on ESPN. He mentioned that blogging is like movies rather than restaurants. With a restaurant you eat once and are done. A good movie just makes you want to watch more movies. Thus, he encouraged all Bedgers to engage the idea of trying for a Truehoop blog.
Since BE is a great blog and seems to be, by many accounts, a superior experience. It would stand to reason that anyone who would venture another blog (though keeping Dave’s metaphor in mind) would do well to take two steps.
First, identify what BE does that is so great. To emulate but also…
Second, identify what niche someone could play in the Blazer blog experience.
I don’t have much experience with this but I would love to see a conversation started on what a potential complementary blog could look like. Let’s kick around what BE does well and what niche another blog could meet.
PS I value true humility as a high virtue. I think I saw some in Dave’s treatment of this subject.

Blazer successful blogs run by it’s die hard community. One thing about blazersedge/sbnation that is kind of limited is how content from a very active community is placed and it’s easy to miss some amazing posts.
I’d like to see another blog run by some of the great contributors of beedge because in my honest opinion there is a lot of talent/interesting conversation/statistical/information that comes up that you don’t see on any other blog.
If there is another blog it needs to have the ability for the main blog crew to create their consistent content and for the users to be a part and manage it to being one big blog (of course giving everyone the option to post main news would resort into huge bias and an overall mess). I have some ideas on a concept for a blog that uses a system set up that gives everyone the ability to contribute and also maintaining a friendly connection with all the other blazer blogs through RSS. I’ve been building community blogs/websites for a long time and would love to be a part of this, I’ve actually sent an e-mail already with this exact idea but it would require the efforts from some people of beedge.
I think it’s also a really good idea to have another blog that is community ran because it would only increase blazer mania and keep online users coming to all the blogs. I think having a one man show (like beyondbowie) wont really take off much because you have the holy one (blazersedge) and beating direct content like Dave and Ben just… would be very hard to top.
The main thing is it needs to be a more interactive based blog and it being completely community ran would make it different than blazersedge which would actually draw people. Honestly I would love to help with bringing a very well maintained blog and would love to participate with content myself (anyone would with the idea).
Just my 2 cents but gathering people who are fully willing to do this would be the hard part.

Another thing to touch on is credibility.
When a blog provides sufficient consistent content that is for the most part accurate and non-bias it starts to get a level of credibility. The early days of blazersedge it started out like any other blog but as time went on you see the content here being used as a source, that’s a sign when you know things are going right (at the time it was also a new concept providing an amazing amount of blog information when there weren’t that many established out at the time.)
How many times have you seen some of the great fanposts be used as a source? It never happens because it’s subject to a right hand side as “fanposts” and doesn’t seem like the true content of the site (which essentially it’s not). However, the content that is provided by “fanposts” are some of the most interesting parts of this blog and easily could also be used in another blog as the main content (which any user/blogger could simply post). It sounds like a complex idea but sometimes it seems like a lot of the fan content is its own blog here and makes sense in its own deserving credibility and should be used as a source (for the most part, like I said not everything posted here is brilliant).
Blazersedge is it’s own thing and will always (as long as the blazers are relevant) be. Making another blog posting pre game, post game and BREAKING news without the full options of a community effort would result in how BeyondBowie ended up.

for me the community here is what keeps me coming back

simple
get dave and ben to get the available truehoop slot, and post the most interesting and informative posts from BE there.
that way BE still retains its culture, and the rest of the truehoop network still sees some of the great posts and articles. its win/win
i think there is some kinda conflicts of interest if you did that
