Quick: Bonzi Wells Apologizes
Jason Quick of The Oregonian continues his profile series of his Top 40 Blazers. Bonzi Wells grabs the headlines from this group by apologizing to Portland. I enjoyed the Danny Ainge profile as well. Find all 5 of them here. Happy Thanksgiving.

After reading that, wow. Maybe Bonzi’s matured, maybe he knows how to work the media, I don’t really care. I’m glad to read it and it’s hard to have hard feelings when someone asks for forgiveness candidly.

Bonzi wasn't the root of the problem.
He was just a byproduct. And everyone who loved him was collateral damage. There are players and staff that did far greater damage.
Though it did seem to me that he fell very hard from grace once he was traded. Never really looked like the same player.

Nice read
I never strongly disliked Bonzi the way I did patterson, woods, and miles.

I enjoyed the Danny Ainge profile as well.
Especially the part about Clyde’s bald spot.
Ainge had a minor heart attack and he’s one year older than me? I better go hit the exercise bike before eating turkey
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!

Ainge ...
“Then all of the sudden it gets personal, but it’s still fun. We’re talking about wives, religion … And I made a comment about Clyde’s bald spot,” Ainge said. “The plane went silent. I found there is one thing you can’t talk about on the Blazers, and that’s Clyde’s bald spot. The funny thing is, Clyde never seemed to mind. There must have been some sort of incident before I got there.”
LOL … lol … el-oh-el
Too funny.

OK ... so Bonzi's not a monster, but I think he is still in denial somewhat.
He says he would “never say something like that,” when what he means is, “I’m sorry to be so self-centered as to have said something like that.” It’s almost as if he is claiming he was misquoted. I’m sure it was just his manner of speech, but that’s how it sounds.
Forgive and forget, I guess so.
The comments below the article kind of tell the whole story.
Half still want to boil him for being lazy and self-centered.
Half praise his skills.

He was butthurt about getting booed and didn't mean what he said.
I can understand that—we’ve all been drunk. I am drunk.
Now I feel better.
Keep your expectations low and you won't be disappointed.

I never hated Bonzi (though I disliked him)
But this article and his apology reminded me that he used to say “the right thing” every fall. How many times did he utter the “turning a new leaf” comment?

Damn. Now I have to move Bonzi Wells to the bottom of my most hated Jailblazers.

Hey Thanks
Standard apology time is generally 5-6 years post-incident. Stand up guy if you ask me!

Thanks Bonzi
Very classy. I never really got that down on you — although that comment about the fans did bug me at the time.
