Do you know some of those Lincoln parents?
I do, I grew up in that neighborhood. Bunch of them are real type A folks with way way too much $ who think their kids must be awesome for them to be successful as parents.

Grade A or AHole?
The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.

Jack in the Box
is much more popular among DUI’s now-a-days with there all day selection of breakfast foods. even if a drunk person passes out they still have breakfast whenever they wake up.

I'm torn.
Obviously DUI is always wrong. He deserved to be arrested for it etc etc
But it’s pretty troubling that the cops pulled him over in the first place if there apparently wasn’t any traffic violations and the only cause they had was someone who had financial interest in seeing Adelman pulled over/arrested.
The ACLU in me wants to see him acquitted (and then arrested for something else, or have karma get him back).

"Hey Dad...
Tell me again about your high school basketball career!"
“Well, Little Johnny, I averaged 3 points a game, but I’ll always be known as the player who’s dad had a PI tail my coach for a month. So I guess I’ll go down in Lincoln High history!”
“Cool, dad. You’re much better known than all those kids who played more but no one remembers now that they’re grown up and you all have real jobs.”
“And you, Little Johnny will be famous, too. I learned from old Pop, and I’m gonna do one better. I’ll have surveillance not just on your coaches (and teachers), but all the refs, too. You’ll be All State for sure, (if the voters don’t want to be tailed!).”
“Thanks, Dad. But just remember, if you don’t provide all these things for me—I’ll be watching and gathering evidence against you!”
“That’s my boy!”
Hilarious
“We have a lot of rich, arrogant people in this case,” Layne said, “and they’re not all on my client list.”
That could be both
the saddest and funniest quote of the year.
This is kind of a dangerous case. Anyone remember the case of Claus Von Bulow? There was a movie, " Reversal of Fortune" starring Jeremy Irons as Von Bulow ( who won an academy award for the role ). It is a great movie.
Von Bulow basically killed his wife ( Sonny Von Bulow ) by giving her an insulin injection to get her wealth ( these people are the super super rich ). The problem is, Sonny’s children, who hated Claus, hired a private investigator to work the crime scene and collect evidence before the police got there. That evidence collected by the P.I. was used in the case.
The now famous lawyer Alan Dershowitz ( famous for defending OJ with Cochran ) heard about the case and rallied to Von Bulow. Dershowitz was infuriated that these rich aristocrats hired a P.I. to collect evidence, and thought this set a dangerous precedent for rich people everywhere to hire P.I.’s, circumvent police and the traditional legal system, and create their own form of justice.
Dershowitz was certain that Claus had in fact killed Sonny, but he thought that the precedent set by a conviction of Von Bulow would be far worse than one guilty man walking for murder. After this conviction, he thought, rich people everywhere would no longer call the police, but P.I.‘s to do their work for them. Dershowitz unleashed an entire law class from his university ( he was also a law professor ), and a team of lawyers to make sure Claus walked, and walk he did. The man probably murdered her, and got away with it and got her millions. But I definitely agree with Dershowitz’s reasons for taking this case and for fighting it so hard. The evidence put forth by the prosecution was not collected by police but by P.I.’s, and by convicting Von Bulow, the court would have essentially said, any evidence is good evidence, no matter who produced it.
This case of Adelman’s DUI reminds me of Von Bulow’s quite a bit. Would the police have pulled him over if he was not being followed? Is this harassment? I’m not advocating either way, a DUI is a DUI, but it is worth discussing. I just don’t trust P.I.s very much. I know a few, and they are not of the moral character that most police are. This case asks difficult questions.
