While I agree our D is much improved so far this season

We have also played the weakest starting schedule of any team in the NBA. I expect that it will continue to improve over the season, but I think this team will likely end up in the 6-10 range for defenses overall for the season. Batum coming back healthy and playing well could improve that, but our perimeter D still leaves much to be desired. Teams with a legit big man to guard Greg and LaMarcus are going to cause us a lot of problems until the perimeter defenders are more consistent in funneling guys to the right spots on the floor.

What are you impressions of Roy?
"He's just a very, very good basketball player. Very smart. Very heady. He can do a little bit of everything on the court. As coaches, when we scout Portland we kind of put him in the same category as Kobe (Bryant), LeBron (James), Dwyane Wade. We treat him the same. He's that good."

Agreed.

It’s still nice to look at all the pretty numbers, though.

And while I think our overall defensive numbers will drop, I’m optimistic that the individual numbers being put up by Greg, Joel, Rudy, etc, will stay at or near the top of the league.

Yup

Here is the defensive efficiency measure, and it still says we’re second

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
