What do you guys think of Canzano/Quick's coverage of the Blazers these days?
I listen/read both of them, and I have done so for a while, but since they have joined 95.5 they seem to have changed their tune. They both seem to be a lot less willing to be critical of anything Blazers related. I remember how in the past, they both used to be quite critical and opinionated, especially when the Blazers made any mistakes. Is it just my opinion, or do you guys have the same feeling? Is this site one of the only few places where we can still get unbiased opinions?
Today, Quick came on radio several times, and he seemed to be so unwilling to say anything critical of the Blazer's current situation.

Maybe
They just got tired of the ridiculously rabid fan base bashing/berating them constantly for being critical of the Blazers.

Jason quick is a tool
He used to be more balanced and now is just a tool for Nate and Brandon to use as the see fit. I think Canzano is more balanced and will ask the hard questions.
I felt the same way listening to Quick
He just seems to he a tool for nate and roy, but I guess that’s part of his job.
Mostly objective
mostly interesting
sometimes amusing
Almost never outrageous or unfair
Today Jason was interviewed by Wheels this afternoon
and he said that Portland will need to make a deal in the coming months to shore up the backup PF position…Juwan is not the answer
players that could potentially be dealt…a combination of Martell, Bayless, Rudy, Travis?
no mention of Blake, which comes as no surprise
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
FWIW, Wheels mentioned Rudy at the end
Quick did not

and if Jason ever does "guess right"
I don’t think you or cab would remember, after a week had passed

Ben and MB ,
are the only people I read these days.

Canzano is manipulative and Quick is biased
Canzano is all about ratings, in other words he’ll come up with whatever topic he thinks can rile up his listeners/readers in order to boost his profile.
I do appreciate Quick’s behind the scenes stuff, but I think from time to time Quick comes off as overprotective and petty. I’ve actually come to prefer Freeman and Brian Smith from the Columbian.
That said I can tolerate both in small doses.

Very well put and on the mark.

I listen to the BFT on my way home from work
I won’t lie. About 3 times a week I even make it my entire 40 min commute without changing it to. I don’t think Canzano is horrible, just very transparent. He doesn’t even pretend to pretend. Dude reminds me totally of Colin Cowherd when he was here (haven’t listened to Cowherd since he left so no clue what he’s like now but I imagine more of the same)
I liked Quick better when he wasn’t getting along with the front office.

Canzano?
People still read his crap?
I stopped a while ago and haven’t gone back. He likes to make people cry or go on a rampage and it’s not how I prefer to be a fan. He’s a flag in the wind and so are a lot of fans on this site so he gets a nice audience.
Championship teams are not made overnight. It’s something that’s built upon. It’s recognizing long term goals and ignoring short term setbacks. Canzano is all about the moment which is detrimental to building anything long term because those short term set backs are suddenly mountains when they should just be mole hills. Because they’re mountains he attempts to get people to forget about that long term vision and fix that mole hill mountain and ignore what that fix might do to the long term goal.
Quick… man, I’ve really become disappointed in him. I used to seek him out as preferred reading but he really created some drama where drama didn’t exist (at least not in a manner that needed to be shared with teh public). I don’t know if he as internal pressures to create drama/print or if he became too close and lost some of the neutrality that made him so good (in my opinion).
I still read quick but I agree that Freeman and Brian Smith is more a fav outside of BE. I no longer hit up Olive right after BE like I used to.
"Fernandez, to my eyes, is the Blazer who walks that walk most comfortably. A lot of Portland's fans (egged on, dare I say, by their local broadcasters) lament things like how Ron Artest or Yao Ming get to hit Brandon Roy's arms.
But I suspect Fernandez sees all that and thinks: We get to hit arms! Cool!"

I am appreciative that Canzano
keeps the Comcast issue alive. Seems he’s the only one that has the courage to stand up for the oppressed!
is that sarcasm?
he doesn’t stand up for or against the oppressed. He stands up for drama and ratings and whatever is the best button to push for outrage.

Quick seems like the White House Press Secretary
in other words, like he’s on the Blazer payroll.
Doesn’t seem like the Portland media is willing to take it’s only-game-in-town to task right now. I’m sure they did back in the jailblazer era (I wasn’t around here then) but since the resurgence, just seems like everyone coddles Nate and BRoy too much.
I’d love to see some more critical (yet constructive) articles, tougher questions in interviews, etc…
I enjoy both
Each of them brings an interesting perspective. Prior to the Bulls game this site was filled with hate far worse than you’ll ever get from those two.
I’ll never understand why people are so offended
