Maurice Lucas, a Trail Blazers legend and current assistant coach, has been in a local hospital for weeks after learning that cancer has returned to his body less than seven months after he underwent surgery to remove bladder cancer.

Wow
That’s terrible. I figured he wasn’t totally back to full strength, but this is just a kick in the gut. I’m pulling for you Luke, get well.

Mo Lucas is a great man beyond what he did during his playing days!
His health is something that really matters! Get well Luke!
Whether your preference is watching or playing, basketball is a TEAM game.

I'm not even sure if he's joking to be honest but it's a perfectly acceptable comment given this blog is largely related to the basketball rather than human interest stories.
Granted, the question being asked somewhere else would have been more sensitive but starting a fanpost would just add to the clutter unnecessarily.

The Mike's mentioned that everyone was missing Maurice during, I believe,
the last home game and I wondered then if something was up. My brother had bladder cancer and fought it for several years having at least 5 or 6 or more surgeries, I’ve lost count, and being quite ill a lot of the time. Now he’s cancer free and has been for at least 2 years so I feel confidant that Luke can beat it too. We’re all sending good thoughts your way Luke. Stay optimistic and remember how much you’re loved around here.
"Aneurysm".
When Outlaw wins a game on a last-second shot, it’s called an "annthefaneurysm". QualityPie
I remember
walking into a Plaid Pantry in the late seventies and seeing the latest SPORTS ILLUSTRATED with Maurice Lucas on the cover. The notation for him read “The Enforcer”. He was the badest man in the NBA.
Hopefully the day will come soon that a cure is found for Cancer. It took my mother.

Best wishes Luke
sad news for sure. Lucas never backed down from a challenge and his customary elbow to the chest of each opponent reflected his toughness. Keep your dukes up buddy, we all got your back.

Please be well, Luke!
