What is wrong with being a homer?
It sure beats the back biting and sniveling that more and more Blazer fans are partaking in these days. I can see if we had the Twolves record, but come on already! Maybe Mike Rice and I will start a site were we can hate on all other teams/players and love the Blazers. Don'tget me wrong; I love the stats and reading the objectionable blogs, but enough already with the arm chair sports psychology and just enjoy the team. Lets unite against our common enemy: "the association". Lets count the number of times Barkley says "jump shooting team" and dream of Oden dunking on his crown. Together we can overcome the doubt and frustration with a little homer"ing". Can I get some REC here! Can I get some REC!
P.S. Let Miller come off the bench, maybe he will finally be a winner. He has made it as far in the playoffs as Blake, Roy, Oden.....

As an invertebrate Blazer homer
I understand where you’re coming from.
However, people generally get punished for blatantly seeking recs. That said, I do believe you don’t want the recs for yourself, just for your cause. If there were some way to give you a provisional rec, I’d do so. Maybe this is something to bring up at the next sys admin meeting …
Your closing paragraph is problematic. Does a true homer ever deign to question the coach’s wisdom? I don’t think so. If Nate thinks Dre should start, then that is obviously for the best. We need to stick to what we do best — cheering on the Blazers.
Invertebrate? Come on, CatMan2, grow a spine.
I love Charles Schulz’s drawing of the boneless cat. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/hS1ha-5IY1w/Svn2b1_xdI/AAAAAAAAEZg/UIDnKxd_fCE/s1600-h/IMG_9334a.jpg – Elgin
Travis Outlaw, the Funnel Cake of the Blazers
I think being a homer is the definition of being a fan.
Or at least it used to be. GO BLAZERS!!! 2009-10 NBA CHAMPS!!!!
....formerly GonzoFan. Now, this has been a message from "The People's Alliance to Continue to Encourage Greg Oden on his Path to Dominance"

Part of being a good fan,
is not sticking your head in the sand. Behavior like that reduces the probability of success for any endeavor.
Whether your preference is watching or playing, basketball is a TEAM game.
Actually, no
The only time your fandom really impacts the team is at games. Being a good fan (at the RG) means cheering even when things aren’t going well. Sticking your head in the sand and being a homer is always better in this case.
In private or in message boards… it never matters.

Wrong for this reason:
The main time your fandom impacts your team is when you are spending money on them & their sponsers.
Going to a game is probably the biggest bang the Blazers will get for your buck.

It's not like anyone cares about opinions on here except other BEdgers.
levelhed is right. The only things one can do is choose to cheer or not and go to the games or not. That’s really the only way to affect the team. Well, I suppose that criticizing players in the forums is one way to affect players, but this is negative for the most part. (See Travis Outlaw: he believes that fans hate him. Wouldn’t be surprised if Blake is like-minded.) A boycott would be extreme given that we have a fairly decent team.
Keep your expectations low and you won't be disappointed.
Homers are failures at being right all the time!

This post is part of the emerging meme of "backlash" posts
The too-negatives felt superior to the too-positives who now feel better than the too-negatives (the backlash, or thirdlash, or sidelash, whatever).
Who knows what thrilling outcome awaits us all!
Think I’ll go out to watch the game so I’m not tempted to Bedge for a couple of hours.

Nothing wrong with being a dedicated fan.
It’s been a particularly trying day here on BEdge. The opinions I have read about Brandon Roy have disturbed me. I have really started to wonder if people contribute their opinions to this site because they love the Blazers or because they love seeing their own ideas in print.
I love the Blazers – from Brandon to Greg, Juwon to Patty Mills. These are the 15 guys who represent this city on the court (and on the bench), and I’ve got their back every hour of the day and every day of the year. Can you hearing me screaming from section 315?
The rabid fan base is one of the main reasons the Blazers are special. That fan base is starting to sour, and it feels like Bedgers are leading the charge. That can’t be right, can it? Are the people who spend every day keeping up-to-date on Blazers news and who spend a significant amount of their day posting their opinions really turning on the team? It sure feels like it.
“Trade Brandon.” “Put Andre in the starting lineup and tell Brandon to deal with it.” “Brandon is arrogant.” “Brandon is a prima donna.” Is this really the path the fan base is going down? I want no part of it.
Win or lose, I will cheer on this team to the end. They have gone from 21 to 54 wins in four years. They have built a contender from the ground up. They have played with passion and desire. They have earned my respect and my adoration.
GO BLAZERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

REC. Yeah, the personal attacks on Roy and the rest of the players are lame.
For the last couple years, he’s proven that he’s about the most unselfish superstar in the league. We haven’t seen any evidence that he’s a bad guy, but people are starting to attack his character.
I personally think the team is fairly good, albeit overrated by fans. What gets me is the outright malice that some fans exhibit toward the players and coach. Homerism comes into play there insofar as they believe that one guy or another playing minutes is the only thing holding back the Blazers’ dynasty, or it’s Nate, etc. It comes from guys overrating players’ talent.
Keep your expectations low and you won't be disappointed.
I'm a homer. And I admit it.
I love Mike Rice, Oden get’s jobed by the refs, Roy does not get as many calls an an all-star should, the Rose Garden is the BEST arena, and Bayless should get more minutes.
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.
