How the Blazers Get LeBron James!
Everybody knows that we have NO chance to get King James in the Free Agent Sweepstakes of 2010. Or do they?
KP is stocking up on expensive talent. People are saying that KP has this team loaded with starter quality backups at every position but PF. Some of that talent just resigned for a ton, and some will be restricted free agents in 2010.
Let's say James doesn't win the championship this season. If I am the Cavaliers, do I want James to walk and get nothing? Or do I want to do a sign and trade with a franchise out West? Hmm ... let's think about that.
Mix and match the contracts as you like. Throw in one from Column A and two from Column B and you got yourself a deal. If we take one of their deadwood guys, all the better if you're Cleveland.

I doubt it.
It would have to be a sign and trade, so wouldn’t Lebron just be better off going to the Nets? If they get a high draft pick (which they should) then they would probably have more talent than the Blazers anyway. Lopez is better than Aldridge. Harris is a legit all-star PG. Lee is a terrific role player. John Wall is a strong possibility.
There is a chance the the Nets could have more young talent than the Blazers next season, even without Lebron. If he goes anywhere, he’s probably going to Brooklyn.

love ya, but adding John wall to the nets does not make them even close to as stacked as we are. Throw away Oden or LMA and we’re still a good as them IMO. Plus Devin + Wall = conflict….would need to deal someone. And that’s assuming Nets get 1st pick, when they could slide a few and get not much of anything.
It’ll come down to $$$ for LeBron (salary and marketing potential), not which team is more ‘stacked’.

You misunderstand me.
The Cavs aren’t going to give Lebron away for nothing. The Blazers would have to give up more than just Aldridge and AT THAT POINT the Blazers are not going to be more talented than the Nets. Wall and Harris can both play off the ball fairly well, and Harris can defend shooting guards just fine. Even if they didn’t work, trading a top three pick can land you a lot of talent.
Not to mention that a lot of our young talent is at the SF position, which conflicts with Lebron. The Nets are conspicuously thin at that spot. Besides, hasn’t it been decided that Roy can’t share the ball? There’s only one ball? Two fists or something like that? Nate would probably just piss Lebron off by making him come off the bench.

KP will use the first MLE (yay!) of his career to get or retain a mid-level free agent, maybe re-sign Joel and call it a summer
Ceterum censeo Lakers esse delendam
He used the MLE to sign Blake, I believe
He’ll retain Blake and Joel (if Joel opts out), and try to keep Travis. If we lose Travis, he’ll use the MLE to sign a better backup PF than Juwan, perhaps to bring Freeland over.

It's Lebron's choice and he won't choose Portland
Even if both Cleveland and Portland wanted to do this, Lebron could and would veto it. You can’t sign and trade a guy unless he’s willing to sign. I just don’t see Lebron wanting to move from one small-market town (his home town) to another small-market town way out on the West Coast.

Have James dominate with the second unit.
It’s working with Miller.
My favorite teams are the Blazers and any team that is playing the Lakers.

Miller says he does not want Roy in his second unit!!!
Whether your preference is watching or playing, basketball is a TEAM game.
Note: Labron says he won't sign unless Blake starts.

Here's how the Blazers (or Brandon, at least) can get Lebron James.
Brandon: Hey, ‘bron, what’s that on your nose?
James: Huh? What do you mean?
Brandon: Right … there!
James: Ow! What the hey!
Brandon: Ha ha! See you next time out.
