Oden True Shooting Percentage:

90.4%. Wonder how often someone gets 24 points with that kind of efficiency.

Nope

Shaq doesn’t go 10 for 12 from the FT line and score 24 points on 8 shots. That’s 3 points each time he shot!

So seriously

What are Oden’s chances of getting in the All Star game?

I say pretty good so far, Nene is probably the most deserving and most annoyingly (if that’s a word) Amare is on the ballot as a center, but I think its possible for him to sneek in

I think Nene should be 1st with Oden bumping Bynum out for 2nd,but realistic thinking, not sure if that would happen unless Oden gets up to averaging 15+pts, 12+rebs every game

"Sometimes I catch myself watching him and he's shooting floaters all-net. And just to watch how he's talking trash. I loved it. I loved every minute of it. Rudy's a competitor." - Brandon Roy

by Trail Ducker on Nov 23, 2009 10:55 PM PST up reply actions

Bynum will be a 1st team

He’s a Laker and he’s putting up 20/12/2 on decent efficiency. I’m not going to go as far as Timbo and put him way aboce Oden’s level but offensively he is more developed and thats what seems to count for All-Star votes.

Oden over Nene is a possibility if he keeps up the same level of play we have seen for the last 3 games and is likely if he starts getting more minutes due to killing the 2 fouls in the 1st half rule.

Good Point

I guess I didn’t realize Bynum’s numbers were that good

a little Laker haterism and Blazer homerism??

Possibly

very low

A) Amare will get fanvoted in. It’s a mortal lock. Done deal
B) Bynum will get the backup nod if he continues his current pace because he plays for the champs in a big media market
C) if Bynum falters, the coaches very well will give the backup C spot to someone like Gasol, enabling them to take an extra forward.
D) Oden’s raw per game averages will continue to suffer because of
    1) our slow pace,
    2) his foul trouble,
    3) the fact that even when he’s not in foul trouble and has his game rolling, he still only play 26 minutes because we are up 20

Oden will make his allstar debut in February 2011

How did you guys win that?

There could be nitpicking, but simply amazing performances by all of Greg, LA, Rudy and Andre. No need to sully those.

with only 19 minutes and two fouls. Just sayin.
Great game all around. Good to see them hold it together for four quarters on a decent team.

by Jeffe Portland on Nov 23, 2009 9:32 PM PST reply actions

Rudy and Dre are in tough spots

Both of those guys are awesome, and together they are one heck of a backcourt. But Rudy plays the same position as Roy, and Roy has made it painfully clear that he is comfortable with Blake running with him. Nate is in a tough spot as far as minutes go on this one.

by blazeraddict on Nov 23, 2009 9:38 PM PST up reply actions

Rudy probably would've had more minutes

But he got two quick fouls and Nate yanked him for the rest of the half. He’s probably going to get whatever minutes Brandon doesn’t play as well as Martell’s. Course, when Nic comes back that will change but then there will be the whole start Martell or Nic question also. I’m not sure what Nate will be able to do about Miller though … we’ll have to see how that all pans out. Unfortunately for him if Brandon feels better with Steve then that’s the way it goes … maybe Miller is the better point guard overall but you can’t make something work if it’s not gonna.

Seriously this is the ideal game for our team

Look at Miller, Oden, Aldridge, and Roy.

They all shared the boy equally. Our four best offensive players got their touches. That’s what we need.

The Kings have the best bench I’ve seen. There are easily 14 guys on this team good enough for every bench in the league. Now if we could only get some starters, I’d totally jizz in my pants.

Hinrich hasn't been good, statistically, this season

Last I looked, he was shooting 35% from three and 69% from the line.

I am sure his defense has still been good, but I’d wager a bet he’d be getting the Blake hate if we got him too.

MIller

LA
Oden

by Coastie07 on Nov 23, 2009 9:36 PM PST reply actions

you have to balance it out

you need miller rudy cunningham, pryzbilla and hopefully travis comming off the bench to give that spark offensivly, if you put them all in the starting line up. who initiates the offense off the bench?

Trade for Luis Amundson!!Do it KP!!

by CroRupt on Nov 23, 2009 9:37 PM PST up reply actions

Maybe with Rudy, but...

you sacrifice too much by not starting Miller. He just makes everyone outside of Roy so much better, especially Oden and LA. And please believe that a championship will run through Oden/LA before Roy.

by Coastie07 on Nov 23, 2009 9:40 PM PST up reply actions

but the key is roy....

Roy was ballin today, and with blake sittin on the corner, he can make that shot when hes open.

Trade for Luis Amundson!!Do it KP!!

by CroRupt on Nov 23, 2009 9:41 PM PST up reply actions

The way Roy operates is he drives and shoots or drives and dishes to man in the corner

Blake just fits way better than Miller. I agree that Miller is better than Blake individually, but as a unit Blake is better with the starters while Miller fits better with the 2nd unit.

"Rudy is not everyday a shooter," Fernandez said. "He's defense. He's passes. He's assists."

by jebuz on Nov 23, 2009 9:45 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah, because Roy doesn't move without the ball.

Maybe Roy should learn how. The problem is the team isn’t just Roy and as you can see, Oden and LA can be just as important, if not more. Miller helps them a lot more than he hurts Roy is my point.

by Coastie07 on Nov 23, 2009 10:08 PM PST up reply actions

untrue

just because Roy prefers to operate with the ball in his hands does not mean he fails to move without the ball.

his first basket of the night was a j off a screen assisted by Blake.

Dre and Rudy needs to be playing with Greg as much as possible. NBA offense is so much easier when you have a dominant big man that can pass the ball.

So someone explain to me

Why people who pay for either regular league pass, or LPBB, don’t get to watch a game on NBATV?

So stupid… I missed most of a great game because of it.

by Mortimer on Nov 23, 2009 9:42 PM PST reply actions

That ain't why

LPBB shows all comcast games normally. It wasn’t available online because it was on NBAtv, BUT you can only get nba TV if you buy league pass. And for whatever reason they don’t let the online league pass subscribers watch the damn game.

by Mortimer on Nov 23, 2009 9:47 PM PST up reply actions

Comcast has NBA TV on their digital classic tier, LP is not required.

Some providers require you to buy a sports tier. Most of them will give you NBA TV for free as part of LP if you don’t get the sports tier.

by Timmay! on Nov 23, 2009 9:49 PM PST up reply actions

yeah, its comcast

Comcast SN had the game, but since NBATV picked it up as well, Comcast had blackout rights to make you watch it on CSN instead.

Greg was asked who was second in the league in field goal percentage.

He didn’t know, when he found out it was him he said he wasn’t too focused on it and that free-throw percentage was what he was trying to work on. Smart guy.

He says the Noah facial fired him up and made him want to go after them, that got through to the whole team.

Talks about wanting to hit the Bulls in the second half, acknowledging the point swings occurring recently when they come out for the second half.

Says he has to get lighter on his feet and that the refs will give the fouls to the little guys if they jump into him. Focus on keeping his arms up.

Also, funny moments, light mood. The NBA guys love him.

If you can find it on NBA.com tomorrow, watch it.

I wouldn't anoint B Roy coach/GM of the year for this

Miller and Rudy did a much better job of setting up/using GO than Blake and Roy. Now of course, Roy needs to be out there. And Rudy, as much as I love his game, does not have the handle to play PG – yet. If Miller closes, than fine, let’s make him Ginobli and bring him off the bench even though he’s better than Blake so Roy can start fast. But we saw tonight what Greg can do, and we’re going to need that when it’s crunch time.

When you take a step back and look at things in perspective,

we’re like attention junkies, for the blazers. What I mean is, we are addicted to reading things about the blazers, and the more distant the author to the team, (IE another team’s blogger), the more excited we are about reading the article. Like we get more juiced up for a Laker blogger writing about the blazers than JQuick writing about the blazers (unless it’s part of the locker room series).

But after 16 games, we are tied for the most wins in the NBA (11), and are second in point differential by a fairly wide margin. That’s nothing to sniff at.

Here's my observation

It seems we have our hardest games against older teams, but teams-like the Bulls- that rely on younger talent we can dominate. I have no proof to back this up. If this is true It makes the future look very bright for this club.

Or does this game make this article from a few days back seem even funnier and more off base?

Or even this one? Oden can’t handle physical players??? Noah has been a pretty physical player so far this year.

Matchup with Lopez should be interesting…

At this point, what the Blazers want most is rebounding. That was an alarming weakness last season, when Oden averaged seven a night. He’s more active on the glass now, but the increased contact also has resulted in foul trouble. By comparison, Przybilla grabs just as many rebounds per minute.

Verizon FIOS

If you can get it in your area I highly recommend it. Has NBA TV and Comcast sports free. No special tiers or programing packages or league pass. And you don’t have to use the evil Comcast itself. Haven’t missed a blazer game in 2 yrs unless they weren’t televised at all (maybe 4 or 5 of those). Also usually catch a game most nights of the week on NBA TV. Its their just like NFL, MLB and NHL networks. Check it out.

Martell

The thing I liked and noticed was that Martell does a good job of entering the ball into LA on the low post. Some times the team has not done that effectively.

Martells length seems to help, compared to the three guard lineup. Too bad he didn’t play more but others need minutes also!

by behindpaul on Nov 23, 2009 10:53 PM PST reply actions

Blazers looked good running the offense through the post

LMA and Oden can pass the ball. It doesn’t work every game (some games need a guard-predicated offense), but it sure works good when the opponent plays behind the bigs and the wings/guards cut and/or shoot well.

Now, if they can learn to compensate for teams that front the bigs….

I'm being wishwashy on nate

He is doing things that irritate me while simaltaneously doing other things that I want done like running Cunningham instead of Howard and throwing in bayless for some crazy energy dunks…I think I’m getting behind the Miller running the second unit, especially with the rookies in, because they love to run and Miller loves to break. I’m still somewhat reluctant on that but I do see it now.

I want to see B-Roy’s minutes cut by about 5…just because I don’t want him getting injured, he’s out there way too much. I like too see Oden get 30 minutes, but he might not be up to that yet, and man he was looking fresh in the second half, so I’m reluctantly seeing that argument as well. Centers take a lot of abuse.

The blake thing is still irritating, but I think Roy is as much as fault on that as Nate…

I actually am feeling some sympathy for Nate on that one
The blake thing is still irritating, but I think Roy is as much as fault on that as Nate…

What do Paul Westhead (Lakers) and Doug Collins (Bulls) have in common? Both were head coaches of good young teams who were fired before the championships started rolling in because they ticked off the superstars (Magic and MJ respectively). If Nate is going to do anything that could make B Roy bristle, he needs to handle it with a scalpel, not a jackhammer, because I have no doubt that KP/PA would drop Nate quickly if Roy gave the word. Not going all conspiracy theory, but Nate was pretty psyched when Miller came on board. Brandon and Dre looked good together tonight, so hopefully this develops organically.

That was the first truly satisfying win of the season for me.

It’s the first time our guys seemed to really click. Everyone was sharing the ball, and staying active on defense. Andre seemed like he hasn’t missed a beat after being relegated, which is great to see. He is such a nice player to have, getting to the rack and drawing fouls.

Twin towers indeed. Let’s hope this is just a preview. That is all I have to say about that.
