blazers hidden jewel
shhhhh
"shaq and zach randolph have the same trainer... "
best one liner i ever heard.
Joke is that
Nate and Brandon only ever want Steve Blake to start.
And Koponen is not named Steve Blake.
….unless you’re being sarcastic.

Geez maybe if Andre Miller would have taken 30 minutes a day over his decade long NBA career to practice 3's he'd have the one skill he needs to start for the Blazers.
Oh and by the way, Koponen is a good enough shooter that he could one day start in our system.
I'm calling for 57 wins this season.

Seeing is Believing
Interesting posts… I think Koponen has potential… however, that’s all it is at this point. He’ll need to prove himself against NBA quality players. Down the road, maybe. Today, not so much.
Next off-season should be interesting.
Does Tony Parker qualify? He held him down pretty good in the Eurobasket qualification
But I agree, this is still all about him developing his game. He has the tools as a big (in size) combo guard to defend both positions, and is learning to lead the team and score. He benefitted a lot from Earl Boykins leaving and now gets the playing time he’ll need for the next year or two. I still have a hard time seeing him as an NBA-level starter, but who knows?
Ceterum censeo Lakers esse delendam
Koponen still isn't playing at a level that indicates he is likely to have sucsess in the NBA
Then again, Jennings didn’t do that well in Italy either.
Jennings did other things.
Scouts who watched him noticed he was playing much better on defense and buying into a team concept more. Since he already scored like crazy in high school (Broke Carmelo’s record) people shouldn’t have been worried about his low scoring numbers. It was all the other stuff he needed to get better at.
I’d like to here what people say about Koponen’s defense. If he’s improving that, then maybe he has a shot at the NBA.

Koponen is #1 defender in his team!
In yesterdays game he had the best /- (19)… And this was against the best team in the league! Apperently Koponen was defending Avellinos best scorer Dee Brown, who’s +/- was -19!

Koponen has been bumped around...
…not just played at PG. But that might be a GOOD thing. He CAN play PG as well as Blake (if not better) and plays PG for the national team. But he’s also been forced to play off the ball with a ball dominant PG (Scoonie Penn, and others), so he has to be able to be useful as a SG. But he’s also 6’5", and a good defender, so is asked to guard the opponent’s best wing player. Guess what? He sounds like a Better Blake! And we could play the “3 guard” lineup but pretend we’re just putting Koponen at SF. That way Brandon could feel comfortable AND we can have the offensive flexibility.
Right now I feel like letting Blake walk in the off-season would be too risky. But if K. keeps it up, I’d have no problem essentially swapping Blake for PK.
Koponen is very very good defender,
Didn’t any1 saw France – Finland Match. Koponen was all time in court when parker was. He stay front of parker, don’t give easy lay ups… Parker played big minutes and he shooting % was like 30? If trailblazers pick koponen to they starting five, then theres one sure thing. Parker will not score against Blazers…
Glad that he's getting some time to bake
PG is the hardest position to learn, too many guys rushed into it when they are not ready.
