Hi everyone
A member of GSoM here. Just thought I would say good luck for tonight’s game.

If Steve Blake plays bad tonight...
you think Nate would consider not starting him the next game

never..
Blake/Nate = Romance.

So are we going to get a serious Oden Tease tonight?
After watching the first quarter I was thinking we were going to see some HUGE numbers, but they the first 30 seconds of the 2nd quarter happened. I hope Greg can just realize that when the guards get beat, he can take a pass some of the time.

how about coach JOIN Oden in the battle against refs ?

You mean he’ll coach like every other NBA coach and not help the other team win? It’s really sad he has to say he’ll play guys with 2 fouls in the 2nd quarter.

And he says that Bayless will be getting more time.
I think he’s going with Blake starting. He didn’t say anything about the forward position.
It would be hard to make a starting lineup change (not involving howard) and somehow not win tonight.
It’s pretty much a free change for Nate.
Any bets
that the new starting lineup is the old starting lineup?
If it doesn’t include Miller we’re back to square one. If it does include Miller we need a three-point shooter. Martell? Rudy? Help?
—Dave
With his comment about Miller playing with the bench
It seems almost natural that it’s Rudy or Martell for Miller, IMO.
it'll be martell then
Brian Smith’s twitter:
#Blazers coach McMillan said he would not consider starting guard Rudy Fernandez. ‘I think he’s too valuable’ to the second unit. #NBA
My bet ...
Andre
Roy
Martell
LMA
Greg
what I’d like:
Andre
Roy
Rudy
LMA
Greg.

All I know is
that if “focused on Brandon” = Greg on the bench, there’s a good chance I get banned tonight. Jokes aside, hopefully it’s Martell for Blake (preferably) or Miller (not the right PG to yank, imo, but better than the 3 guard lineup).

I think Miller was limping last night after Ellis fell on him, and he also tweaked it a bit.
Might be the end of his consecutive games series. He might be pissed about that. Was already tuning out Nate last night in at least 2 timeouts. But I’m getting ahead of events here…

Miller won't be happy if he isn't starting
too bad he thinks he should just be given the position rather then earn it
Dogs have Owners, Cats have Staff.
My wish is for Martell
to be the outside threat he is capable of… Because if it is between him and Rudy, he edges Rudy in the rebounding department.
Strategy: Score more than 110 tonight and keep the Twolves under 90.

It's kind of a no-win game
If you win it’s just Minnesota. If you lose it’s armageddon. So you spend the whole night hoping not to lose rather than celebrating a win. Fortunately the loss last night will help us not to take this one for granted as fans.

Is it that teams look past "easy games" and get caught ... or is that that these supposedly bad teams have some really great nights?

Dogs have Owners, Cats have Staff.
What people miss
is that sometimes crap just happens. Jack Ramsay’s teams lost some bad games. Rick Adelman’s did too from time to time (not too often between ‘89 and ’92 though). If it becomes a pattern it’s a definite issue. But a game or even a week does not a pattern make.
Losing tonight, though, would be really…really…bad. Time for some major soul-searching if you drop one to Minnesota at home after losing to the current version of the Warriors.

I kind of like the idea
of going uptempo with Miller, Bayless and Rudy for a brief period. It will be interesting to see Dre’s reaction, while I agree a SF needed to be in the starting 5, Miller >>>Blake

We definetly need to play Bayless more.
Sitting him for entire games is crazy especially now. No one can dispute he gives us offense, every, single, time. Which is the biggest part of what we lack right now.
Agreed
It’s got to be frustrating for him – he’s earned more time, but Nate doesn’t seem to trust him at all

I too like that idea in teh 2nd unit.
but I still think you can do that AND start miller.
1) Bring Miller out with Oden mid-first. Put Blake and Przy in.
2) Rudy comes in for Martell mid to late 1st quarter.
3) late first, Bayless comes in for Roy.
4) between quarters, Miller comes back in for Blake, joined by LMA and Przy
5) Dante for LMA a few minutes into the 2nd.
6) Roy and Oden come back a couple minutes later.
How did you guys win that?

was it Nate's decision
or did Brandon tell him that guardig SFs wasn’t working out?
When reached 40 years of following Portland basketball you have, be as passionate of the Trail Blazers you will not!
Since they're saying that the focus has shifted back to Brandon,
I hope he is mentally ready for it and come back as the player we all know him to be.
Great
so we just wasted 9 games just to end up back at teh same lineup. Games we could have been using to build chemistry and continuity. And worse, we end up still starting the wrong PG. And to top it all off, we completely destroyiing Webster’s confidence in the process.
well done Coach, well done.
How did you guys win that?
"We scored enough points. We scored 107, they scored 105.
-Nate McMillan Postgame, 3/4/2009
The formula for starting Andre
is easy. You need another guy besides Roy who can hit a three. It’s no coincidence that since Blake’s jumper and Martell’s entire game have gone into the crapper the Blazers have been struggling. You still learned what you need from those games. Andre is now on the floor more with Rudy, which may be part of the plan.
—Dave
Webster can hit a 3, and was hitting 40% on them in the first 5 games (before he got benched).
Coach wanted a lineup change in game 6. Everyone in the world knew that change should have been Miller for Blake, not Miller for Webster. So, because he made the wrong move, we’ve now spent 9 games learning nothing that will help us long term, absolutely destroying the confidence of the only SF we have in uniform, and in the end we end up right back where we started. Andre needs to be on the court more with Greg and Brandon. So now we just killed that idea.
Unforgiveable.
How did you guys win that?
"We scored enough points. We scored 107, they scored 105.
-Nate McMillan Postgame, 3/4/2009
In the last 9 games
we went 7-2 with only 1 of those 2 losses being shocking or unexpected. That’s hardly a disaster, let alone unforgiveable.
—Dave
did you see the teams we played?
we eeked out a lot of too close wins over pretty bad teams. we haven’t looked “right” all year long offensively.
Yes, I think it’s unforgiveable to waste 9 games fooling around with a lineup only to completely undo it. that’s 9 games we could have and should have spent working on a lineup we can and will be playing with come April.
How did you guys win that?
"We scored enough points. We scored 107, they scored 105.

The lineups in April
will include Nic Batum and Travis Outlaw in prominent positions. So that’s not possible right now.

Anyone catch when they talked about having a Two Towers lineup on there?
I think it was like 1 or 2 weeks ago..
I think it's to give Miller some rest with his banged up body, not a permanent demotion
And to give the second unit more scoring power. If only Rudy scores, we are too easy to stop.
Ceterum censeo Lakers esse delendam
Looks like
Except square one without the options we had before because of injuries. Personally I would have liked to have seen a Miller-Rudy-Roy lineup if we were sticking with three guards for so long. But as I said above, I think maybe Miller and Rudy could get a chance to work together in the second unit. I’m pretty sure they want Rudy in with the reserves to offset Przybilla’s offense (and Howard’s). But basically I’m in favor of playing LaMarcus for 48 minutes and having the second unit run through him.
—Dave
Dante should get some run instead of Howard.
how can it hurt? we drafted him as a 4 year college player for a reason, and it’s not like he’s going to be handling the ball like a young PG would. Tell him to go out defend, rebound, and hustle for 8 minutes. I’d like to see what he can do.
