So are we going to get a serious Oden Tease tonight?

After watching the first quarter I was thinking we were going to see some HUGE numbers, but they the first 30 seconds of the 2nd quarter happened. I hope Greg can just realize that when the guards get beat, he can take a pass some of the time.

All I know is

Might be the end of his consecutive games series. He might be pissed about that. Was already tuning out Nate last night in at least 2 timeouts. But I’m getting ahead of events here…

What people miss

is that sometimes crap just happens. Jack Ramsay’s teams lost some bad games. Rick Adelman’s did too from time to time (not too often between ‘89 and ’92 though). If it becomes a pattern it’s a definite issue. But a game or even a week does not a pattern make.

Losing tonight, though, would be really…really…bad. Time for some major soul-searching if you drop one to Minnesota at home after losing to the current version of the Warriors.

by blazeraddict on Nov 21, 2009 6:39 PM PST up reply actions

I too like that idea in teh 2nd unit.

but I still think you can do that AND start miller.

1) Bring Miller out with Oden mid-first. Put Blake and Przy in.
2) Rudy comes in for Martell mid to late 1st quarter.
3) late first, Bayless comes in for Roy.
4) between quarters, Miller comes back in for Blake, joined by LMA and Przy
5) Dante for LMA a few minutes into the 2nd.
6) Roy and Oden come back a couple minutes later.

Great

so we just wasted 9 games just to end up back at teh same lineup. Games we could have been using to build chemistry and continuity. And worse, we end up still starting the wrong PG. And to top it all off, we completely destroyiing Webster’s confidence in the process.

well done Coach, well done.

-Nate McMillan Postgame, 3/4/2009

by douglast on Nov 21, 2009 6:36 PM PST reply actions

The formula for starting Andre

is easy. You need another guy besides Roy who can hit a three. It’s no coincidence that since Blake’s jumper and Martell’s entire game have gone into the crapper the Blazers have been struggling. You still learned what you need from those games. Andre is now on the floor more with Rudy, which may be part of the plan.

—Dave

by Dave on Nov 21, 2009 6:43 PM PST up reply actions

Webster can hit a 3, and was hitting 40% on them in the first 5 games (before he got benched).

Coach wanted a lineup change in game 6. Everyone in the world knew that change should have been Miller for Blake, not Miller for Webster. So, because he made the wrong move, we’ve now spent 9 games learning nothing that will help us long term, absolutely destroying the confidence of the only SF we have in uniform, and in the end we end up right back where we started. Andre needs to be on the court more with Greg and Brandon. So now we just killed that idea.

Unforgiveable.

Looks like

Except square one without the options we had before because of injuries. Personally I would have liked to have seen a Miller-Rudy-Roy lineup if we were sticking with three guards for so long. But as I said above, I think maybe Miller and Rudy could get a chance to work together in the second unit. I’m pretty sure they want Rudy in with the reserves to offset Przybilla’s offense (and Howard’s). But basically I’m in favor of playing LaMarcus for 48 minutes and having the second unit run through him.

Dante should get some run instead of Howard.

how can it hurt? we drafted him as a 4 year college player for a reason, and it’s not like he’s going to be handling the ball like a young PG would. Tell him to go out defend, rebound, and hustle for 8 minutes. I’d like to see what he can do.

How did you guys win that?
"We scored enough points. We scored 107, they scored 105.

at what point does Juwan go to the bench? He’s rating as the worst rotation player in the league and historically awful by most statistical metrics.

I mean, I get that fans overrate young players… but Juwan has been painful.

I think the 3-guard lineup is starting to run out of gas. Lets start Miller & Webster…

Blazers Broadcasters Mike Barrett and Mike Rice re-enacted NBA referee Scott Foster's controversial goaltending call on Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who was defending Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant, during this week's edition of Blazers Courtside. Remarkably, no one was injured during the taping of this segment.

OK, that should just about wrap up the goaltending discussion.
