Gameday Open Thread: Blazers vs. Warriors--Second Half

The evening is nearing the halfway point.  Have the Warriors scored 70 yet?  Did the Blazers come along for the ride?  Continue the conversation below.  Please be respectful of each other, stay mostly on topic, and as announced earlier in the week, posting of OR requests for streaming video links (outside of the legal and official ones the Blazers and the NBA put out) are not allowed at Blazersedge.

I want a plane ticket and a press pass

So I can ask nate after the game one question:
“Why didn’t LaMarcus Aldridge play in the second quarter?”

Things happen for a reason they say, but I say there's a reason things happen.

Did something not get reported? He’s got 2 fouls big deal…

Word on the street is

Nate likes to be questioned by everyone in the NBA

by pdxlifer on Nov 20, 2009 8:56 PM PST up reply actions

Um- Aldridge? Oden?

Anyone? This 2 fouls and you sit is making me sick. Play them the first half we’re up by 20, game over and don’t need their 6 fouls in the second half

i think nate is trying to

teach his big men a lesson something that doesn’t make sense now but may pay dividends later, but it’s still pretty lame

That’s invaluable and doesn’t show up in the boxscore. Unlike all those turnovers.

This is Nate's worst game yet.

LMA and Oden both sit with only 2 fouls?

Miller was killing and sat so Blake and Rudy can chuck the ball around the yard on the way to 10 turnovers for the quarter?

Horrible. Just horrible.

Joel and Juwan should never play together. It should be illegal.

and where is J-Bay? You’ve got a team happy to foul you and your best guy at drawing fouls may as well be selling pop corn.

Ridiculous.

Come on, Nate! Stop playing for the tie…

by VinnyB on Nov 20, 2009 8:47 PM PST reply actions

Roy has to get a T in order for the refs to pay attention. Nate just stands on the side and let’s the W’s hack the crap out of him and says/does nothing. As a player, I would be pretty upset…at my coach.

by OmoriumVerum on Nov 20, 2009 8:48 PM PST up reply actions

Yes

It is about winning or losing

by levelhed on Nov 20, 2009 8:51 PM PST up reply actions

Understood, but...

It’s also about getting a rhythm for your players and fine tuning your game. The Blazers have one on sheer talent, not because they look like a well run basketball team.

by OmoriumVerum on Nov 20, 2009 8:53 PM PST up reply actions

No matter how good or bad your team is

the game should never look as difficult as it does for the blazers. Even terrible teams make looking terrible easier.

Nate simply makes the game more difficult for the players

by TPfor3 on Nov 20, 2009 8:47 PM PST reply actions

2 foul policy

might be most stupid idea ever, in the history of coaching.

does nate realize a player is allowed 6 before fouling out? does he really think Roy, LA, AND GO will all foul out at the end?

by CleBlazer on Nov 20, 2009 8:47 PM PST reply actions

And it will cost him his job...

No relationship can prosper without trust. It’s as simple as that. Oden will be the first to stop listening, then LA, and eventually Roy will have to turn his back on his BFF. Then say goodbye to McMillan.

by OmoriumVerum on Nov 20, 2009 8:50 PM PST up reply actions

when have you seen the Blazers go in the tank and work their way out of it?

They’re young and they get on a roll of playing poorly and can’t get out of it. This is going to be a long second half

by TPfor3 on Nov 20, 2009 8:49 PM PST up reply actions

um?

never… sure they won games at the end… but once it started looking difficult, it never got easy later..

Yeah, without taking a shot at your fans,

is the crazy-pessimism level kinda the order of the day there?

I read TBLA a bit as well as several other Dodger blogs (MSTI and Dodger Thoughts are favorites), and while I don’t read MC regularly, there were a few references to some of the panicking there at times during the season – and on my couple of visits, there really did seem to be an insane amount of sky-is-falling type of stuff.

That said, when the sky was falling for us against Philly, there was probably plenty of the same on our boards.

Man, that pun was really, really bad earlier. Extra apologies for absorbing it.

look at our schedule

even after losing tonite we have a bunny schedule until mid-december. the blazers are going to look like a good team until the week of December 17th.

we really won’t know anything until then. right now i think skeptical is too optimistic for how i feel.

i can’t see this team beating a good team on the road and i wouldn’t even feel great about them at home. good thing we don’t have to play any good teams for while.

That's why I don't like Nate's 'stick with it until it fails' strategy

we should be trying different things so we’re firing on all cylinders when we get to that stretch

Your confusing thesis has captured my attention. Tell me more.

i can't agree

there just isn’t a better 5 man lineup right now. martell is awful, batum is hurt and with outlaw hurt you have no bench if you move rudy into the starting lineup.

LMAO

Yup, Tim Thomas = Jerome James = Brandon Roy. Nail on the head.

He's looked worse at times this season than he ever looked last season

that I agree with

then again the league adjusts at a speed that I don’t think Nate can match

Painful

I get to watch the Blazers rarely living in NorCal. And somehow what what should be an automatic win ends up in games like this and I hear it from Warrior fans for the next month.

First: anyone miss Outlaw? All you guys that btch about him 24/7: real what you sow.

Second: bench Blake. Martell needs to start to get his rhythm back. We r going to need him for the next 3-5 months in a big way.
