A Brief History of the Luxury Tax
A really fascinating little piece from Sham Sports. I had no idea that the owners have a mechanism to job 10% of player salaries via an "escrow" system...
Looks like the bonus for staying under the salary cap this year will be $4.8M, which will put a bit of diesel in Paul Allen's little boat.
I'll get a two-for-onesies linkage discount by noting my latest column is up now on SS&R (where I found the Sham Sports link above, it should be noted). Significant Blazer-related content in it, as usual, and non-BEdgy language in it, as usual, so be forewarned.

SS&R...
Some pretty harsh words for Oden in that link. Oh well, don’t really care I guess. The swipe at Pritchard was undeserved, but I guess a lot of comments like that always are on blogs of other teams.
LOL, not an Oden fan huh?
Looks like you went out of your way to diss the big man. Oh well.
Chuck Norris' tears cure cancer. Too bad he has never cried.

Hmmmm...
I spent most of last years Playoffs (post Blazers exit) trying to figure out why Dwight Howard was such a big deal. He can block shots and… OK, there is nothing after and. Wait, he can dunk the ball, too. Can’t everyone over 6 feet tall?
But I haven’t seen Howard’s game this year. Did he figure out how to make a hook shot outside of 3 feet? Face-up jumper? Ha, Ha – I crack myself up. Basically, he is a tall guy on a jump shooting team that gets a lot of put backs on misses and makes dunks when he is wide-open under the basket and gets fed the ball.
After he called out his own coach in the Playoffs asking for the ball more, we basically saw how completely limited Howard’s offensive game is – if it’s not a dunk or a layup, it’s not happening.
Oden is a “kitty cat.” Really? First Portland/Orlando game is Dec 19th. Let’s chat afterwards.
